'Safe' wedding dress or something a little more special?

Option 1 is very like this
Liz Embroidered Bridal Dress Ivory | Wedding Dresses | Monsoon UK.
I like that my arms would be covered, I would be able to dance in it easily, it would be lovely and very me. I do feel like I basically wear a coloured and knee length version of it every summer.

Option 2 is more of a princess style. It does show my wibbly arms and I'm possibly too old for it (33?) . I did love it on and it felt more special...

Option 2 obviously. You tried it on it or felt more special. Hopefully you'll only get married once, have the dress that makes you feel fabulous.

Carsarelife · 10/10/2023 20:06

I think 2 is beautiful.
Number 1 is nice but the sort of dress I might wear on a normal summers day but it is super flattering and if you'd be more comfortable in that then that's the one.
If you want to step out of your comfort zone go for 2.

Doggymummar · 10/10/2023 20:07

They are both lovely, and well priced, one for ceremony and one for reception?

Definitely number 2. You’re not too old for it and it’s meant to be ‘special’, it’s your big day!

ChamaChamaChamaChameleon · 10/10/2023 20:10

Special of course!

londonguild · 10/10/2023 20:11

Number 1 for me! Simple and classic but that's just personal preference. I've never been one for fussy! X

AnneKipankitoo · 10/10/2023 20:12

You have to try it on and see how you feel in it.

TerfTalking · 10/10/2023 20:12

I prefer 1. I think it’s simple and classy.

Alloveragain3 · 10/10/2023 20:13

Number 2.
You only get to wear a wedding dress once (usually!)

lizzie0712 · 10/10/2023 20:14

The second one. Wear what you love and makes you feel special!

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 10/10/2023 20:15

However old you are, you aren't too old for #2 if you love it.

I prefer 2. 1 looks cheaper and is too boring.

gotomomo · 10/10/2023 20:15

@Alloveragain3

If only.

Option 2 is lovely but only if it was less of a trip hazard, so depends on your height!

caringcarer · 10/10/2023 20:17

Option 2 is stunning. Go for it. You want to feel really special on your wedding day.

SM4713 · 10/10/2023 20:21

I'd be reading recent reviews for JJ house! Its a Chinese supplier and having bought something from a similar supplier- I WOULDN'T!!! I personally don't like the style of the 2nd one because the 'sleeves' look to be falling off and redundant.

Equally, the glum face of the model in number 1 says it all. Personally, I'd keep looking OP.

writeitonthewall · 10/10/2023 20:23

They're not the actual dresses but similar. Definitely not risking JJ's House!

I am liable to fall over my own feet Grin I am feeling nervous about it all already so not sure if a comfortable, safe design will help or go for the special one.

FWIW I bought DD a prom dress from JJ house in panic mode. Had we waited a few weeks (which I am sure you would have for a wedding) we would have booked a few trial dresses or maybe sent her measurements in.

Think about the location, season
, other guests and budget.

Good luck

ShirleyPhallus · 10/10/2023 20:26

How sad that you feel like 33 is too old to wear that wedding dress! Definitely not. It’s much nicer than the first one

ps, don’t put this in style and beauty or you’ll be told they’re both awful and be promptly directed towards an Amish sack in a fetching shade of sludge

writeitonthewall · 10/10/2023 20:27

Location is very ornate church (uncovered shoulders now accepted as ok!) and then onto a hotel.

Like them both, but a wedding is special surely. Go for the one that makes you feel fabulous.

One does not look cheaper!! JJ's house is not good quality!

writeitonthewall · 10/10/2023 20:28

Most of my friends married at 25-27 and I do feel so much older. I know it's daft.

Definitely dress 2. Just lose the hanging off sleeves!

writeitonthewall · 10/10/2023 20:32

I love the hanging off sleeves!

Why don't you have a look at Jenny Yoo/ Galvan?

TedWilson · 10/10/2023 20:33

2!

That is all.
