The proper Cadbury's Time out bar with the chocolate Twirl bit in the middle instead of today's wafery one!

Isn't that a Spira?

MidnightMeltdown · 23/10/2023 16:10

McCain Pizza Rollas

Gilead · 23/10/2023 16:19

Sainsbury’s cream cheese with horseradish was bloody lush!
Also old English spangles.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 23/10/2023 16:21

Mcdonalds used to do a steak and cheese wrap that was delicious but short lived.

staybyyou · 23/10/2023 16:33

Marble chocolate bars, I loved them so much!

MamaBobo · 23/10/2023 16:45

M&S Fondant Fancies when they were made just for them. I think there were only 6 in a box, pink or yellow icing and the most delicious buttery cream on top. They were absolutely delicious. Replaced a few years ago by nasty little morsels that look exactly like Mr Kipling’s. Very sad about that.

And Texan Bars….I loved those. Giving my age away a bit there!

RedRosie · 23/10/2023 17:46

@Poppydieu you can still get Cranks wholemeal bread from some Waitrose branches. My very old Father loves it, and I bring it up from London to the north when I visit. But I also know where you can sometimes get it in the Midlands if you are there. My Mother says it's like Discworld battle bread (Pratchett fans will get that!).

APurpleSquirrel · 23/10/2023 17:57

The original M&S Percy Pigs, when they still contained pig - absolutely ruined since it's all gone vegan. I posted on AIBU about it years ago & was roundly told I was being unreasonable apparently Hmm
In fact lots of sweets have been ruined by removing the gelatine - such a shame. RIP Fruit Gums.
Original Cadbury TimeOuts - the current ones are crap.
Spira's & Secrets too.
Sainsbury's did a fab Jumbalya jar sauce about 10 years ago which was so good - not authenticate at all but still so easy & tasty.
Frozen tubs of chocolate mousse.
Sara Lee chocolate gateaux - actually ate a vegan chocolate cake this year that tasted almost exactly the same!
Original Vienetta when there was significantly more chocolate in it, proper sheets & ripples.
Refreshers - wtf happened to them? Now they just taste of tasteless sherbet.
Walkers Sensations Caramelised Onion & Balsamic Vinegar crisps - they could shred the roof of your mouth but where so good - then they reformulated them & they aren't the same, the balance is completely off.
Cadbury chocolate - the addition of Shea Butter was the final death knell for me.
Back in the 90s, Safeway I think, did a lovely Mediterranean Roast Vegetable Plait which was so good.

APurpleSquirrel · 23/10/2023 18:01

@curliegirlie Nooo.... completely different! Spira's we're just chocolate in a spiral form; whereas TimeOuts were half a flake sandwiched between wafer & covered in chocolate.

Squeez orange juice from a can that you had to dilute. It was amazing.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 23/10/2023 18:09

Oh I am reading back now and Ricicles were my absolute favourite. No idea why they went. And the McRIb yum. Also pyramint.

Not sure if jamaican ginger cake has been discontinued but it cannot be gotten in any of my local stores since covid hit.

Random141 · 23/10/2023 18:15

Those tinned Heinz steamed chocolate puddings.. had them as a child for a ‘posh’ pudding on a Sunday!

Neverinamonthofsundays · 23/10/2023 18:23

Flyte bars - they were like a double milky way for adults.

Yoplait yoghurts that were 'still' i cannot think of the word. Not a mousse but a heavy non liquidy yoghurt. It will come to me.

Jersey creams.

bmrising · 23/10/2023 20:17

Years and years ago Asda used to do a chocolate that had rice crispies in, it was so nice I still remember it 🥲 although never been able to find any evidence that it ever existed since!

Thorntons dark chocolate ginger bars. All you can get now are lumps of glacé ginger covered in chocolate, but these had a lovely ganache centre and a knobbly outside

I loved the golden syrup one in tins.

Loubelle70 · 23/10/2023 20:53

Nibb its Wheelz. (these were puffed potato like things , we always had them in the pub when waiting around for parents)

MamaBobo · 23/10/2023 20:58

BensonStabler · 23/10/2023 01:16

Visa-Versa’s chocolates (kind of like minstrels but the brown shelled one had white chocolate inside and the white shell had brown inside)

Pyramint (chocolate pyramid with gooey minty centre)

Fuse bar

Spira

McDonald’s Chicken legend & caramel sundae.

the original tooty fruities, jellytots, fruit pastels, and smarties, and wham bars. Oh and oh flavour of M&S’s Percy pigs before they killed them too.

penny sweet mixtures full of sugar, gelatin and additives lol before everything started to taste like harbo’s, ie you have a cola bottle that actually tastes like cola, and a jelly ring and milk bottles that don’t all taste like the same thing!

Oh yes….Pyramint…loved those.

I hadn’t realised that it was making things vegan that had changed them so much. I was given Jelly Tots recently…..used to absolutely love them….they were rubbish and I was so disappointed. At least now I know why!

EtiennePalmiere · 23/10/2023 21:01

A marks and Spencer cauliflower bowl with tofu, pomegranate and lots of other stuff, so good. Also something called crown pilot crackers, I would love to have a box to dig into again.

slavetothekittens · 23/10/2023 21:13

M&S used to do a delicious pack of rice and veg cutlets, sorely missed. And their roast vegetable sandwich.

DressDown · 23/10/2023 21:14

Flapjacks from Superdrug
My mum used to always buy them for us when we went into town in the 90's. The cherry and coconut one was soo good. I don't think I've ever found anything similar.

ButDaddyILoveHim · 23/10/2023 21:17

Thank you for reminding me about Pyramint - delicious!

Also a shout-out to the OG of pre-packed sandwiches - the M&S chicken tikka with the raita dressing. Sadly missed.

SequinsandStiIettos · 23/10/2023 21:22

Ross's Potato crunchies
Sainsbo's Prawn and coriander spring rolls
Sainsbo's chicken makhani
M+S caramel cake
Cabana bars (bounty with caramel and glace cherries in)
And am struggling to get Britvic 55 atm

Crimsonripple · 23/10/2023 21:23

Homepride chicken in peppercorn sauce. I have no idea why they discontinued it!

I don't think Jelly Tots ever contained gelatine. Fruit Pastilles and many others did, but not Jelly Tots.
