What’s for dinner?

So bored of this! Dh usually takes care of all cooking and most of the dinner shopping but he’s incapacitated at the moment and it’s on me. And I hate cooking so much 😂
Inspire me, what’s gracing your dinner table tonight?

Well, it was going to be sausage, egg and chips. But DD2 has had a ver' bad day today, so it's Five Guys.

TheChosenTwo · 04/10/2023 18:32

I wish we could get good deliveries here! Some alright options to be fair but nothing I fancy tonight.
I’ve decided on chicken, chorizo, rocket and lemon sort of pasta. No recipe so just flung a load of stuff from the cupboard on the chicken and we’ll hope for the best 😂😂

A quick roast as I picked up some cheap rotisserie style chicken portions, alongside roast potatoes and steamed carrots and cabbage and gravy.

babbaganoush · 04/10/2023 18:36

Macaroni cheese, crispy bacon, salad and garlic bread Smile

randomrandom · 04/10/2023 18:38

BBQ Pork belly, homemade chips and apple coleslaw

randomrandom · 04/10/2023 18:38

I'm a big fan of Gousto 😬

UnkindamI · 04/10/2023 18:42

Chorizo, chickpea and spinach stew with basmati rice.

cathyj77 · 04/10/2023 18:43

Pasta with homemade pesto

TheChosenTwo · 04/10/2023 18:50

@Trumpton that looks so tasty. Although I think dh and ds would collapse at the thought of a dinner without meat. Dd2 and I would love that though; going to keep that one in mind for tomorrow. Boys can have something else!

I'm doing tandoori chicken, salad, cumin roasted cauli and flat breads.

BiddyPop · 04/10/2023 19:03

DH and I were going to have mussels in tomato sauce with pasta - but we've agreed I'm stopping at local chopper en route home as we both feel rough. Chicken and chips it is! (Maybe with a portion of onion rings added).

kingofchaos · 04/10/2023 19:06

I think we're having this

What’s for dinner?

Savoury mince and potatoes done in the slow cooker.

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 04/10/2023 19:12

Sourdough with smashed avocado
roasted chickpeas, red onion and red pepper then topped with halloumi.

Quite a 'lunchy' dinner.

CaveMum · 04/10/2023 19:17

Slow cooker Persian chicken.

Don’t get home from DD’s martial arts class till 8pm and don’t want to then have to cook for DH and I so it all got thrown in the slow cooker at 8am this morning! DD ate before her class.

TheChosenTwo · 04/10/2023 21:25

@teenysaladandsniffofarose id rather eat a lighter or more lunchy dinner personally but we all eat together and have a ‘proper dinner’ (not that what you’ve had isn’t proper, I hope you know what I mean!).
Anyway despite not being much of a cook it was absolutely bloody delicious, clean plates all round and was really quick (speed is my main criteria for cooking, dh usually spends 3 hours a night just faffing about dicing, sautéing, marinading, griddling, whatever - I like it bashed on the table in ideally less than about 40 minutes). Thank christ I’m going out for dinner tomorrow night with some friends, the others can get a takeaway or something!

Chicken and mushroom and camembert pie. Wasn't planning on doing anything but noticed the chicken breasts in the freezer were looking a bit...burnt and needed to be eaten or chucked!

Rroasted harissa Mediterranean veg on a bed of giant cous cous with feta and beetroot coulis rocket.

Nah, only joking. It's chicken burgers and oven chips Blush

The harissa veg and cous cous probably take less effort than burger and chips, to be fair!

Tonight we had 3 cheese, sundried tomato and basil calzone made with a pizza bread mix, with soup: leek and potato for DD+DH, broccoli and celery for DS and me.

Lest night we did have harissa roast veg, but I put some beef burgers on the top of the veg 15 minutes before the end of cooking, and then cheese just before serving, Chopped it, drizzled oil and harissa, added burgers and cheese later. No couscous (potato wedges in the veg).

It was going to be some kind of stir fry,but will now be an Indian takeaway after reading another thread and getting uncontrollable urges for a lamb pasanda with pilau rice, raita and poppadoms

Timmydimmy · 06/10/2023 20:39

Posh burger night here with thick homemade burgers, brioche baps, salad, chunky chips and coleslaw.

coxesorangepippin · 06/10/2023 20:39

Chilli

Made this afternoon

Probably served with rice and shredded cheese

Might do an apple crumble 🤔🤠

Timmydimmy · 06/10/2023 20:42

It's really autumnal and dark, wet, cold here today so the slow cooker is being dusted off ready to make some soup or a stew tomorrow.I'm quite sadly excited about it.😂

Crepesandconans · 06/10/2023 20:45

I love my slow cooker and one of my favourite things is the smell as I come through my front door after it has been on all day when I've been at work, must get it out more often.
