Countries You Would Visit Again

I think I would go back to most countries I have visited. Certainly the USA as so far I’ve only been to California & Washington. I would also return to Greece (had a lovely holiday on Crete & want to see the other islands), Turkey, France, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Denmark, Lanzarote, Morocco. Not fussed about Tenerife. Would definitely go back to Italy as I have only seen Venice & Florence.

I went to the USA for a year and visited 26 states.. some I'd go back to especially UTAH and Maine..
Also travelled / biked around Europe..( 9 countries).Switzerland and Austria was beautiful..as was Luxembourg and lichtenstein.. I'd go back .
We holiday six times a year now and visit the Greek islands/ Cyprus/ Lanzarote/ Algarve.
Went to Turkey for 1st time this year. Won't ever go back.

I think for me it's not whole countries that I would return to, but certain areas. As Canadians on west coast, it's difficult and more expensive to get to Europe, but there are lots of places I would love to go to, not necessarily the same spots.

Mexico is more accessible for us, we like the west coast better than the east.

We haven't really had any experiences that put us off a certain area or country, but we are narrowing down what makes a good destination for us, and what's on out bucket list.

For a quick week in the sun, it's easy to go back to a certain spot that ticks all the boxes, but for the sake of exploring the world, there may be spots that you wouldn't go back to just because you've seen it once, and that was enough.

Japan. First time there in September - already planning to return.

MissAmbrosia · 18/10/2023 20:17

I love Italy and could just visit different bits of it forever. I went to Oslo a couple of years ago and really want to do much more of Scandinavia though. And Germany - a much underrated country.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/10/2023 20:18

I've been to about 43 countries (depending how you count) and the only place (let alone country) I wouldn't go back to is LA. Shithole. There is always something unique, special but also familiar and homey.

I love travelling <sigh>

Curlewwoohoo · 18/10/2023 20:19

Slovenia
New Zealand

I'd like to take the kids.

Other places I would pick somewhere new instead.

Goodornot · 18/10/2023 20:19

Iceland

skippy67 · 18/10/2023 21:08

Italy.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 18/10/2023 21:11

Iceland, Bhutan, France always.

UsingChangeofName · 18/10/2023 21:15

New Zealand. Absolutely loved it.

I've liked lots of places, but feel the World is just a massive place, on the whole I'd choose to keep going to places I've not been to before.

So depends if you mean "I'd go back to again and again" or "I'd recommend to everyone"

JetBlackSteed · 18/10/2023 21:16

Croatia, Sardinia, Rhodes. All beautiful. Hated Turkey.

Lentilweaver · 18/10/2023 21:18

I can't think of any I wouldnt visit again. There were cities in the US I didn't like, but I would definitely visit the country again.

echt · 18/10/2023 21:31

Japan. Been twice and would definitely go again.

trader21c · 18/10/2023 21:32

Vietnam, LA, Greek islands, Spain Costa Blanca, Thailand

Id never go back to SF though

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/10/2023 21:33

There's a couple I would but I would t tell you because more foreigners would ruin it Grin

One of them is one of the least visisted safe countries in the world. You can all stay away!

Its5656 · 18/10/2023 21:38

Kefalonia.. I'd move there now if I could, heaven on Earth.

MintJulia · 18/10/2023 21:47

I'd avoid Lanzarote, Dominican Republic, Ireland, Germany and Sri Lanka.

Everywhere else, I would happily return to - all the Nordics, most of the rest of Europe, Barbados, Tobago, South Africa, US, Canada, Indonesia, various north African countries. All interesting and welcoming.

This sounds amazing, what did you visit in Utah and Maine that was particularly amazing, if you wouldn't mind sharing?

Nomorecoconutboosts · 18/10/2023 21:51

I went to Kenya and I had such an intense and amazing time with vivid and beautiful memories
I’d love to return but the circumstances would not be the same again.

TotalOverhaul · 19/10/2023 09:23

Japan and US. US because a family member is soon moving there and I want to visit them - also so many places there I've not yet been. Japan because of all the places I fell in love with when visiting them, this is the one that overwhelmed me. Beyond these, I want to explore new places.

Why would you avoid Sri Lanka? I know several people who have been and it was their favourite place of all. It is very high on my list of places to visit next.

Lentilweaver · 19/10/2023 09:56

Been to Sri Lanka 4 times- I have family in Southern India- and would go another 4 times! It's wonderful.

Thank goodness. It's on my list and I was worried.

Lentilweaver · 19/10/2023 14:15

Well it is Asia and not a rich country- and now having an economic crisis- so be prepared for some hassling and discomfort, I guess. I am Asian myself, so I have a thick skin. But I love the food, the people, the beaches as well as mountains, the temples... For a small country, it packs a lot in.

I also loved Turkey so make of that what you will.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 19/10/2023 14:19

Oman
South Africa
Singapore

Mind you, my own country is so big (Canada) that there’s plenty still to see.

I chuckled at @mdinbc with the places you only need to see once. I have to say Lake Louise is pretty near the top of that list!

A couple of US cities I wouldn’t go back to - San Diego, San Francisco and LA.
