Since we have the thread going ‘son ate my chocs’ I wanted to know what you would call posh chocolates and would you be willing to share them with loved ones if they weren’t gifted to you!

Personally, patchi are my favorite posh chocolates.

Le Chocolat Alain Ducasse in Coal Drops Yard is amazing. After a visit I feel like I've been bathed in chocolate, Augustus Gloop-style.

Used to really like Paul A. Young but only online now Sad. If you're going online then Chococo is lovely with some great flavours.

Don't know about posh but my favourite are gianduiotto (sp?) Either Marks or Waitrose, or the ones Nero sell singly in the gold wrapper

ShutTheDoorBabe · 09/10/2023 14:12

Hotel Chocolat or those Leonidas ones. I don't always share them and if I do, I expect it to be my choice to do so, not for someone to come and pinch them.

Leonidas
Rococo
the highland chocolatier (really beautiful chocolates)

Any brand that most people have not heard of so the poster can parade their exclusiveness.
Definitely NOT Hotel Chocolat because EVERYONE thinks they are a notch above, so are not special enough.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/10/2023 14:15

Also i don't know if it counts as 'posh' because they're bloody everywhere in Belgium, but Neuhaus is good. I brought a box back for us all to share once and my kids inhaled the pralines before I even got one so be warned.

Plexie · 09/10/2023 14:16

half of the enjoyment of having nice chocolates is enjoying them with the family

Said no chocoholic, ever.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/10/2023 14:23

Btw that's just the ones we've tried from more exclusive (I guess?) brands. However I've never met a mint thin I didn't love! I particularly like the Tesco own brand ones, DH has to hide them from me because I genuinely can't stop eating them Blush.

Definitely not posh chocs, but I will fight you for them.

I favour a little shop called Recherché, in Genovia. They don’t do online sales unfortunately so you won’t find it on Google or anything.

Chococo are the only ones I have found which I think are really worth the money. Things like C&W and hotel chocolate are a bit horrible in my opinion.

DerekPakora · 09/10/2023 14:57

Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier in Grandtully 🤤

notificationoverload · 09/10/2023 15:01

I don't know if they're posh but my favourite chocolate is Charbonnel et Walker Milk Sea Salt Caramel Thins. I'm normally a chocolate scoffer but even I savour these!

Duckskitbank · 09/10/2023 15:02

Rococo.

7Worfs · 09/10/2023 15:03

I’d call good chocolate anything without shit ingredients like palm oil, emulsifiers, preservatives, lecithin etc.

FoleyHuck · 09/10/2023 15:03

Cazzovuoi · 09/10/2023 13:48

Cailler (Swiss) - anything they make I will eat except the one with raisins in it. YUCK!

Also love Venchi (Italian) and Laderach (also Swiss).

Oh I'd completely forgotten about Callier, I've been to their factory and came home laden with bars. Delicious.

PimpMyFridge · 09/10/2023 15:08

Godiva was posh once, but no more, it's the same Palm oil filled ick of many daily buy chocolate (which I still get), I like booja booja but don't buy seriously seriously expensive chocolate. Montezuma is the best everyday chocolate.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 09/10/2023 15:15

Charbonnel et Walker.

BrightLightTonight · 09/10/2023 15:15

I hate boxes of chocolates and I would give them away (or throw them away)

TotalOverhaul · 09/10/2023 15:25

The Highland Chocolatier. They cost about £2 per chocolate so we only ever have them at Christmas and adult DC take the piss out of us for being so extravagant but they are out of this world.

I didn’t even realise these weren’t posh until my friend bought some for herself on a weekend and I asked whose birthday it was lol.

I don’t think you can beat them though.

Can we be friends!?? ❤

JamMakingWannaBe · 09/10/2023 15:58

I think mint matchmakers are posh!

ShanghaiDiva · 09/10/2023 12:16

Mary Belgian chocolates

Yep-these are the chocolates that actual Belgians consider posh chocolates.

Orange, surely?

BodegaSushi · 09/10/2023 16:04

I'd call them 'shitty presents'

Wow, .I've learned so much from this thread. I'm a total chocolate peasant. Going to choose and order a couple of these recommendations and test them out!
