Reapparance of DS's coat - spooky??

DS lost his coat on the Thursday before half term. He definitely went to school with it in the morning and came back without it. There's even a video of him wearing it because he was recording a message before he went to school for DMIL who was in hospital.

He insisted it was at home so just in case I searched the house and there was no sign of it. Yesterday, I gave in bought him another and thought if it comes back we'll have a spare..

This morning the dog woke me howling at 4am.. she seemed really upset. and almost never howls.. and the flipping coat was folded up very neatly right in the middle of the sofa. It certainly wasn't there when I went to bed I'd have noticed.. There's no way DS found it and put it there since he never folds anything Grin and anyway he'd just have told me as he knows I'd have been pleased. Anyway he was fast asleep when I looked in. DD was out staying at a friends and DP was in bed. and never folds anything much either .. and I doubt it was the dog .. or the cats...

Spooky? Or a logical explanation?

You couldn't see the wood for the trees and it was there all along?

JaneJeffer · 04/11/2023 16:12

Did he have a door key in the pocket 👀

listsandbudgets · 04/11/2023 18:33

No key and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there - I'd been sitting on the sofa all evening and would have crumpled it and it would have been covered in pet hairs too if it had just sat there a full week

Just don't get it...

Still at least we now have a spare coat

I think this would freak me out.

windypumpkin · 04/11/2023 18:40

Hmm..

Sleepwalker?

This is creepy

rainbowstardrops · 04/11/2023 18:45

So it had been missing for a good while and then suddenly turned up in the middle of the sofa?
Yep, that's spooky!!!

justalittlesnoel · 04/11/2023 18:46

That's so spooky that it was just in the middle of the sofa! And animals are meant to be sensitive to spooky things, it's making me feel uncomfortable thinking about it 😂

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/11/2023 18:47

It's the dog being scared makes it creepy

AproposofEverything · 04/11/2023 18:48

That is weird. If it had been folded up on top of an ironing board that didn’t belong to you either, that would’ve been even more spooky.

🤣🤣

MaliciaKeys · 04/11/2023 18:59

Oh that's really creepy. Do any of your neighbours have a spare key? Could he have dropped the coat on the way home and someone found it and returned it?

OhComeOnFFS · 04/11/2023 18:59

What colour is your sofa and what colour is his coat?

AproposofEverything · 04/11/2023 19:03

Seriously, though, was the back door locked? Do all family members live with you, or have a door key?

DNAwrangler · 04/11/2023 19:08

I mean it’s not supernatural obviously. But if the coat definitely wasn’t there before then I’d be worried, yes. Coast don’t just appear.

VisionsOfSplendour · 04/11/2023 19:11

Did it have clock chains in the pockets?

That made me laugh. Two mysteries solved for the price of one..

My Mum lost a ring a couple of years ago- it was my Nan's eternity ring and she was heartbroken. I took her shopping one morning and when we got back, the ring was sitting on top of a cushion on the sofa.

Some time ago I "lost" a fob which generated a random number for me to access my online bank account.

I wasn't worried as anyone trying to access my account would also need my user name and pin number.

I told my cleaner I'd lost it and to please look out for it. She recognised my description and said "you always keep that in x place". She didn't find it.

months later, it turned up where I normally kept it. I'd suspect my cleaner, but she was as white as a ghost when she found it, I was in the same room at the time. And she had many chances to rob me if she was so inclined and never did in over ten years.

Everthenever · 04/11/2023 19:54

This happened to me before.
I have posted about it here under a different name before.

I bought an eyebrow pencil one Friday and put it straight into my handbag. I was going out that night so, when i was doing my makeup, I went to get the pencil from the average sized bag. Not there. I went through every pocket, nook and cranny in the bag. Tipped the contents out. Looked, searched and rummaged over and over.

Nothing!

I assumed it had slipped out at some point and it was lost forever. I used a different pencil, had my night out and used that bag every day until the following Tuesday when I opened it up and the pencil was sitting there right at the top, right under the zip.

Nobody can tell me that that pencil was inside the bag. It wasn't. I mean, it wasn't there! I emptied the bag and went through the contents, piece by piece, then put everything back, one item at a time. I was methodical in my search and then I used the bag for another four days!

Thehandinthedark · 04/11/2023 19:55

Just shout, 'Thank you very much!' and hang it up.

Then change your locks!

listsandbudgets · 04/11/2023 21:35

Everything was locked. the only other person who has a key is DSS and there's no way the dog would have howled at him she absolutely adores him.. Anyway dp checked the CCTV camera .. nothing

Coat black sofa turquoise ..

Very puzzling but pleased to have it back

I've told this story on here before.

Once I lost my hairbrush. It wasn't anywhere. One day after a shower I was using the comb in the lounge again and said something out loud about I wish whoever took my hairbrush would just return it.

Go to bedroom a short while later.

There it is. In the middle of the hallway floor.

Only ds and I live here.

We'd both been in the lounge together the whole time.

Still freaks me out to this day 🫣

xogossipgirlxo · 04/11/2023 21:43

It is spooky. I lost an item recently and it appeared in the sink after few weeks. My husband swears it wasn’t him, we checked sink and the whole kitchen few times.

Jewelspun · 04/11/2023 21:58

Was it a camouflage jacket?
