What are you doing?

I'm awaiting a surprise from DP who's away at sea. Should be here before 12 then I'll nap before my night shift,

I've already walked the dog, been to Tesco, done 2 loads of laundry, ironed my scrubs, and done 30 mins on the treadmill.

Come tell me about your day

Wow I bet you’re excited ! How long have they been away?
ive changed the sheets on beds , put washing on, started stuff for dinner tonight the usual stuff
now I’m going out to do something just for me, I will be a while 😀

Lottie4 · 17/10/2023 10:51

Not very exciting. Ironing, catching up on washing and load number three in - luckily breezy here so can dry outside. Going to work shortly for a couple of hours, DH picking me up after and going into town where I might buy some xmas cards, oh and want a tshirt/vest for wearing under work clothes as it's so cold in the winter! I think coffee and cake while in town will improve the day.

Viewfrommyhouse · 17/10/2023 10:51

Just had our conservatory roof replaced with a lite tile system, so will now deep clean it ready for decorating. Also, laundry and school run, then after school activity run too. Run of the mill stuff really!

Rocknrollstar · 17/10/2023 10:52

I’ve painted a thank you card for friends as we have just come back from staying with them. We are going out for lunch with other friends and then I will visit someone who has just had a minor operation. No need to cook as we have leftovers (daughter made too much yesterday). Tomorrow will be busier.

Plump82 · 17/10/2023 10:54

Nothing exciting. Work 6 -2, when I finish I'll make mushroom bourguignon that we were meant to have on Sunday but I was too hungover over! A nap might feature later on as well!

Silkiefloof · 17/10/2023 10:58

A surprise sounds exciting.

Nothing too much here. The ladies painting and decorating outside of the house started at 8.45am and been keeping the cat out of the way, he's a 1.1 metre Maine Coon so that's my weight lifting done. DH is wfh. DD gone to school. Collecting a birthday cake soon. Conference call. DH has a meeting. Bins out. Jackets for lunch.

He's only been away for 4 weeks. Another 4 weeks to go. I messed up his plan by agreeing to do overtime tonight. When he arranged the surprise I was on a day off 🙈😂

Does that make it warmer in winter? Out conservatory is a huge space which is never used in the winter months!

A nice day today.

Just been for a 2 hour walk with a good friend.

WFH and coursework for the rest of day. They're intertwined.

cooking toad in the hole for dinner

bellringing and pub this evening

Laurdo · 17/10/2023 11:03

I got up at 6am this morning with DH. Made his breakfast and packed lunch and saw him off to work. Then did the dishwasher and put a wash on. Currently working with "the receipts" podcast in the background. After work I'll go to CrossFit, have dinner with DH (tonight is his turn to cook). Then I have a cardboard and paper mache plane to paint for a Halloween costume at the weekend. We're going as maverick and goose from top gun. DH has a Skype court case tomorrow because his ex gf is scrounging money from the sale of his house that she paid nothing towards, so I'll help him prepare for that. We've got 2 night booked in a suite at hotel du vin which we got a voucher for for our wedding. Booked it for immediately after the court case to give us something to look forward to after the stress of it all. So we'll be packing a case tonight for our trip. Will probably watch a movie in bed together.

Day of annual leave so school run, Asda shop, mountains of washing and relaxing watching rubbish tv. It's lovely!

CoodleMoodle · 17/10/2023 11:15

I dropped the DC off at school and then flew around the house tidying it up because the landlord was coming over to look at the leaky roof (I've known for a couple of days but haven't had a chance to sort it, plus I work better under pressure!). Did basically the whole house and then he only came into the living room for two minutes! Still, at least the house is visitor ready again.

DH is out all day for work and I was going to get all of the winter clothes out and put the summer things away, but... I'm tired, now!

Jen91983 · 17/10/2023 11:33

I’ve walked the dog, seen son off to school, tidied the house, washed up, done 3 loads of washing, sorted mine and sons holiday clothes as we go to kos next Tuesday! Just need to iron and pack case. Having a little break first ☕️

LeviOsaNotLeviosaa · 17/10/2023 11:38

A reasonably busy SAHM day today. I did the school run this morning (2 schools, takes an hour in the car!) then went to get my nails done. Now I'm back home, have done a bit of housework, just waiting to put lunch together for me and DH (he WFH).

After lunch I have a few errands to run, vinted parcel drop offs etc. Then it's more school run, parents evening and two separate after school clubs in different locations to get the DC to this evening. Home to cook, then collapse into bed.

Decafflatteplease · 17/10/2023 11:41

I'm a SAHM with all children in school.

School run this morning, then took one DC to a routine appointment. Took them back to school then nipped to shops for some bits for dinner.

Home now, got a wash on, caught up on emails.

Lunch break 1230-1.15

This afternoon I need to do some admin work, wash dishes then school run again!

Its half term for me at the moment so I'm at home. The neighbour's grandson is visiting this week, he and my son are such good friends and today its the grandson's birthday party so my son has gone over there, and then the neighbour invited my daughter as well (she's 12 so wouldn't have thought she wanted to go to a 6 year old's birthday party but the thought of cake was enough to make her want to go over) and I'm going to head over in an hour when its cake time, in the meantime I'll take advantage of being child-free and bike to the shop quickly as we've run out of some things.

I've got to do some studying later, for an aerodynamics exam next week, and a math exams but I'm less worried about that but I do need to remind myself what function is in maths because I can't remember.

Tlolljs · 17/10/2023 12:08

Bit of a lie in this morning. Folded dry washing, put another load on. Put that on the line blowy here so hopefully will get mostly dry.
General tidy whizzed round with hoover, I think it’s on its last legs though.
Going to make a sarnie for lunch. Start work at 3. Home at 9. Quick shower and bed.

familyissues12345 · 17/10/2023 12:12

I'm being really lazy, I've done bugger all really..!

Watched the final episode of Sex Education, whilst eating a vegan bacon roll.

There we go, I've admitted I'm being a lazy arse today Grin

AirGapped · 17/10/2023 12:14

I should be getting ahead with work before hosting grandchildren for the two week break but I’m roaming MN instead Hmm

Oooh would you mind sharing the recipe please? I stopped eating meat a couple of years ago and was just thinking yesterday how much I missed beef bourguignon!

Will found out soon! But it's already cooler in the good weather, so hoping it won't be such an icebox in the winter. We're putting a bioethanol fireplace (woodburner style) in there for colder months. It's such a lovely outlook and a decent size (approx 25sqm) so I really want to get some use out of it 😊.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/10/2023 13:14

It's my birthday! Treated myself to a McDonald's breakfast. Went to visit my friend who is in a nursing home. As it's also his birthday. Then having a spa afternoon with my mum later on. They have come to stay for a few days. Which I was dreading but it's actually not been to bad.

nobleisle · 17/10/2023 13:22

Went to a toddler music class this morning, then out for coffee/cake with a friend and the kids. Just got home, toddler is sleeping in watching ghosts and eating lunch scrolling. Cleaner has been this morning so even tho I have mountains of laundry to put away im havinf a rest before 2 classes this afternoon

Teddleshon · 17/10/2023 13:25

Taking advantage of my DH‘s absence to make several trips to the local tip. He is an horrendous hoarder.

Heyhoherewegoagain · 17/10/2023 13:27

I’ve hung out the 3 loads of washing that I was actually organised enough to put on an eco wash last night-major win with the eco wash!
Rejigged the washing line so it still catches the sun now it’s not so high in the sky.
Made a huge pot of minestrone soup, and a base for sauce for bolognese, amd done some major procrastination 😂
I need to take the dog out and do some baking
