A couple of things I've enjoyed recently on Netflix. What about you?

A Swedish (subtitled) satire/horror film called The Conference (violent imaginative murders everywhere (looked away at the hot-tub bitShock).

A crime/murder/detective film called Reptile (Justin Timberlake is in it, I never realised until after). Really enjoyed this one.

Another vote for Lupin here

NashvilleQueen · 17/10/2023 19:56

I'm recommending Caliphate. About Isis brides and set in Sweden and Syria. Some really tense moments.

MarchXX · 17/10/2023 20:14

@xyz111 I watched the first episode of Beckham and found it really interesting, though I have no interest in football. He was a very driven young man with a single-minded passion for football. I love how he and Victoria are together, too. It is worth a look, at the first episode, for sure.

I absolutely loved Dark even though it was probably the most confusing thing I have ever watched 😂

Redlarge · 17/10/2023 20:18

The end of the fucking world... amazing acting

WaitTheNoo · 17/10/2023 20:20

Just finished that The Fall of the House of Usher last night after a total binge and I really liked it.

Who is Erin Carter is great fun. Behind Her Eyes is brilliant too. Dear Child very gripping thriller.

I liked it but it bugged me that it was set in spain but they spoke E glish

TravellingT · 17/10/2023 20:27

Motherland, binged in last night and stayed up till 3am to finish it.
Behind her eyes was great
Gilmore girls is a classic

Annoyingly Heartstopper was sweet, but cheesy. I know the author and she's a twat so i won't recommend it

PuzzledMind · 17/10/2023 20:28

Seinfeld. Loving it! First time I'm ever watching it. Can't believe I passed on it for so long.

beetr00 · 17/10/2023 20:29

others I'd forgotten, first 2 are excellent, 3rd may be an acquired taste 😉

How does the twatery manifest itself?

PuzzledMind · 17/10/2023 20:32

@GoldenKiwi This show had such promise. I enjoyed it at first but after a while it was far too much for me. Most of the plot was totally lost on me by Season 2 and decided to call it a day.

Loved the opening theme tune though!

LeonardoAcropolis · 17/10/2023 20:34

Dark, probably the best show on Netflix or anywhere else.

Glitch

Russian Doll

Haunting of Hill House

SomethingFun · 17/10/2023 20:40

Lockwood and co is brilliant.

If you like American comedies, Superstore is really funny.

The Arnold documentary is fascinating. I also really enjoyed the first two episodes of Beckham.

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 17/10/2023 20:51

I watched The Fall when it was newly out and thought it was brilliant and truly terrifying. Years later I went with a friend to watch 50 Shades as she had a spare ticket and I didn’t know Jamie Dornan played Mr Grey and I was horrified. Spent the whole film internally shrieking for Dakota Johnson to run before it was too late. Gillian Anderson is absolutely masterful in it too.

Criminal is a fantastic and vastly underrated show. The one with Raj from the Big Bang Theory made my jaw drop. No ones ever seen it though, I mention it to folks all the time and they look at me nonplussed.

I'm watching Orange is the New Black. I know it's been out for a few years now, but I've never seen it before and am really enjoying it.

Don’t bother with the final season

delilabell · 17/10/2023 14:54

Dear Child is fabulous....however I'm doubting if it's on netflix or not now!

My dd watched this and loved it. She has recommended it to me and says she keeps thinking about it, something she hasn't done with any series for a while

delilabell · 17/10/2023 21:18

Oh yes "criminal" is wonderful. It also has the man from the reckoning in (not Steve coogan)
The missing, the fall, the cry (lots of the) are also brill

ThatshallotBaby · 17/10/2023 21:25

Breaking Bad is my all time favourite thing.

Oh that's disappointing about Heartstopper. I have read the comics and wish that a lot of the messages around mental health, how to support friends/partners, consent, healthy boundaries etc had been around when I was a teenager.

Then again, I am sure there are a lot of authors whose books I enjoy but are actually twats but I have no idea, so I will probably keep enjoying them! (Even through the cheesy bits)

merrymelodies · 17/10/2023 15:32

Studio 54 documentary was interesting. I was in my early teens at the time so remember the music and the hype.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was excellent. I was sad when it finished.

I absolutely LOVED Queen Charlotte. More than I liked Bridgerton!

Other things I have enjoyed recently on Netflix are The Young Sheldon, Community and Superstore. I like to rewatch Poldark and Call The Midwife as well as The Big Bang Theory and we're heading into the cheesy Christmas film season too.

DinosaurOfFire · 17/10/2023 21:40

Oh and I really liked 'Never Have I Ever'.

TravellingT · 17/10/2023 22:23

Whatwouldnanado · 17/10/2023 20:31

How does the twatery manifest itself?

I know her personally, she's an in-law of a close friend.

I know directly she is very manipulative and abusive, my friend has said she's been abusive and coercive in relationships. She's not very well known despite her success so no one knows!

I absolutely loved dear child and it was on Netflix a couple of weeks ago when I watched it.

I also really liked ‘inside man’.

And I’m currently watching ‘Glitch’ which I’m loving and it’s one of those where I can put my phone down the entire time.

Absolutely loved Glitch and got everyone I possibly could to watch it too. Haven't seen the latest series though as want to re watch before as I'm sure I've forgotten parts.

ellebelli · 18/10/2023 10:39

Think I might have started watching glitch but for some reason gave up...might have to try again.
Is it the one with a sort of young guy who was a solider in the past?(I liked him) Can't tell from looking online.
