Best “significant” birthday present you got?

DH is having a big birthday this year. We’ve had a really crappy couple of years, so I want to get him something good or do something good.

What was the best “big” birthday present you gave or have received?

DH went to Australia for his 50th to see his oldest friend who emigrated there about 30 years ago. We could never have afforded for the whole family to go, and I was happy for him to go alone. 24 hours on a plane is my idea of hell anyway. He obviously only had flights/spending money to afford, as he stayed with friend for 3 weeks.

My 21s. A sewing machine that's still going strong.

My DH bought me a feast and overnight stay at River Cottage for my 50th last year. It was just the most amazing gift.

I had a photography day with a wildlife photographer. Birds of prey. Brilliant!

I've bought him tickets to Lords for England/West Indies next year.

Tickets to the Edinburgh festival for my 30th, including travel and accommodation. I love stand up comedy and had always wanted to go. Almost 10 years later it’s still one of the best trips I’ve ever been on.

A hand knitted toy of one of my favourite childhood toys that got lost whilst moving and original was from my gran, it means the world especially as the person who gave me it isn't the sort of person I would of ever thought would of done something like that.

My cat. Wasn't a big birthday, nor was she especially expensive, but she's the best present.
