My living room and the rug choices...

Hard to see but there's lots of green, orange, reds, some pink in the room

A (And I like your curtains!)

OldTinHat · 28/10/2023 16:24

A or C

Jewelspun · 28/10/2023 16:29

None of the rugs look like they would suit the room.

I can’t see your living room?

I like A best, but can’t say whether it would fit in your room.

I like all the rugs but can't see the living room picture. Curious to see the curtains too 😁 I asked for opinions on mirrors and had multiple people telling me my fireplace was all wrong, the mantle was too high etc, as if I had unlimited money to fix that when I had already spent loads doing it up. It did sting a bit 😳

I’m glad it’s not just me. I can’t see it either.

Delatron · 28/10/2023 18:01

It was there but has disappeared now!

ABeautifulThing · 28/10/2023 18:14

I'm not surprised after all the uncalled for comments on them. People feel being asked for advice on a rug gives them licence to be rude, just because it's an anonymous forum.

Delatron · 28/10/2023 18:15

Yeah. I liked the rugs and the room! Everyone has different tastes. If you can’t be helpful just don’t comment.

This would look nice;

https://ruggable.co.uk/products/morris-and-co-blackthorn-forest-green-rug?size=185x275&system=rug-sys
biased as a bought for myself and have a dark green room.

You've linked to a rug 10 times the price OP asked people to choose from. Why?

It's too dark anyway.

HuggyRuggy · 28/10/2023 18:49

I can't afford 'ruggable' prices.

I have dogs and one has intermittent incontinence issues. So it really needs to be washable.

I had the photo of my living room removed as I really like my curtains (they're just plain rust orange velvet ones for anyone wondering!) and the length looks fine to me.

I can only see the rugs and not the room.

Even so, I like the more faded and less structured/ colourful/ patterned rugs, so C, D, and E. I think they would go well with any decor.

I thought that to be honest.

I wonder if I invited these people round for an unrelated cuppa would they tell me my curtains need changing?! 😂

Yep. I spent alot of money on them (not MN money but alot to me, I love them. They're just rust orange velvet, plain.) And I don't want the love tainted by other people's opinions

I thought the curtains were lovely for what it's worth. The whole room is. Very warm and homely.

BaronessBomburst · 28/10/2023 19:09

I am one of the posters who commented on the length. I didn't mean to be rude. Blush I do really like them!

BigBoysDontCry · 28/10/2023 19:11

I also mentioned the length but did say only that it's my personal choice for them to reach the floor, they were lovely otherwise. I like seeing a home full of colour, partial to that myself. Won't be to everyone's taste just like all grey isn't my taste.

Hazey19 · 28/10/2023 19:13

I like C the best I think

I bet your curtains look amazing! Our living room was the first room we decorated in our first flat, took it from 70's chic, full rewire, restored coving, hours peeling off wallpaper only to discover wood chip wallpaper BENEATH that, entire room re-plastered, new carpet, custom made shelves and cabinets for the alcoves, custom made wooden mantle beam, knocking out the fireplace hole to make it big enough to fit in a little electric fire but not so big that the walls would collapse. And then lots of people told me how wrong it all was 😂 💔

The window is huge and those are 90" drop, 72" were too short.

I couldn't find any longer that weren't made to measure (couldn't afford) so had to just go with the 90"

Ah, it was difficult to tell how high from the photo. I'd be the same in terms of buying off the shelf but I live in a boring box so standard 90 drop is fine.

Honestly I'm sorry if the comments upset you. I did love all the colour and I liked the rug choices based on your circumstances and budget.

I'd love a colourful rug but instead we have a sheepskin one that has seen better days. Elderly DCat loves it so it'll need to stay for now.

That's so sad that you had to remove the photo.

I really like E !
