What's keeping you awake tonight?

For me it's toddler DS.
He's poorly with a fever and I finally caved and brought him into my bed (and gave him some medicine).

He's currently showing no sign of settling.
I'll be tired at work later this morning - but we'll roll with it.

Beloved dog staying on 48 hour observation after emergency dash to the vet earlier this evening (she had chewed a foil strip of tablets which may or may not have had medication in. If anything happens to her my DD will be broken. Mildly freaking out and not remotely tired which will really not help with the huge work project I have due tomorrow.

Hope your little boy's fever breaks soon.

Cowlover89 · 16/10/2023 02:59

Hope your son gets better soon and you both get some sleep

Got a tickley cough keeping me up. 30 weeks pregnant so very tiring + PGP X

RJnomore1 · 16/10/2023 03:00

Monday work dread

unlikelychump · 16/10/2023 03:02

Standard middle of night can't get back to sleep.

Had a dream I saved some people drowning, so now I will be awake for a while thinking of all the things that need doing at work or at home

mowly77 · 16/10/2023 03:03

Cancer. & the drugs I’m taking. I fall asleep quickly yet wake up with a start about half an hour later and can’t get back to sleep.

Unideal as early start to hospital tomorrow. Taken double sleeping pills and that normally lends me 4-5 hours.

Cancer. The unwanted gift that nevertheless keeps giving

Also cat is now on my lap washing herself so loudly she’s breaking the sound barrier. I’m waiting for healing purring frequencies please Brenda.

drspouse · 16/10/2023 03:05

Woke up needing the loo but I'm wobbly on my feet after waking up due to an illness. So I'm putting off going!

settleupandgo · 16/10/2023 03:07

I've got a very itchy head. Worried DC has brought nits home again. I don't have time to spray my hair tomorrow and sit with the treatment on all day while I WFH and then wash it off and dry hair. My hair is quite long and takes forever to wash and dry. I hadn't factored that into my day for tomorrow (or rather for today)

CattingAbout · 16/10/2023 03:09

I've got a wheezy toddler with a bad cold asleep on my chest. Just had to use his inhaler (which he hates) followed by calpol and cuddles. He's now snoring and I'm wide awake.

Maddy70 · 16/10/2023 03:10

Crippling period pain ...

MsDeanna36 · 16/10/2023 03:11

Stress. I'm 4 weeks pregnant and have had previous losses. Also I have a painfully lump(maybe lymph node) under my armpit that I discovered earlier. I'm worried my cancer is back or its an infection that could harm my pregnancy. Hopefully I can get a doctors appointment tomorrow

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 16/10/2023 03:12

Babysitting a 1 month old while his parents get some sleep. He’s due to wake up again in a bit - lots of grunting…… I will have a nap in the pm after I’ve done some work in the morning.
Happy to do this job, but so glad I don’t have kids of my own!

fitflopqueen · 16/10/2023 03:14

Taking DH to airport, need to leave at 4am so haven’t really slept at all. He is sound asleep here.

NunsKnickers · 16/10/2023 03:16

Standard peri menopause waking at 2am. Such a joy!

I've just made myself a cup of tea and am listening to an audio book.

I will probably doze off again in an hour or so, but luckily I'm not at work tomorrow.

Hugs to all of you, especially those with health problems and worries.

Rewindthefilm · 16/10/2023 03:19

Sending love to you all.

I woke up at 2.30 to go to the loo and now can’t get back to sleep. Day off today but work stress keeps creeping in and I’m mentally putting together To Do lists to keep on top of it, and also brain trying to to think positive thoughts during first trimester. And I can’t work out if I am genuinely hungry or not.

NunsKnickers · 16/10/2023 03:20

@Rewindthefilm

Same about the hunger.

I had a spoonful of peanut butter just in case. 😁

newfriend05 · 16/10/2023 03:20

Heartbroken as had to put my beautiful dog to sleep last week, I'm just so sad

Getabloominmoveon · 16/10/2023 03:22

In a holiday home in the countryside in Italy and woken up by some weird noises downstairs. Probably just house groaning/plumbing but am lying here monitoring it. Husband snoring next to me.

weegiemum · 16/10/2023 03:22

Gurgly tummy so had to get up to poo.

Few things going on that are making me stressed including waiting for a second biopsy on a breast lump (first was hopeful but they didn't get enough tissue to rule out cancer).

Dh is stressed with work so that's stressing me out too, ds is off travelling in Australia midweek (I know he'll have a ball, he's 21 and can look after himself), dd1 is looking to buy a flat so on the phone 100 times a day and dd2 has a new slightly inappropriate new bloke (she's 19, he's 27) around a lot. So just general kid stuff. Big kids, bigger problems!

Anyway, back to the toilet! Really bad gurgliness!

Sorry about the cancer and sleep. Is cat purring healing? Mine shoved her nose in my ear earlier today, tbh I was not ready for the odd sensation and bizarre snuffling sounds. She's a very sparingly affectionate cat not prone to random invasions of earholes Hmm.

I'm awake because I didn't wake up until 11am.

Lastchancechica · 16/10/2023 03:36

So many sad reasons why people are still awake. So sorry to read them 🙏🏻

I have a really nasty covid cough and cough all night. It’s been 26 days now and I am getting so tired. Wondering how I am going to manage tomorrow. I haven’t the energy to even get up and go to the loo.

Guavafish1 · 16/10/2023 03:39

migraine, which is affecting the left side of my head, teeth, shoulder, arm, thigh, hip and foot.

feel like I'm about to vomit too

hellohellothere · 16/10/2023 03:47

Ear infection. I've taken my allowance of painkillers so can't take anymore for a few hours and I have screaming tinnitus. I hope the spray works soon

Tittyfilarious81 · 16/10/2023 03:48

@Maddy70 same here 😔

octoberfarm · 16/10/2023 03:58

Awake thinking of the Israel/Palestine situation which just feels so incredibly sad, and waiting for our internet to stop playing silly buggers so I can trust that my Type 1's blood sugar alarms will wake me in the night if needs be.

Sending love to you @mowly77, and wishing you all the best with your treatment. My cats are loud purrers and even louder cleaners too.

@MsDeanna36, wishing you all the lucky in the world with this pregnancy and hoping the lymph node turns out to be nothing to worry about.

Wishing everyone a good night's sleep in the end Flowers

holamums · 16/10/2023 03:58

COVID 😖 I'm just annoyed knowing who I got it off after they turned up to a kids birthday party with it and their child also had it! I know it's not law but some people have no decency whatsoever!
