She's died at 66. Feeling very sad. I loved her performances in all sorts of things, not the least being Camilla in the Windsors.

The patron Saint of gorgeous women who somehow manage to act gawky and awkward without being patronising.

Does anyone else remember her in the TV adaptation of the David Lodge novel "Nice Work" in 1980? She was wonderful.

Yes! Brilliant book/show.

Snoeberry · 20/10/2023 18:44

Such Sad news, she was great as Camilla , and in lots of other things.
I've got the tv tie version of the novel Nice Work and she's on the front cover.

Pinkshoppingbag · 20/10/2023 18:52

She was good in Peak Practice too (one of my fave 90s shows!)

sashagabadon · 20/10/2023 18:53

Loved her as Camilla.

CorylusAgain · 20/10/2023 18:56

Really sad news. She was an absolutely fantastic actor. Such incredible style and grace - I've always yearned to be like her. Beautiful voice too.
I've loved her in everything I've seen her in starting with Nice Work and Drop The Dead Donkey. I love her popping up in things like Midsomer Murders too.
Musicals, theatre ,tv . Incredibly talented.

AutumnCrow · 20/10/2023 19:05

I actually think it was Haydn Gwynne not Camilla who rehabilitated Camilla's image in many ways, iyswim.

'Ooh I can imagine going for a drink with Camilla! I bet she's a right larf once she gets the tiara off!' - I've seen it on here more than once - and I do wonder if it's Haydn Gwynne that people wanted to go on the lash with.

Medlady · 20/10/2023 19:05

Damn. Had no idea she was ill. A real loss

DahliaMacNamara · 20/10/2023 19:10

I was truly sad to read about this earlier. Such a wonderful actor. I feel as if we've lost all those characters too.

mynameiscalypso · 20/10/2023 19:12

I am going to have to watch the Christmas Party episode of DTDD tonight I think. She was fabulous. I'm so sad although I hope that the swiftness of her passing means that she wasn't into pain for too long.

I do! She was perfect in the role of Robyn.

MaggieFS · 20/10/2023 19:29

Very sad. I can't think what the programme is I have in mind when I think of her. Still waiting for someone else to post it here and remind me.

MaidOfSteel · 20/10/2023 19:36

Sad news indeed. I.mostly remember her as Joanna in Peak Practice, but I also remember a guest role she played in Lovejoy.

AuntieDolly · 20/10/2023 19:37

That is so sad - I loved her in 'Nice Work' too.

Apparently she was only diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. So it was pretty quick.

Such a shame, she was an actor I always admired. 🙁

WinterCarlisle · 20/10/2023 19:43

Love Haydn Gwynne. Far too young. She was excellent as Camilla

DaisyWaldron · 20/10/2023 19:43

Oh, no 😪 I had a massive crush on her when I was a teenager, in Nice Work and Drop the Dead Donkey.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 20/10/2023 19:50

Saw her in the Donmar production of When Winston Went to War with the Wireless in July. It’s so sudden. Great actress sadly missed.

LakeTiticaca · 20/10/2023 19:52

Omg no way 😭

HaroldMeaker · 20/10/2023 19:59

I only know her as Camilla, she was hilarious. Far too young to go.

RosieMilkJug · 20/10/2023 20:03

May we all raise a glass 🥂and toast her, a wonderful actress and human being. She was one of a kind and will be sorely missed 😢

Really really sad to see this today. Loved her since Drop the Dead Donkey. She did my favourite ever episode of Jenny Eclairs Little Lifetimes. Rest in peace Haydn.

Yes - this was my first encounter with her, playing a young English Lit academic shadowing a businessman (Warren Clarke). She was fabulous - such sad news.
