Good Morning Mumsnet! What are you all up to today?

I've just made my first cuppa of the day & am most definitely sitting in my kitchen spot to drink it today, after being up & out early yesterday! The window's flung open & I can hear the birds in the trees but not see them.

There's quite a bit to be done today - chances are it won't all get done as I'm quite tired after yesterday & considering going back to bed!

There are pots to wash, shirts to iron, Tesco to order, dd2 needs help with her Maths homework, and she wants to nip into town to see if Primark have something in that she could wear to the Eras Tour film next weekend. If we don't get to town today, we'll nip in before Saturday.

I'd like to spend some time either painting my next set of peg dolls, or crocheting, but don't think I will today!

Dd1 has homework to be done for college - she was getting on with Philosophy last night so she'll probably finish that first.

I've got a pork joint in the slow cooker for tea. Not sure what we'll have with it but the girls will be helping to prep whatever we do have! I fancied a proper cauli cheese but cba to make it right now so we'll see later on.

Early showers and early nights all round tonight, ready for the coming week!

What about all of you? 🙂

Not much today but I have to say I find your posts so comforting.

itsgettingweird · 08/10/2023 09:34

Ds has a swim meet.

Yesterday we had pulled pork done in slow cooker and there's a batch now in freezer for next weekend.

I also batch cooked pasta bake and there's enough for 2 weeks lunches for me.

Ds also had his flu jab so we planned a quiet day at home and did washing and housework too.

Today we will go out at midday and be home about 6. Showers, dinner and bed ready for 4am alarm to go back swim training!

CrapBucket · 08/10/2023 09:37

Ahhh so much love for this post.

I am having a coffee listening to birds singing outside and planning my day

Church if I can hurry up and get ready
Expecting someone to collect an item I’m selling on Facebook (always a gamble if they will actually show)
Late lunch
Dog walk
Laundry for the busy week ahead
Yoga
Strictly results show

When I was in a terrible marriage I would long for calm comfortable days like this. Feel so lucky this is my life now.

Happy Sunday mumsnet xx

Funkyslippers · 08/10/2023 09:44

Just eating porridge & catching up MAFS. Did a bit of yoga earlier then going to pilates. This afternoon may walk friend's dog if dd2 is free. Otherwise I'll sit in the garden between doing a few chores. I also start a new job on Tues so need to get up to speed with the admin I need to do

lucysmam · 08/10/2023 09:57

@Funkyslippers good luck with your new job!

@CrapBucket that sounds like a nice, steady, day. I do like a slow day sometimes 😊

@itsgettingweird is a swim meet like a competition? (I know nothing about swimming other than I'm not very good at it!)

Currently in the car with DH and DD on our way to the zoo. DD is not on best form so it could be an interesting day 🙃 she's been in our bed the past two nights, so I haven't slept well and am absolutely crazing a lazy Sunday with a beef roast and a glass of red! Instead I will have to make do with an overpriced sandwich and bad coffee!

Hedjwitch · 08/10/2023 09:59

In bed listening to the endless bloody rain...which was pretty much all I did yesterday.
Will finish reading " The Running Grave".
Erm....thats about it

Mrsjayy · 08/10/2023 10:02

Morning it's so wet here that I had to put my jacket over my pj's to drag the dog out to pee first thing ! So it's a day for the house nothing more exciting than a roast dinner being cooked later on.

HerRoyalStressHead · 08/10/2023 10:07

I'll be helping DD and DS2 with their homework, my mum and DS1 are decorating the stairs (putting wallpaper on the front of them and placing carpet treads)
I'll be making pizza for tea as I can't be arsed doing a roast, I'm too sore as my back has seized up.
Showers and early to bed to read a bit I think later.

CurlewKate · 08/10/2023 10:07

Cooking to cater for 15 tomorrow. Enjoying it very much!

frozendaisy · 08/10/2023 10:11

Just unblocked (I think) a slow draining toilet before the end of the first coffee!

Think that's plenty for today.

Actually no like some I have much to do

But it's dry, can do some school clothes washing, homework, roast, planning on getting going around 11am. Rest of the crew are going shopping.

PurpleSky09 · 08/10/2023 10:15

Morning all. Got up early and went for a long walk with the dog. Just about to put a beef stew into the slowcooker for tea later. Rest of day will be spent doing chores as quickly as possible and then I intend to finish reading my book and watch a film. I don't like to do too much on Sundays!

ssd · 08/10/2023 10:16

Hi @lucysmam and everyone else here.

I'm back in bed, had my usual tea and toast and the weather looks wet and awful so climbed back in with another cuppa. Dh making it which is nice. Just general tidying and laundry today, worked yesterday and working tomorrow so a day in the hoose needed today.

Enjoy the good west the lucky posters who have it!

beakyboo10 · 08/10/2023 10:17

Cleaning cat poo and wee, our 16 year old cat has decided this morning that bedrooms are the ideal place to go to the toilet despite the back door being open.

Later we are heading into town to try a new coffee shop that has opened this week which my husband is very excited about. Also we are try to get our youngest son to try and ride his bike with pedals as he prefers his balance bike.

boatyardblues · 08/10/2023 10:18

Nursing a hangover after having the most fun at a party last night. I’m on my second breakfast of jam sandwich biscuits and coffee.

Later on I have to write a presentation for a job interview later in the week, do my ironing, go for a swim and cook dinner.

It’s a lovely bright day here. 🙂

Caledoniablue · 08/10/2023 10:35

Morning @lucyslucysmam and mumsnet!

I love reading these posts.
Me and ds are having a late breakfast of toast and jam, then will go out to play in the garden for a while.
DH is sleeping after working until 6am, so I'll wake him around 1pm then I'm off to work!

Ds saw some kids on those 3 wheel type scooters at the park yesterday, so I think him and dh will go to the retail park nearby to try some out for size this afternoon.

Bolognaise for dinner later, dh will go to work until 4am, then tomorrow dh and I have our first day off together in over 6 months, so we will keep ds off nursery and head for a family day out at the Zoo which I think I'm more excited for than anyone else Grin

piscofrisco · 08/10/2023 10:37

Morning all.
I painted a bit of the bathroom yesterday so once up properly I will do the rest.
Dd2 needs a lift to work, DSS2 is on the play station, dss1 at football with Dh.

Big roast later for tea as all four kids will be here at once for a change. Usually like shops in the night!

vodkaredbullgirl · 08/10/2023 10:41

Morning

So far I've put the tonight's tea in the slow cooker, done some washing. Waiting for my eldest to get ready and we are off to the Independent market.

Berninaa · 08/10/2023 10:44

Morning all, love these threads too!

Busy days on here.

Mine’s fairly mundane with tons of washing and ironing, yoga class mid afternoon and picking up teen DC from work.

I quite like an at home Sunday though even if does involve lots of ironing.

Dinner will be a soup with leftover chicken, veg and Pearl barley. I might make a focaccia if I get round to it.

🍁🍂 I love autumn.

AlisonDonut · 08/10/2023 10:44

OH is back to the UK tomorrow for a week so whilst he washes his clothes and preps his stuff, I'm taking out all the remaining tomatillos from the veg plot in anticipation of working on the new area whilst he is away.

Will be cooking a veggie roast in a while so need to go and harvest some veggies for that.

Then eat, siesta, have a coffee, then move some soil and do some raking. Then watch the latest Billions episode this evening.

soupmaker · 08/10/2023 10:45

I've been for my flu jag, now heading to get DD2 from cub camp. DD1 needs new sports shoes so a trip out for them later. Steak pie and apple crumble for dinner later.

itsgettingweird · 08/10/2023 10:49

lucysmam · 08/10/2023 09:57

@Funkyslippers good luck with your new job!

@itsgettingweird is a swim meet like a competition? (I know nothing about swimming other than I'm not very good at it!)

Yes it's a swim competition. This one is a qualifier for winter nationals.

Ds is a para swimmer and should hit the required standard but just has to do it within the qualifying window!

BrutusMcDogface · 08/10/2023 10:52

@AlisonDonut where do you live?

morning! Just the normal Sunday shizzle today though I don’t feel as fed up as usual as I broke the back of the laundry on Friday, woop! Go me!

🙄😂

Beaverbridge · 08/10/2023 10:58

Poured non stop here, roads flooded so stat at home day. Usually get bus to nearest big town. So far stripped bed, currently in machine. Cleaned bedroom. Washed inside windows in living room. Pulling out clothes rail in big bedroom so chest of drawers can be accessed. Try to go sort out clothes currently piled on bed. Need to stop buying in charity shops!. Need to walk to local shop to buy something for dinner.

MinnieMountain · 08/10/2023 10:59

DS and I are just back from his hockey practice. He left his water bottle there, so we need to get another later today when we go out to a model railway attraction.

I've got washing to take down. I want to plant my peony rhizome (or whatever they are that’s not a bulb). And I’m going to read more of my new Mary Beard book.

Supper is pork chops, spuds and sprouts.

DH is away surfing.
