Eating Chinese food. The next day?

Looking for some advice please.

We got a Chinese for dinner last night. I have some leftovers salt and pepper chips, plain noodles, chicken fried rice.

Would they be ok to heat up and eat tonight?

I didn't put them in the fridge 😕
But my kitchen has no heating and is cold.

I eat Chinese leftovers every single time, the next day. I too don’t always remember to put any of it in the fridge. Includes prawn or chickeny things.

I ensure all is scalding hot and sometimes add it to a breakfast omelette!

I have never been ill. Never! Waste not want not.

I wouldnt eat food thats been left out overnight, particularly rice. I dont know where you are in the country but my unheated kitchen is still 10 degrees warmer than my fridge.

It'll all be fine. All of it. Never been a problem to me.

I wouldn't risk it, but DP would & does, and has always been absolutely fine. I don't know if that helps!

Cold chips in the air fryer are yum!

ThereIsNoTomorrow · 03/11/2023 22:23

I've done this usually I leave my leftovers in the microwave, I'm not dead yet 😆😆

Boujibroke · 03/11/2023 22:49

@PatFussy I heated them up in the airfryer. They were amazing, really hot, fresh and crispy.

@ThereIsNoTomorrow thanks for the reassurance 😁

@ManchesterLu thank you. Hope I have the same stomach as your dp Grin

I've been ill from eating rice not stored properly and it was bloody horrific.

TheFormidableMrsC · 04/11/2023 00:49

I absolutely would not eat anything that's been left out overnight. Don't do it!

TheFormidableMrsC · 04/11/2023 00:50

Should have RTFT. Hope you're ok and no ill effects!

It's funny, I've read that about reheating rice for years and I have also done this for years and literally never been ill. I do wonder how many people actually get ill from reheating rice?

Personally, I'd risk it providing it was properly reheated, but I get the impression I'll be in the minority!

I'm totally with you on that one.

I'm 54 years old and I've been eating reheated rice (not always refridgerated) since I was about 14 and literally never been ill.

When the internet became a thing, I was surprised to learn it was such a big cause of food poisoning.

I've lived in Asia for 4 years and everywhere you go they sale cold rice on the counters in shops, on the street stalls etc not refrigerated, I've not heard of anyone dying yet. Also the school kids take their rice dinners into school in metal containers, 99% of it is rice, once again not refrigerated.

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 04/11/2023 01:04

I'd eat it. Done it loads of times. Never been ill.

Johnisafckface · 04/11/2023 01:35

I always reheat my Chinese food and rice up the next day as I never can finish all of it in one sitting. Been doing it for decades and have never been sick. But I don’t eat food that’s been left out
