She's died at 66. Feeling very sad. I loved her performances in all sorts of things, not the least being Camilla in the Windsors.

The patron Saint of gorgeous women who somehow manage to act gawky and awkward without being patronising.

I enjoyed her in so many things but I don't think I realised until today that they're all her if that makes any sense. What fantastic range.

Does anyone else remember her in the TV adaptation of the David Lodge novel "Nice Work" in 1980? She was wonderful.

Yes, I remember this very well

Such an excellent, versatile actress. She'll be much missed.

Midsomer Murders and Death in Paradise are 2 that I remember her from. Talented, gorgeous and always seemed very genuine.

Saw her on stage at the RSC and she was brilliant. Loved Nice Work and Drop the Dead Donkey but she was my absolute favourite in The Windsors. She was such an interesting and intelligent actor and I loved that air of sophistication she had. Playing Camilla showed that she also didn't take herself too seriously. I hope the BBC repeats Nice Work.

Saw her playing the Prue Leith type character in the Bake Off musical only this April. She had a fantastic singing voice and her high kicks were incredible! Can’t believe six months on she has died. Very sad.

so sad to hear about this
i used to love Drop the Dead Donkey
i know she had done a lot of theatre work
RIP

I was gutted when I heard this. Absolutely agree that her portrayal of Camilla has helped the real Camilla’s acceptance to the nation. Absolutely inspiring.

Haydn and Harriet Walters are two of my favourite actors, so wonderfully versatile.

DisforDarkChocolate · 21/10/2023 07:37

Very sad news, she was a fabulous actor.

What was that brilliant drama she was in in the 90s. She played an academic on a job swap with a car salesman she was great.

I'd totally forgotten she was in that. That was a great drama.

Me and DH heard the sad news when we were in the car on Friday. 66 is no age to go and it sounds as though it was incredibly quick. She was fabulous. A great actress whether she was doing drama or comedy and a wonderful singing voice. She was brilliant in the Gala Premier of Sondheim 'Old Friends' - DH said that he particularly liked the duet she did in the show with Rob Brydon, the name of which escapes me but it was about a married couple. I loved her version of The Ladies who Lunch which I think is from Company?

So, so good, and she will be very sadly missed.

I saw her in City of Angels decades ago, and bought the London Cast recording, so I've listened to her singing her big number "You Can Always Count on Me" countless times, it's an all time favourite.

That song is "The Little Things You Do Together"
I was at Old Friends yesterday, and kept thinking of her. What has really scared me (as well as feeling sad for her and her family) is how quickly it all happened.

That's it!

Yes, I know what you mean. Diagnosed in September and gone in October. No time at all 😪
