Does else’s dog get a Sunday roast?

Our DDogs are thrilled Autumn has come because that means dinner comes a bit late on Sundays. But when it does come, it’s the best dinner of all!
Today their bowls were full of roast venison, carrots, mash, broccoli and gravy. Then a bit of crumble and custard for pudding.
They are now sharing the sofa watching the Strictly dance off and snoring away.
Just to reassure anyone with dogs with sensitive dietary needs, I have two Labradors, there is no food stuff, or indeed non food stuff, they won’t happily guzzle down and digest. And they both work as gundogs, so make me envious with how easily they stay slim.

Any one else have happy dogs full of Sunday dinner this evening?

We have Saturday roasts and three sighthounds that have to be locked outside to stop them counter surfing for scraps. The countertops are just within long snout reach.

But yes they always get a few bits of meat and a little bit of gravy, their sensitive tums can't handle more than that, though the greyhound would eat the entire thing in a minute flat if allowed to. Never known such a pig in my life.

Weird, why do you even have a dog when you talk about “it” with so much disdain? You know dogs are literally designed to eat meat not dog biscuits right?

Crumbs, why have a dog when harbouring such hate towards it?

My DD's dog had a little bit of lasagna and a strawberry today. He's a recent rescue-and is so delighted and grateful when he gets a treat. It's as if he can't believe how wonderful his new life is!

That’s wonderful! I hope he has many years of lasagne and strawberries with you 🙂

My dogs managed to get the roast yesterday, before it was cooked unfortunately. We had pizzas for dinner.

New dishwasher opens automatically at the end of a cycle provides a step up to the kitchen counter😩

I don’t want to be the voice of negativity but a family members dog died suddenly and unexpectedly last year, she took it to the vets as soon as he fell ill and he was suffering from pancreatitis, they treated him but it wasn’t enough to save him. She used to feed him a roast dinner every week, and the vet said that is what caused it and it’s more common than people think, apparently the beef and the gravy, roast potatoes & Yorkshire’s are some of the worst things to give dogs, their digestive systems aren’t designed to handle the fat and salt content properly, she’d been doing it every week for years and hadn’t had an issue until he suddenly died, he was only 6 and perfectly healthy other wise.

we’ve got three dogs and have been known to give them dinners before, I don’t do it anymore!

Only meat and pigs in blankets. She won’t touch potatoes and is an expert at separating and spitting g out any veggies . The cat on the other hand will beg for Yorkshire puddings .
