Will food prices ever go down again?

I did my food shop tonight and was "is that it?!"
Actually took a photo to send to my dad to say I thought they had forgotten stuff but nope, that was just the price

No it won't go down it never does. We'll be lucky if it stays the same.

Hopefully though we'll start to see the return of BOGOFs and other deals. They have been very thin on the ground since lockdown.

I think that it will eventually go down a little because of supermarket competition but it won't be the prices from pre CoL.

It is a bit nuts these days. My £100 sainsburys delivery (no meat or alcohol) doesn't take up much space anymore.

I am always shocked at how little gets delivered for my money op. Used to get 4/5 crates from Tesco, now it is 2 for the same amount

Iceland is famous for being an unaffordable country. When I went there in the summer the prices didn't shock me as they've risen so much here. It's scary.

This was £68. Under the crisps is some toilet rolls, and the bag is chicken thighs

Some has come down a bit. Other things not.

Tbh it's the fluctuations and discrepancies that get me and have done since the start of all this. It's so hard to feel that you've made good choices and I end up second guessing myself a lot. I also hate, hate that shelf tickets aren't accurate any more. It's very difficult to budget. Add in all the two/three tier pricing, and all the scan your stuff, bring your own bags, pack your own bags and supermarket shopping, while never a joy, is now an absolute misery.
