Good Morning Mumsnet! What are you all up to today?

I've just made my first cuppa of the day & am most definitely sitting in my kitchen spot to drink it today, after being up & out early yesterday! The window's flung open & I can hear the birds in the trees but not see them.

There's quite a bit to be done today - chances are it won't all get done as I'm quite tired after yesterday & considering going back to bed!

There are pots to wash, shirts to iron, Tesco to order, dd2 needs help with her Maths homework, and she wants to nip into town to see if Primark have something in that she could wear to the Eras Tour film next weekend. If we don't get to town today, we'll nip in before Saturday.

I'd like to spend some time either painting my next set of peg dolls, or crocheting, but don't think I will today!

Dd1 has homework to be done for college - she was getting on with Philosophy last night so she'll probably finish that first.

I've got a pork joint in the slow cooker for tea. Not sure what we'll have with it but the girls will be helping to prep whatever we do have! I fancied a proper cauli cheese but cba to make it right now so we'll see later on.

Early showers and early nights all round tonight, ready for the coming week!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have had two coffees and a bit of toast. Put the dishwasher on, put a steak casserole in the slow cooker for dinner later and I'm now having a cuppa and a bun. Going out is problematic because we had flooding locally yesterday and the rain is still on. My local garden centre has a photo of a car submerged up to its roof. My village was marooned for a while yesterday. So an enforced house day for me. I might make an apple pie in a while and do a bit ironing. Enjoy your day

thefinaltwist · 08/10/2023 11:04

Morning everyone. I'm having a very rare lazy day. I usually say this every Friday and end up busy or finding something to do or somewhere to go but my husband is working away this weekend so just me and ds 12.

The weather has been awful since yesterday morning its not stopped raining 🌧 When I was out for the food shop yesterday the water was bubbling up the drains and running down the street! So today I'm having a proper lazy day! Slept till 10am which is unheard of for me a usual lie in is usually 8am ish. Just had crumpets with real butter and coffee for brunch. Now considering heading back to bed to read. I'm going to have a salt bath later with a face mask and its roast chicken for tea with, mash yorkshire puddings and carrots.

This is the start of the October holidays for ds so he is relishing having a lazy weekend of watching films, playing his xbox and reading. I'm at work next week so he will be up the same time as me to go to his grans. We are all off the following week but will need to crack on with decorating ds room. Cause we both work full time its been getting done in drips and drabs over the weekends or after work and it now feels like its dragging on a bit

Morning, I really like these threads too.

DH is working until lunchtime and I told him I’d do housework so it’s lovely and tidy for him to come home to (I’m not from the 1950s or anything, I’ve just been a bit ill recently and he’s been doing my share too). Instead, I’m laying on the sofa, eating mini muffins, watching murder documentaries and scrolling on here.

I shall get moving in a minute, tidy, hoover and get some toys out ready for our toddler nephew who we have this afternoon. He is absolutely beautiful and I could eat him on toast, so I can’t wait to see him. And I’ve got him a load of new bath toys, so he’s having a disco bubble bath later, which will make him so happy.

Giggorata · 08/10/2023 11:09

Morning lucysmam and all.

Just slobbing about until we meet friends for lunch at a pub.

DH is threatening to mow the meadow (cut the grass on our field/allotment) this afternoon, if the weather holds.

I should be tidying and things this afternoon, but I suspect I might end up dozing on the sofa after the big lunch, but I will do a long dog walk later.

If we ever eat again, it will be minted lamb kebabs for dinner.

NonMiDispiace · 08/10/2023 11:21

Good morning @lucysmam and MNers, a warm, sunny autumn morning here and we’re back from a longish dog walk across the fields and through woodland, the trees were festooned with sparkling cobwebs, beautiful 😍
It was really lovely watching deer and squirrels, very peaceful.
DH is picking up a takeaway Sunday dinner so no cooking for me! I will do some more tidying in the garden and probably some crafting later.
Enjoy the day everyone 😊

Cowlover89 · 08/10/2023 11:21

Lazy day!

Decafflatteplease · 08/10/2023 11:55

It's still just about morning so squeezing in here! How did you get on yesterday @lucysmam?

Slow morning here, DC doing homework, Ive had a lovely soak in the bath. 3rd load of washing about to go on the line, making the most of the nice weather although it feels a bit unsettling being warm in October 🤔

Not sure of this afternoon plans, think the teens are off to the gym. We might take the little ones to the park or might just play in the garden, I have some autumn bedding I'd like to get planted but can always do that in the week.

Toad in the hole and cauliflower cheese for dinner. Macaroni cheese for veggie DC. Banana bread for pud and will also do for DC after school snacks in the week. If you are looking for an easy cauliflower cheese @lucysmam we've recently started getting the m and s frozen one it's less than £2 and really good. Aldi do an equally good one. You bake from frozen in the oven although I defrost it first so it's quicker and add a bit of extra cheese.

Self care Sunday night of course, already had my bath so I'll probably have an early night an keep on with my book it's from the library and I don't think I'll be able to renew as lots of people on the waiting list so really need to get it finished in the next few weeks!

lucysmam · 08/10/2023 12:01

Thanks for the cauliflower cheese tip @Decafflatteplease , we'll nip in Sainsbury's and see if they have any!

I think Hull was a no, from what dd said when we get in. She's been checking for open days at others she's interested in too, so we'll put those on the calendar. Plenty of time to look around as many as she/we can for the moment!

Just posting because I want to tell someone how brave I was Blush probably sounds pathetic but basically due to my weight I've been referred for a free gym membership to the local leisure centre by my dr, I am absolutely petrified of going to the gym especially alone, I never thought I'd be considering it but attended the appointment and I met up with the personal trainer to talk about the health program and he showed me around the gym, pool etc.

I have emailed today to confirm that yes I would like to sign up 🙈 even though I'm terrified of going but i know it's a good opportunity and I should do this for my health. Just wanted to tell someone because it's a big deal for me Blush hope I don't chicken out

Chipsahoy · 08/10/2023 13:06

@Star0Fire that is amazing. Well done you! I would come with you if I lived closed by.

North east Scotland here so we are in Noah’s ark territory here today.
Dc all in their rooms playing. Dh is sanding our newly build utility and bathroom. I’m having a restful lazy day after some heavy therapy stuff this week. One more week then half term!
Roast dinner later, crochet this afternoon and maybe a film evening with my boys.

RightOnTheEdge · 08/10/2023 13:08

Hi Lucysmam

I've been at my ds's football match this morning, he was captain and they all tried really hard but sadly they lost.
Ds has gone straight to his room and dd has still not emerged from her bed! So I'm having a crisp sandwich now in peace and quiet.

I need to get up straight after though and get on with housework and getting ready for work and school tomorrow. I'm determined not to procrastinate all day like I did yesterday, so that I can sit down and relax later with a book and watch Only Murders In the Building.

Well done @Star0Fire! I'm proud of you for being brave! I hope you enjoy your new gym class. Good luck 👍

grayhairdontcare · 08/10/2023 13:22

Ive pottered in the garden and the roast is ready for the oven.
Made lunch for tomorrow and got some chicken marinating for tomorrow evening.
Going to go and have a soak in the bath and get my things ready for the morning and then just relax and watch movies and read for the rest of the day

Star0Fire · 08/10/2023 13:34

Thanks both Blush
@Chipsahoy your day sounds lovely and relaxed

afaloren · 08/10/2023 13:40

Had a bit of a lie in after a late night yesterday. Took the dog to the park then dropped him back home before heading to Tesco for a few things.

Now lazing about on Mumsnet while DH tries to fix the lawnmower. Roast chicken later with roast potatoes, broccoli, sugar snap peas and chicken gravy. Rhubarb crumble for afters.

AlisonDonut · 08/10/2023 13:49

BrutusMcDogface · 08/10/2023 10:52

@AlisonDonut where do you live?

morning! Just the normal Sunday shizzle today though I don’t feel as fed up as usual as I broke the back of the laundry on Friday, woop! Go me!

🙄😂

In the middle of Rural France.

lucysmam · 08/10/2023 13:58

Well done @Star0Fire ! I'd be bricking it too but you've been once now to look around - walking in the second time will be nowhere near as scary & you can come back & brag about it again!!

Afternoon all, love reading these threads!

@Star0Fire well done for signing up, you've got to come back and update us when you've been for your first session - we're all rooting for you!

I've had 3 hours at the football club selling the teas and coffees this morning, then went to pick DS2 up from a football party. Had a very beige lunch of sausage rolls, crisps and a cereal bar. Am off to see my parents this afternoon for a cup of tea. Then home to get dinner sorted (I think it will be chilli con carne), then sort out baths, reading and bed for DC, and DH and I will watch some Ted Lasso later on. I need to paint my nails as well.

At the moment I'm going to bed too late and struggling to get up in the mornings, then everything's a rush. I'm aiming to be in bed by 10.30pm this week, and up by 06.30am, so fingers crossed I can stick to it!

lucysmam · 08/10/2023 15:34

We're in from town. No success finding a top for dd to wear next weekend so she is going to wear the one she originally picked for the concert & maybe have a new one for the actual concert 🤔 She did find pretty pink Converse dupes in Primark for £4 though so is happy! And she has another new book to lose herself in later on.

Best put the oven on for tea really!

We're having a lovely day.
We met dd1&2 in town for an exhibition they had bought tickets to for my birthday and had a burger lunch together after then a mooch around a town.
It was lovely being just the 5 of us and spending time together.
Home now and dh catching up on the rugby highlights,dd 3 is chilling after a bath and getting ready for school tomorrow.
I'm under a throw and the cat in the garden with a drink and Mumsnet.

Claysta · 08/10/2023 18:11

I love these threads so much ! I’ve taken DD to Matalan earlier as she wanted a new throw and secretly I wanted to look at the Christmas stuff ! DS and DH went to a car show this afternoon. Managed 2 loads of washing on the line and am thinking about ironing … DH just poured me a gin ! Roast is nearly ready.

Star0Fire · 08/10/2023 18:45

Thank you I will come back and update if I do make it to a session! I think I will, I really want to , this positivity is helping too so thank you 😌

barneythedino · 08/10/2023 19:38

Evening all - I volunteered this morning at a local 10k run to hand out medals and sweets to the runners with my Guides. Then my parents offered to have the children so me and DH went into town for a date afternoon which we haven't done since we got married earlier this year.

frozendaisy · 27/01/2024 15:28

Good afternoon,
Been out for best part of 5 hours tramping around the streets, helping kids with their mini jobs.
Everyone agreed to heat in the oven Indian for dinner.

So having an hour with trashy TV before a small push of housework and laundry.

Day of two halves.

Mumaway · 27/01/2024 15:33

I selflessly drove my DDs to climbing club this morning with a hugely anticipated hour in the cafe to look forward to. I was so disappointed that the chef was off, so my middle class avocado toast breakfast was a no go,.so I had to make do with 2 cappuccinos and a tiffin.
Then broke all the rules with a drive thru KFC for their lunch, quick stop at the supermarket before home for laundry, homework and a trial of making our own butter!

Crunchymum · 27/01/2024 15:56
