'Safe' wedding dress or something a little more special?

Option 1 is very like this
Liz Embroidered Bridal Dress Ivory | Wedding Dresses | Monsoon UK.
I like that my arms would be covered, I would be able to dance in it easily, it would be lovely and very me. I do feel like I basically wear a coloured and knee length version of it every summer.

Option 2 is more of a princess style. It does show my wibbly arms and I'm possibly too old for it (33?) . I did love it on and it felt more special...

(these aren't the exact dresses, just very close to)

Keep trying dresses until you feel absolutely fabulous, obviously. And sod what anyone else thinks!

Starseeking · 10/10/2023 20:42

Style 2 is beautiful 😍😍😍 Go for it!

Blueuggboots · 10/10/2023 20:45
  1. But jj's house have a lot of terrible reviews!

Love the first one!

StrongGirlsClub · 10/10/2023 20:45

Option 2!

GreenVelvetCushions · 10/10/2023 20:48

I don't like the hanging off sleeves.
I'd go with number 1.
But which suits you best? You need to try them on op!

GreenVelvetCushions · 10/10/2023 20:50

I like this one!

Option 2.

It's fabulous, you will look radiant and in no way are you too young for it.

burntoutnurse · 10/10/2023 20:55

Wear what makes you feel special! Not to old at all!

I'll be 42 when we get married next year, when I went dress shopping I wanted arms covered, boobs covered, a line, no sparkle, bit of a lace.

Every a line dress I tried on looked hideous and made me feel awful.

I've bought similar to this...

Skirt is plain though! Top is more sparkly and to finish it off I'm having a big long cathedral veil Grin

How sad that you feel like 33 is too old to wear that wedding dress! Definitely not. It’s much nicer than the first one

ps, don’t put this in style and beauty or you’ll be told they’re both awful and be promptly directed towards an Amish sack in a fetching shade of sludge

This made me LOL 😂

Rollinghill · 10/10/2023 20:58

Option 2 definitely!

ValancyRedfern · 10/10/2023 20:59

2 all the way! I personally prefer it, but the reason I'm saying go for it is that you clearly prefer it! 1 just looks like a normal dress not a wedding dress.

RabbitsRock · 10/10/2023 21:03

2 is beautiful. And I didn’t get married til I was 36 - felt like a princess!

Olika · 10/10/2023 21:08

Go for a dress that makes you feel amazing

If you feel like selling it on after please let me know, I’m looking for exactly that type of dress and not getting married until 2025!

Lottie4 · 10/10/2023 21:09

Dress 2 is beautiful, but I wouldn't feel comfortable in it as its a bit too revealing for me.

Whatever you choose, feel it's right for you personally anhayou'd be happy to where all day, especially if it's likely to be a summer wedding - I've known a bride ditch her dress half way through wedding reception as it was too hot and uncomfortable.

MuckyPlucky · 10/10/2023 21:15

Dress 1! Love the retro vibe of the sleeves.

Dress 2 makes me instantly anxious that it’s falling-down! I’d be yanking it up all day.

ActDottie · 10/10/2023 21:17

Option 2 all the way! Option 1 is nice but I think it gives me more 50+ age bride vibes.

itsmyp4rty · 10/10/2023 21:18

For me number 1 is meh. 2 is much nicer but I would keep wanting to put the straps up.

burntoutnurse · 10/10/2023 21:19

@McOrange it's not the exact style I've got. But if you search allure bridal 9908 that's a better pic

Mines a bridal size 16 but will be altered a lot x

ShoesoftheWorld · 10/10/2023 21:22

2 basically has no back. That puts me off massively (along with the flappy-halfway-down-the-arms sleeves, but you said you liked them). And tbh, even if uncovered shoulders are OK in church now, no back feels a bridge too far.

FrodoBagginsToeHair · 10/10/2023 21:26

Option 2 for definite! I wore one similar on my wedding at age 36 - you’re absolutely not too old

Shufflebumnessie · 10/10/2023 21:33

Personally, number 2 is far more special however if neither feel quite right then perhaps you haven't found your perfect dress yet.

Chickenpie35 · 10/10/2023 21:35

Number 2.
I Got my wedding dress off jjs house during covid and shops being mostly closed and booked forever. I had a try on of it at home and in a bridal shop with my bridesmaids and mum. The quality is amazing. I wasn't expecting to keep it but it was gorgeous and I swear you couldn't tell the difference between it and some of the £1k + dresses. Obviously cheaper material but only if you touched others or looked very closely.
