Just wondering how much you paid? I’m looking at tickets and they’re in the region of £240+ unless you’re up in the gods. Can’t work out if they were always this expensive when they went on sale or if they’ve shot up in price now they’re nearly sold out?

I'm not but I want to! Where are they playing?

I've seen some of their previous concerts on YouTube and tbh I would probably pay 240 per ticket, especially as my partner and I could perhaps buy each other a ticket for a Christmas present. I used to love them back in the day. My partner is younger and got into them as they're apparently very big in Germany and the Baltic countries. Off to google...

dozydaisy · 19/10/2023 20:42

Yes me in birmingham standing. Was £200 for 2 tickets.

Instinct1 · 19/10/2023 20:45

Yeah, in Glasgow. Only tickets we could get were c £300.00. And husband bought from Viagogo so who knows if they exist! 🤞

They’re playing Manchester, London O2, Birmingham, Glasgow.

Ok so the price is probably standard (standardly expensive 💰💵 😂).
They were my sister’s fave band back in the day and am considering it as a Christmas gift. They’re not my usual music (rock chick at heart) but am listening now and surprised how much I remember!

Yes, somewhere around £70ish. Got them at the presale after bloody ages on the website. Seated right towards the back in the gods though.

hettiethehare · 19/10/2023 20:50

I’m going to the O2 and tickets were £100 each - not sure exactly where we are as my friend bought them but ‘not brilliant’ was what she said.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 19/10/2023 20:50

Considering it, will use Twickets last minute.
Glasgow, it's nearest me.

daisydalrymple · 19/10/2023 21:03

Thanks. I’ll ponder it over night.

I'm going to the O2 -tickets were about £145 (seats about half way back I think).

Went last night with a fellow Mumsnetter who I've had the pleasure of knowing for the last 10 years or so.

We paid £240 each but I figured it may be the last time we see them as they could retire at any time. This is I'll be justification for ALL tickets from now on.

It was amazing and worth every penny.

I'm glad that it was amazing. I toyed with going but my brother was worried that it would be a let down due to their age so we decided not to go. We last saw them in December 1993 for the final UK gig of the Devotional tour which was wild so little bro didn't want to ruin the memory - he still has the tour t-shirt!
By the time I thought about it again the tickets were £240 so decided to go to Download 2024 instead.
My brother bought us tickets to see a fab DM tribute band called Forced To Mode a few weeks ago and they were great. They're from Germany and this was their first visit to the UK. They model their look on the Devotional era and sound quite authentic so will see them again if they come back as they played continuously for 2.5hrs so it was worth the trip.
May be I'll convince him to go next time.

Oh wow thanks Inyourroom I did get tickets in the end, me and my sis are going to Manchester on Monday. Can’t wait now.

Our £240 tickets were VIP so a judged decision to pay that much.

I remember the Devotional tour. I'd first seen them on the World Violation tour.

I also went to see Forced to Mode with my DD, DGD and a friend earlier this month. Totally agree, they were absolutely brilliant! I've been a DM fan ever since they started back in 1981 when I was 17,and I still love them now. I would have loved to go and see them live but I'm not very good with the massive crowds that you get at these events (think the O2 capacity is 20 thousand!) as I have a mobility disability,so I opt for smaller events. What I liked about Forced to Mode was that not only did they play songs that DM don't do live any more, but that they did songs that DM have never played live. Can't wait to see them again when they come back to the UK.

MothralovesGojira · 25/01/2024 17:58

@ALongHardWinter

Yes, loved hearing Shake The Disease and Leave In Silence as well as some songs from Black Celebration although I'm still waiting for someone to add I Feel Loved to their set because DM didn't even play it on the Exciter tour.
We're also seeing another band next week called The Devout who model themselves on the Violator era who are quite good for an evening out. We quite like small venues too as you can get near from the front - we were some of the nutters dancing at the front at FTM!

dontforgetme · 25/01/2024 18:01

@InYourRoom I was there too! Absolutely amazing, was and am still so gutted it's over!

I'm going to see The Devout in May! I went to see them in May last year, and they were excellent, although I have to admit not quite as good as Forced to Mode!

MothralovesGojira · 25/01/2024 20:40

@ALongHardWinter
I've seen The Devout once before in 2022 so looking forward to it. I have rediscovered my love for DM in recent years so will definitely go and see them next time and drag my brother a long with me!

We're off to see a Muse tribute band this weekend. We get a lot of different tribute bands down our way as we have quite a few small venues - it's a fairly cheap, fun night out. I think that we've got about four different ones lined up for this year. We are desperate to see a Siouxsie & the Banshees one though but haven't been lucky enough so far to find one near to us.

Enjoy The Devout in May!

ALongHardWinter · 25/01/2024 22:35

MothralovesGojira I agree! Tickets for concerts are ridiculously expensive nowadays,so I think tribute bands is the way to go. In the last few years I've seen 2 tribute bands for Thin Lizzy,4 for The Beatles,2 for Madness/The Specials,2 for Depeche Mode and one for The Stranglers. Thoroughly enjoyed them all!

Yourownpersonaljesus · 28/01/2024 20:24

Did anyone see DM at the O2 last night? I went on Monday (and loved it) but the setlist for last night's looked better - Behind the Wheel and Somebody added. Really wanted to go last night too but couldn't get tickets.

dozydaisy · 28/01/2024 21:15

I went on Wednesday to the Birmingham concert. Was amazing and so worth the money.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 28/01/2024 21:54

@dozydaisy looks like you got Speak to Me instead of My Favourite Stranger (or Before we Drown on 27th). Was very happy they did Black Celebration.
