There is so much out there, but nothing seems to fit the bill any more.

We have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ (but not in UK so some things might not be available).

We have enjoyed: Spies in Disguise, Mitchells vs the Machines, Pokemon movie, Hotel Transylvania, Despicable Me, Shrek, Tangled, Cars, Emoji film, Mario Bros, Lego movies, Monsters Inc, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, Home, Sing, Trolls...

We only want animated, nothing that is too tragic or preachy. Something engaging and entertaining for adults and older teen, but fun and suitable for a slightly sensitive 8yo.

We have not all enjoyed: anything Dr Seuss, Encanto (anything with Hamilton guy involved), Planes, Monster Family, Sea Beast, probably loads more that I've just blanked.

Any ideas? There are SO MANY films out there, I need recommendations! Thanks!

It's not animated - Matilda? The og one, not the musical!

Not animated but The Adam Project - watched with my 13 and 11 year old this week.

Watched 101 Dalmatian’s recently - classic film! You could follow it up with live action film or Cruella (not sure age ratings)

NauseousNancy · 27/10/2023 14:42

You might like Ron’s gone wrong! My kids loved it. It’s came to mind when I read Mitchell’s vs machines.

Inside out is another nice one.

Saddest film ever 😥

thelongroad · 27/10/2023 14:45

Yes we enjoyed Ron's Gone Wrong! That's the kind of thing we're looking for, I think.
Didn't like Soul, Elemnatl, Inside Out, Up, Coco (I think we started them all but gave up - the subject matter I think was too serious)

I've been going "old school" with my kids move choices lately - Mrs Doubtfire, It Takes Two, Parent Trap, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Flubber etc. All of them are films I haven't seen in years, and my kids absolutely loved!

thelongroad · 27/10/2023 14:48

Basically trying to avoid anything too sad or heavy, nothing too moral or preachy, I can't bear anything with animal cruelty in it, DH is not at all keen on musicals (just about accepted Trolls and Sing), 8yo wants entertaining and nothing too serious, teen needs it to be a bit wry and clever (Mitchell vs the Machines was literally the perfect film for us).

IT IS SO DAMN HARD! But thank you, really, I am determined to find something!

(DS1 ha been away all week and we are trying to have a nice family movie night, hence me being a bit frantic about it all)
