How crap is Boots Advantage Card?

The ridiculous rule where you have to have enough points for a whole item!
I have £10 worth of points, but got no discount off my £40 bill.Angry

I also think it's crap that you can't just put it towards something, you have to have enough to cover the whole amount

Lavenderhazee · 08/11/2023 20:03

Yep and I can never get my card or phone to scan at the till so most of the time just give up

LyricalGangsta · 08/11/2023 20:03

I hardly ever get points now anyway as there are much cheaper places to get stuff. I can't really afford Boots

They give more points per £ than most retailers but you can't use them for part payment. I've always found it pretty good and the points build up quickly.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 08/11/2023 20:07

I think I have about £7 and that's taken me 4 years to build up!

I'd much rather be able to put it towards something, you're right that it's stupid

HelloMist · 08/11/2023 20:22

My points expired! Admittedly that only happens if you haven't shopped with them in a year, I think. I got a warning but didn't manage to use it before they did.

Shopper727 · 08/11/2023 20:25

I’ve always liked boots, depends how much you shop there I have £108 of points I got extra recently as made a big purchase and got bonus and double points. Not sure what I’ll use them for but will wait until after Christmas as I get my boys aftershave etc there

Florabundance · 08/11/2023 20:28

I haven't shopped in Boots for years, much prefer Superdrug, it's cheaper and has far better choice plus decent offers, Boris prices make their points negligible anyway.

Florabundance · 08/11/2023 20:29

Sorry that was meant to read as 'Boots'.

Sharontheodopolodous · 08/11/2023 20:32

I used to love boots
I used to get everything for the kids from there and my points built to to the point dd used to joke that I'd 'better hurry up and die so I can have your boots points'
I never dipped below £80 odd quids worth
Now I have £8 on it and never go in-its shabby, expensive and nothing I want
They've dropped it to 3 points a pound from 4 and never have any good offers on
I'll stick to superdrug/tesco (if I'm in town) or ebay/amazon (if I'm at home)

AutumnCrow · 08/11/2023 20:33

Yes it's crap now, and they have lost the word 'woman' on their website too. Terrible marketing and customer service, and the pharmacy service isn't great. So bye bye Boots, after all these decades, until you come to your senses.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 08/11/2023 20:34

I don't shop at Boots much these days but have accrued £18 this year with various offers. I shop at Sainsbury's practically every day and only have £40. I'd rather have the four points per £ and have to cover the whole purchase then have less points per £ but be able to use for part payment.

Pushkinini · 08/11/2023 20:38

I have £104 on mine which has taken me years to accrue. I quite like the fact that you have to have enough to cover your purchase otherwise I'd just use mine off a random shop. I'm not sure what I'm saving for, but I do fancy some new straighteners so might keep saving for some good ones.

Pebbles16 · 08/11/2023 20:43

I have totally given up on them. Outdated, virtue signalling, and rubbish customer service.

MrsMiagi · 08/11/2023 20:47

LOVE the advantage card! The trick is to use it online/the app.
I wait until things are 3 for 2 or on offer then get the tenners extra points when spending £60, plus load all the personalised offers in the app. Boots is one of the only places that lets you code stack so my recent order that should have been almost £200 was half price, plus £15 back in points. Student discount also works on top of this and if you are part of the parenting club there are freebies plus a monthly discount code on baby items.
I Usually have at least a couple hundred pounds worth of points each Xmas which really helps for gifts.

Use Quidco or a site like that for cashback too where possible!

Carrotcake90 · 08/11/2023 20:49

I agree, it's a stupid rule

Purplerain0505 · 08/11/2023 20:50

I’m still quite happy shopping at Boots and I like the range of products and brands, but the Advantage Card has definitely lost its charm.

RandomUsernameHere · 08/11/2023 20:53

I got an email saying my points were about to expire! It was over £100, must have built up over many years, I hardly shop there now. There wasn't anything I wanted for myself so got 4 Squishmallows for the DCs Grin

LittleMooli · 08/11/2023 20:53

I think its amazing! I get 8 points per £1 on baby stuff. I like to use it to buy myself free lunches for work or save them and buy something nice for Christmas for me. To get the best out of it you need to use the app to upload the bonus vouchers. And if you shop online they sometimes give extra points for eg £60 on baby stuff

TomatoSandwiches · 08/11/2023 20:53

I buy stragically throughout the year especially suncreams, dental bits, certain vitamins, I take advantage of the offers they have, bulk buy staples that have extra points allocated.
We replace our electric Toothbrushes with them and some stocking bits for Christmas. I have £187 from this year.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 08/11/2023 20:56

I have 48 hard earned quid on mine. Last week there was a bottle of Idole reduced to 50, great, that’s dds present sorted, but no, two quid short. 😢

Yes exactly- if you're smart you can collect quite a few points.

OhTheSilence · 08/11/2023 20:57

I've built up a lot of points through their recycle scheme. Today just dropped off 5 empty tubes of toothpaste and got 500 points.

LittleMooli · 08/11/2023 20:58

In my birthday month I got double points so I stocked up then for Christmas gifts for the teen girls in my life

OceanicBoundlessness · 08/11/2023 21:00

I've given up on boots since they introduced the dual pricing on items. I lost my advantage card so it's not worth it
