Any recommendations? Have seen Cabaret and Operation Mincemeat. Wondering about The Ocean at the End of the Lane (or is that for kids?) or the Enfield Haunting.

Semmelweis
Dear England
Standing At The Sky’s Edge (coming back to the W End in the new year)
Crazy For You (even if you don’t usually like musicals)

Hugely enjoyed Phantom recently.

DaisyDando · 08/10/2023 19:07

I recently enjoyed Dear England and Hamilton.

Second Crazy for You and Guys and Dolls - both excellent. I liked The Father and the Assassin at the National.

The Play That Goes Wrong

Seen that - twice! I see they're reviving Peter Pan Goes Wrong soon.

I saw Rebecca last night - that was very good!

Scramblelina · 08/10/2023 19:29

Both Dear England and The Father and the Assassin are among the two best plays I’ve seen in years. You can’t really go wrong with anything at the National.

"Crazy for You" has Charlie Stemp as the main character and he's been brilliant in everything I've seen him in.
We saw Iolanthe last night and it was very good.
Matilda and Les Mis are always good.

I went to Sunset Boulevard last week and it was bloody terrific. Totally different to previous versions.

Ocean at the end of the lane was beautifully staged when I saw it - it’s moved theatres I think since the , but was very well done.

Peter Pan goes Wrong is currently on tour and is then in London at the Lyric from mid November to early January with more of the original cast than the touring production.

I want to take my sister to the theatre as a treat and she suggested this. But I get the impression it might be for children?

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 08/10/2023 21:07

Sorry, that was meant to be a reply to Scramblelina!

Oneeva · 08/10/2023 21:08

It's not for kids. The book it's based on is written from a child's perspective but is aimed at adults. The age guidance for the play is over 12s, teens might enjoy it but it's not specifically aimed at them. I've read the book but not seen the show, it is meant to be fabulous.

Adviceplease2314 · 08/10/2023 21:11

To Kill A Mockingbird if it’s still on - brilliant!

padsi1975 · 08/10/2023 21:12

The Motive and the Cue is the best thing I have seen, maybe ever. Hamilton is excellent. I always enjoy Phantom.

I would happily see it again.

Guys and Dolls at the Bridge Theatre - get the interactive standing tickets. Has to be the best thing I've seen in the theatre for a long time - dh and I got to be part of the show in the second act. Never been to a show where you're dancing on the stage with the cast at the end of it. It was absolutely brilliant!!

Sunshineandrainbow · 08/10/2023 21:29

@Oneeva might book witness for prosecution for my Dd. Where did you sit, the prices are quite varied. Thanks

Seen it and I agree - marvellous!
