Best “significant” birthday present you got?

DH is having a big birthday this year. We’ve had a really crappy couple of years, so I want to get him something good or do something good.

What was the best “big” birthday present you gave or have received?

I've never actually been given anything special for a "big" birthday (and I've had a few!) No one seems to think they're important. Perhaps that's a train of thought you could take?

Best big birthday gift I received was for my 40th.

DH got me an Apple Watch, tacori ring, a trip to Honduras staying in an eco-lodge, and flew my sister and best friend over as a surprise. Best birthday ever!

It's his birthday next week (not a "big" one) and I got him a voucher for a supercar track day when we go back to Uk next Easter, and a limited edition bottle of McCallan whisky.

It's his 40th in a couple years and I'm already trying to think of how to surprise him for that.

Whole family clubbed together and bought me a brand new bicycle for my 50th. First new bike I’ve ever owned.

Possibly your family and friends realise you wouldn't appreciate it. However the OP - who is not you - would like to do something nice for her husband.

Best I had was my 50th. My kids (aged 10 and 12) and DH planned a surprise weekend away, they booked hotel, flights, entry tickets to things they knew I’d like, researched good restaurants made reservations etc. They kept the destination secret but gave me a weather report and packing instructions. That made it super lovely because I’m usually the one who does all that. They gave it a code name (Rhyl) but I have to confess I was mightily relieved to discover it was somewhere a bit more glamorous 😁

It was with www.smartimages.co.uk/tuition.php?id=workshops
I did the workshop at the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover.
It was really good and I learned a lot.
I'm going to do it again next year.
Tomorrow, again through Oliver Smart, I'm going to sit in a hide in rural Wiltshire to photograph red kites and buzzards. Only downside is that I've got to get up at 0400 to get there.

DH took me to NY, was a surprise, just gave me weather info for packing, 2 friends came also

My best special present was my husband got my very old teddy refurbished- he sent him down to Cornwall and it meant the world to me that he had been so thoughttful. I also got a very expensive designer handbag and jewelllery but the teddy was the best!

For my 21st birthday my DH, back then my DP, did a jewellery course and made me a personalised bracelet, he asked the lady to take photos of him making the bracelet at different stages and put them in a box with the bracelet. My heart almost burst!
