What do trick or treaters get at your house?

I’ve made up little bags each containing a fun size chocolate bar (from Lidl), a lollipop, mini bag of jellies, a small chewy bar (like a mini Wham or Refresher), and a sticker.

They will have DS6 handing over one thing each from The Big Bowl to each trick or treater. I’ve bought a random selection of things from Aldi.
Going by last year we could get 70+
kids.

Mumaway · 30/10/2023 22:37

One lolly, or something I don't want my kids to have from their bags

SpuddyMary · 30/10/2023 22:39

Ignored.

Same. Left standing on the doorstep, in our case.

Aethelberht · 30/10/2023 22:40

Nothing, as they never visit which is why I always get snacks in

Notateacheranymore · 30/10/2023 22:41

More ignoring here. No kids live here and my arthritic hips are not fit for this bollocks any more.

Divebar2021 · 30/10/2023 22:42

I’ve got some big bags of packets of sweets and fun size chocolate bars which will go in a big bowl. I think individual bags is cute but I would need A LOT and I don’t think it’s a great idea to send more plastic out in the world ( assuming they are plastic bags)

Exactly this. Then put a note on the door when we run out.

Sceptre86 · 30/10/2023 22:43

I've made up 40 halloween bags with a mixture of chocolates and sweets suitable for vegetarians.

theysaiditgetseasier · 30/10/2023 22:45

This year I'm handing out either a lolly or fun size aldi choc bar, last year I had so many kids grabbing handfuls of sweets from the bowl (which was huge) and it really pissed me off 🤣

I tell my kids take one sweet only and they comply, until encouraged by the giver, so greedy some of these kids

SusannaSusanna · 30/10/2023 22:46

We just chuck random sweets (whatever is on offer) into a bowl and offer it round. We don't get masses of kids, but teenagers grabbing handfuls get a stern look and an oy!!

CyberCritical · 30/10/2023 22:46

We have a big cardboard box stuffed full of random sweets we've been picking up on multi-buy offers. Each kid will get 1 thing, if previous years are anything to go by we'll have about 100 kids knocking, often showing up in big groups, it will be a very busy couple of hours.

theysaiditgetseasier · 30/10/2023 22:46

Unless I meant

RampantIvy · 30/10/2023 22:47

I have bought some mini bags of Skittles and some of Haribo, and am hoping there will be some left.

We are tucked away, and very rarely get trick or treaters.

Robotalkingrubbish · 30/10/2023 22:47

Fuck all.

Paper bags.

We’re rural so not too many kids around. Usually get <10 so happy to go slightly OTT.

Another one who ignores them!

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/10/2023 22:51

I've got a hundred sweets from multipacks, so lollies, chews and mini Haribo bags. A sweet each and that's it. It's quite a big event where I live and people go to a lot of effort. I'm expecting those sweets to be gone within a couple of hours and then that's it!

PastorCarrBonarra · 30/10/2023 22:51

A mini Mars each. Don’t get many around here, though.

CuteAsDuck · 30/10/2023 22:51

Those sound lovely OP.

We get a massive amount of trick or treaters here 100+ so tends to be fun size mars, mini packs of haribo etc. I try to make sure there's a good variety in terms of dairy free etc.

Also last year stuck the fruit bowl by the door as well with little pumpkin faces drawn on the oranges and was surprised how many kids went for one!

RampantIvy · 30/10/2023 22:53

Wow. Halloween sounds expensive for you @CuteAsDuck

PepsiCoco · 30/10/2023 22:55

We get about a hundred also so they get a couple of roses chocolates each

MissedItByThisMuch · 30/10/2023 22:56

Nothing. Halloween isn’t big in Australia (my part anyway) despite the supermarkets’ best efforts to sell more chocolate.

ChristmasAlmostComplete23 · 30/10/2023 23:00

Lollipops etc. Last year we went through over 140 sweets. And ds was handing 1 per kid. We get so many. Just over an hour and we ran out.
This year have got 18 big bags of the moam, lollies type stuff so maybe 200 sweets ( minus the few i taste tested)
