Board games for older teens/young adults that can be played in 30mins with 2 players

I'd appreciate your suggestions please. They need to work well for 2 players in a shortish space of time, 30 to 40 minutes. So far I have Bananagrams, Scrable and Quirkle.

Jaipur? Not a board game but we love it. Also, Rummikub and Rummikub Word. Honeycombs is good too.

Mapominoes - it's a card game but my teenage grandsons love it. It's like dominoes but matching adjacent countries. Quite a quick game too.

Rummikub

Ticket to ride London

Thank you so much. Lots of suggestions for me to explore. Interesting about the sock game, as the box looks so childish, but it sounds worth a try! Thanks!!

Rummikub is good. I actually hate it because my DH is so flipping good at it, but it’s a good game!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 14/11/2023 06:53

The card game Spit is perfect for this

Deep Sea Adventure from Oink.

i love Duel, It’s been a favourite this year. Once you get the hang of it (I recommend watching a YouTube video) it’s a 20 minute game.

I like Jaipur slightly less but it’s good and fast and interesting.

Themostimportantpart · 14/11/2023 06:56

Azul
Tsuro
Backgammon

K4tM · 14/11/2023 06:59

Ooo yes, Backgammon.

ShoesoftheWorld · 14/11/2023 06:59

Exploding Kittens (a card game rather than a board game but fun)

Backgammon's a good shout.

Ticket to Ride takes longer than 30 min, I should think? (Don't know the London one, tbf).

Hermanfromguesswho · 14/11/2023 07:01

Uno flip, exploding kittens or just a normal pack of cards - we love shithead and garbage!

EVHead · 14/11/2023 07:04

I just bought Outsmarted - it’s great! You can play it as a board game or just compete with others via the app. You assign an age group to players so that they get appropriate questions.

FallingAutumnLeaf · 14/11/2023 07:08

Loads of good suggestions above.
Just adding Hive in.

An old game, but both my teens love Othello.

Ticket to Ride London is a shorter format, so yes I think you'd get a game done in about 30 mins.

Kluster - I'm not sure if it counts as there's no board involved but it's fast and fun.
