Why is everyone having hot dogs?

shivawn · 30/10/2023 21:42

It was obvious you weren't asking about tonight....19:40 would be pretty last minute to be asking for dinner ideas especially if you're headed off out trick or treating!

Anyway, we'll be having tacos which is a pretty routine staple in our house, we don't do a special Halloween dinner.

vernatheraven · 30/10/2023 21:43

Nothing. So I can eat maoam's that I am going to start remove from the trick or treat bowl. So many of them

We’re having quesadillas with a cobweb drawn on in sour cream.

Made these at my mum’s earlier (we did some Halloween activities with the kids as it’s half term here) and they went down well. Sausages wrapped in pastry as a pp said :)

Black sepia spaghetti tossed in garlic and olive oil. Meatballs with a stuffed olive inside each one to look like eyeballs. Tomato and basil sauce made with passata to look like blood in a hug to pour over everything. Cranberry juice in blood bag drinking pouches from Flying Tiger for children, 19 crimes wine in the limited edition glow in the dark bottle for adults. Leftover sweets for pudding.

mamaduckbone · 30/10/2023 21:50

People do a special Halloween dinner...? <misses point of thread>
<wanders off scratching head>

To be fair, my dcs are 17 and 14 so all we might do is watch a scary film, but even in the trick or treating years I don't remember doing anything special.

Mumoftwotoddlers · 30/10/2023 21:51

Chilli stuffed peppers, quick and simple but I'm going to carve faces into them so they match our pumpkins

Why is everyone having hot dogs?

Because they’re easy peasy, they can be made to look like fingers and most kids love them!

Sommerled · 30/10/2023 22:03

Dinner for me will be all the DCs guising goodies 🤣

Lilacdressinggown · 30/10/2023 22:09

Pesto pasta with roast chicken and rocket.

BoothsChristmasBook · 30/10/2023 22:10

"Why is everyone having hot dogs?"

Why not? We always have Halloween hot dogs 🌭

TravellingT · 30/10/2023 22:10

Pumpkin filled tortelloni, with cacio e pepe sauce. Also having pumpkin soup for lunch. Made these Pumpkin shaped rolls, for the soup and maybe as garlic bread for the pasta.

Dessert is pumpkin spice swiss roll With pumpkin pattern I made it for our party on Saturday and it went down very well

We love halloween, and I countdown the days till pumpkin puree is in the stores every year.

Xmasbaby11 · 30/10/2023 22:14

On impulse I bought some Halloween food from M and S - chicken wings, burgers and sausages in various shapes!

mrsfollowill · 30/10/2023 22:18

When DS was little we always had his cousins round and had hotdogs in buns, ''witches fingers' crisps from M&S and cakes/bat biscuits- with limeade or cherryade in skull goblets. Then went out trick or treating. Decorated the house and lit the pumpkins and played 'scary sound effects' CD! DH stayed at home to give out the sweets while I went round the neighbourhood with the children. Happy days! DS will be at work tomorrow - I miss the old days Halloween Grin

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 30/10/2023 22:18

We aren't having a special dinner but anyway, this is what's on the menu tomorrow

bruschetta (with tomatoes I brought home from Venice [twirls]) followed by carbonara made the traditional way with egg and pancetta. Yum. Liberally followed with a limoncello

Carsarelife · 30/10/2023 22:20

We have some yummy M&S oven quick food. Pizza, Halloumi fingers, wriggly worms etc Normally have a few people coming over, DC friends etc.
Once that's gone I just put a crisp selection out

RedSnowflake · 30/10/2023 22:23

Quesadillas made into the shape of spooky pumpkin faces

MissingMoominMamma · 30/10/2023 22:25

A picnic that I need to buy after work tomorrow because I’m going on a spooky adventure in the dark…

Fredblog · 30/10/2023 22:25

M&S halloween selection picky dinner, wriggly worms, chicken bats..relieved to have a night off cooking tbh

BeckhamSeven · 30/10/2023 22:32

Always chilli con carne in the slow cooker

Mindovermatter247 · 30/10/2023 22:34

Hot dogs and we brought the bat shaped pizza from asda… im having burgers as I don’t really like hot dogs. But it’s always an easy dinner so that I clean up quickly for the games. My kids don’t trick or treat, so we do a Halloween pinata and some of dc friends come over aswell so they are not missing out on candy.

CyberCritical · 30/10/2023 22:39

Quesadillas, quick, easy and a hit with DD

BooBooBaloo · 30/10/2023 22:40

Whatever I can be bothered to cook. It's tomorrow and Halloween is not really a special event to us so doesn't get special consideration

Gnomegarden32 · 30/10/2023 22:49

Nachos

onwardandupwards · 30/10/2023 22:49
