If you had a night in by yourself, what would you make for dinner?

I will be enjoying the silence of the house to myself on Friday. I will not be falling into the lures of Deliveroo.. I am trying to limit my takeaway spending!

What can I make myself as a bit of a treat on a Friday. Considering charcuterie and wine.. but wondered what you'd do to see if there is something more exciting I like the sound of! Open to anything..

I often have beans on toast as a treat. With hot sauce and cheddar cheese.

Mushrooms! Anything with mushrooms… probably pasta because that way I could eat a whole garlic bread to myself too 😋 I am a huge mushroom fan and everyone else complains when I put them in things detectably

Not quite hard boiled eggs and toast. Tea.

I wouldn't cook. Possibly an omelette but most likely toast.

And wine.

There's a fairly quick Ottolenghi recipe with orzo, prawns and marinated feta - takes about 20 minutes. As DH dislikes every one of those ingredients, it's the dinner I make for myself when everyone else is busy.

I'm heavy-handed wiht the feta.

I’m the cook in our household and as much as I enjoy cooking I never really get a break. So for just me it would be a plate of oven crispy prawn snacks with soy/chilli dips and rose.

Something vegetarian and simple, because my husband always tends to want meat, so it's a nice change. I usually keep some packets of freeze dried stuffed pasta in for just this type of occasion. I would typically have it with simple sundried tomato sauce from a jar and maybe some mushrooms stirred in (he doesn't like either of these things) and some grated cheese.

Then I would likely have ice-cream with ice magic on top (or whatever brand it is now - the sauce that hardens). I have always loved this with a passion but it feels childish to eat it in front of another adult.

Seafood risotto with white wine, fennel and tomato.

It'll be either a steak, salad and chips or a well cheesy macaroni cheese.

Every time.

A packet of salt and vinegar crisps, a bowl of mini shredded wheats and a chocolate bar.

Exactly this, plus my body weight in home made chips.

Macaroni cheese with either tuna or bacon and a glass of red wine.

i like the amoy thick udon noodles with oyster sauce/soya sauce/sugar/sesame oil. I soak the noodles I'm hot water, stir fry some veggies and king prawns, toss in noodles and sauce and have a lovely fakeaway. or if I fancy more chilli heat, I add gochujang instead of oyster sauce

Pasta and pesto with rocket and a nice bottle of chilled white wine.

I always cook the same thing when DH is away and I only need to please myself, meatfree Kyiv, garlic rice and stir fry!

I always make Nigella's baked salmon and posh mushy peas. I save the calories for nice dessert.

Egg mayonnaise sandwich with salad

A really good steak sandwich on ciabatta with rocket and bearnaise sauce

Camembert and crusty bread
Or charcuterie
Or pate with port wine sauce
Or garlic creamy mushrooms.
Goats cheese cover in honey toasted on walnut toast

Melted cheese and non-cooked tomatoes standing up in the kitchen. Like I just did. Not a big fan of cooking!
