I never knew there was such a thing!

Of course l do. It’s between the aperitif room, opposite the morning coffee room and next to the sex room.

I met an American lady who had a wrapping room. It was lined with mahogany panelling which her DH had imported to the US from an old bank in the City of London.

I’d like a rapping room, every time you go in Run DMC is playing. Sadly I don’t have one. I’d like that, but that’s the way it is.

I outsource all of my wrapping to online retailers, so much easier. My wrapping room has now become a gin bar 😉

I think dear Kris Jenner is being horribly misrepresented here. The forgotten apartment wasn't just for wrapping, she also kept champagne there!

I want a large multi-purpose room that basically looks like the sewing bee haberdashery.

There'll be areas for all my various craft interests, huge amounts of storage for fabrics etc and a couple of big islands for measuring/cutting/wrapping.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/11/2023 07:18

I have a craft room which I know I'm very lucky to have ( although I use the dining room table for gift wrapping)

If you have the space there's always a fold out craft Cabinet/ wrapping station...

I rarely wrap presents, we don't give loads and I made a stash of fabric drawstring bags years ago which get reused. They live in a box in the cupboard under the stairs. No dedicated room although I do have a craft room and an office.

I had a wealthy university friend who had numerous special rooms in her parents house. A flower arranging room, a dog grooming room, a soundproof music room and a library each for her mum, dad and herself. Not sure if they also had a wrapping room though.

I wrap gifts using my ironing board as I fit it easier to stand than to sit at a table to Xmas giftwrap.
I barely iron clothes so it's a chance to make my ironing board feel useful and loved.

That's genius!

I'm trying that this year!

I'm glad a comment as inspired as that is finally getting the appreciation it deserves.

Everyone else on this thread must be philistines or just much younger than some of us.

Usually do it in the loft because DC don’t go up there and they’re stored there until Christmas /birthdays so it makes sense.

gotomomo · 03/11/2023 07:49

@WonderingWanda

That's my thinking too, I hate wrapping! I reuse gift bagsGrin

Do you think if people stopped wrapping gifts the world would be a better place?

No but if people stopped buying so much stuff we wouldn't be wrecking our planet so fast.

TerfTalking · 03/11/2023 08:29

I guess so. My study is where the wrapping paper and sellotape and scissors and cards are kept.

I wrap and store Christmas present in there until Christmas. My DC are adults and left home though so unlikely to spoil the Father Christmas existence.

I am very bah humbug though and hate having gifts littering my lovely room.

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/11/2023 08:40

We have a trainer room. It has also in its life been a spare bedroom/home office/place we keep all the vinyl records.

But right now Mr Monkey has decided it is to be the trainer room as he pursues his current life goal of becoming the Imelda Marcos of running shoes

Vermin · 03/11/2023 08:45

I can go one better - I know of an ultra wealthy quasi-celeb (well known but pretty much just for being rich) who does so much net a porter type shopping (tells the personal shopper she wants eg a “camel coat, pull some in” and six will arrive to try on) that they had a post office branch installed at their property to get direct collections!

DramaAlpaca · 02/11/2023 21:42

No - but one of my neighbours has a sewing room and another has an upstairs laundry room. I'm not sure which I envy the most.

An upstairs laundry/utility room makes so much more sense than lugging washing downstairs, and then up again. I now have a new plan for any future spare room we have. An upstairs laundry room with a sofa bed would be infinitely more useful than a rarely used spare bedroom.

regarding wrapping, it is usually done on the bed in the room where the wrapping paper is stored.

BarbaraofSeville · 03/11/2023 09:44

But you still have to take the washing down the stairs to hang it on the washing line Confused

mondaytosunday · 03/11/2023 10:27

No, but if I had the space I'd love a hobby room which could double as one!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/11/2023 13:47

@BarbaraofSeville @CrapBucket

You should see my rapping room. Beautifully laid out shelves of tissue paper in all colours, rolls of ribbon,, gift bags, coloured tape. You could say it's a Rapper's delight...

wineandmaltesershappyme · 03/11/2023 14:33

Nope. I sit on the kitchen floor with a glass of baileys to do my wrapping, that way i'm close to the main tree (in family room at the back of the kitchen) that i don't have to carry them anywhere. I hate wrapping.

Tombero · 03/11/2023 14:39

I have always wanted a lumber room.

Jessforless · 03/11/2023 14:56

I need to hear more about Kris Jenners wrapping apartment!!

MissRead · 03/11/2023 15:20

No but I'd love one - my house is teeny tiny with very little storage so at the moment I have a plastic box under the bed for gifts/paper and an Ikea trolley for ribbon/tape/cards etc.

DD might be moving out soon though and I've got such plans for her room - an office, a craft area, a laundry room, a reading corner, a spare bedroom and now a space for wrapping - I cant decide which I'd love more 🎁

Blackandwhitemakesgrey · 03/11/2023 15:24

Is the house for Santa? 🤣

I suppose if you have enough rooms then you can call each room whatever you want.
I’d imagine the house owners must send out a lot of gifts in order to need a room for it. I’m imagining hundreds of lists and different levels of gifts depending on the importance of the recipient. Is it royalty?
