How relaxing is your Sunday?

Mine isn't at all. Sad
Nothing major, thankfully but I just can't seem to get all the housework and laundry sorted to have one of those lovely chilled Sundays I keep aiming for.
So much mess all around me and I'd love to have one of those homes that's pretty tidy (I'm not looking for perfection) where I have time to go for a walk, put dinner on and read a book. Sigh.

I'm the same in my head I'm going to get everything sorted. In reality I'm sat here on my phone I get on my own nerves.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 01/10/2023 14:18

I'm sat watching Christmas film, knitting a Christmas blanket, drinking hot chocolate.

JMAngel1 · 01/10/2023 14:20

i have emptied and to loaded the dishwasher 3 times already today and still have to cook a roast! Everyone at home means too much cooking and mess. Somehow there has been breakfast, brunch and lunch!!
I still have 3 loads of washing to fold and put away, sort out uniforms, cook roast, go through work emails before I can properly rest. Now I’ve just taken all the recycling out and something has leaked so have to add mop out floors to the list. It’s never ending.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/10/2023 14:23

4 year old birthday party at soft play followed by ages queuing in Asda just for a few bits followed by a child in Asda dropping a bottle of coke which exploded over most of the customers. My new coat covered in coke…

Finally just got home and exhausted. Still got all house work and washing to do. I gave however picked up a pack of custard slices so yum.

Docke · 01/10/2023 14:24

Had a lie-in. In the village pub now- just finished a lovely roast for lunch and sharing cheesecake with my husband. And a bottle of wine.

Going to roll down the hill home shortly. Cleaner was here yesterday so house is tidy.

Thinking shag and then an afternoon snooze.

Then possibly more wine.

Ceraunophile · 01/10/2023 14:25

I’ve made it out for a walk and the house isn’t too bad but I’ve spent most of my allocated ‘relaxation’ time draining a broken washing machine and worrying about/trying to feed my ill cat. I had hope of playing board games with the dc and reading my book but can’t settle to anything because I’m too anxious about her 😞

SnowflakeCity · 01/10/2023 14:28

I've been for a long walk with the dogs. The teens are out somewhere with friends and dh is in his office so I'm just on the couch with the dogs. I can't find anything I want to watch though and it's one of those days where my brain is going a mile a minute so I don't feel very relaxed and can't figure out what I want to do with myself. So there is no reason it can't be a relaxed Sunday I'm just tense and not relaxed for god only knows what reason.

cassiatwenty · 01/10/2023 14:29

Mine isn't at all either Confused

I'm sat watching Christmas film, knitting a Christmas blanket, drinking hot chocolate.

Sooooo jealous 😂

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 01/10/2023 14:35

I have a whole day with no football matches to take the DCs to so I have redecorated and cleaned the living room, and done another wall in the kitchen diner and moved two sofas.

now sat on the bed with the dog and a brew considering a long hot bath. So pleased to have got it done and it looks lovely. Have also lit the fire. I’m off duty now, DCs are doing their homework and when DH gets in he is going to cook a roast dinner. After the bath I’ll get in my PJs and read a book in the lovely fresh living room 🥰

GigiAnnna · 01/10/2023 14:35

Normal chaotic morning for me with kids and dogs. The kids have gone to their grandparents for a few hours, I ran to the shop for some packed lunch stuff for the week, came home and tidied up, then had an hour in bed reading a book and 2 orgasms with my wand. Kids will be back soon and I've got uniforms to iron and stuff to prepare for the week ahead, but I loved my me time.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 01/10/2023 14:37

@JMAngel1
I'm on my second square!

Got quite a few to do.

My Sunday morning involved me having 2 other kids over to play with mine, while they were occupied I've done the housework and the dreaded school uniform ironing.
Need to pop to Superdrug for some hairdye and I've chucked a roast in the slow cooker. I'll chill after 4.. I hope! 🤣

lionhead1 · 01/10/2023 16:01

Mines been a mix of catching up with housework, ironing and kids homework and trying to have a sleep before my night shift tonight 😩.

rosao · 01/10/2023 16:10

I always make sure the majority of my housework is done on a Friday. Saturdays are usually busy with days out of kids parties etc.

I protect my lazy Sundays. Today the most I've done is ironing uniforms but this doesn't take long and I listen to a podcast whilst doing it.

We've been out for a rainy walk, we have a brisket in the slow cooker so dinner is minimal effort. The kids are always bathed and in pj's early on a Sunday so we can watch a film or play a game together.

I also like a Sunday wine 🍷.

TheHighQueenOfTheFarRealm · 01/10/2023 16:10

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche that looks beautiful! What a wonderful skill.

I have progressed a bit but still plenty to do. I swear I'm going to get better organised for next weekend because I hate the stress.

I tend to relax more on a Saturday, as I’m so knackered from work. So yesterday I had a mini lie-in (8.30am - I’m up by 6am during the week). Went for a walk and a coffee. Came home and had an afternoon nap. Then got takeaway for me, DH and teens and watched a film. Sometimes I socialise on a Saturday night, but not every week.

I often do chores on Sunday, but in a laidback way. So I got up at 9.30am this morning. Got petrol for my car, did a food shop, cleaned the kitchen, but listening to music and with coffee breaks in between. DH cleaned the bathroom. I got teens to do the laundry and hoovering.

I’m going to make dinner in a bit, have a bath and watch another film (DH is out).

My weeks are busy - full time work and I go to yoga/the gym/a social group after work, so I try to ensure weekends are fairly chilled.

Costalife · 01/10/2023 16:23

It isn't haha.
I look after my 7 and 2 year old alone as partner works Saturday and Sunday night so needs to sleep during the day
Constant demands and moaning

Caspianberg · 01/10/2023 16:26

Ds and I are full of cold and sniffles. So it’s been a lazy day in.
Did a bit of gardening for 20mins until I felt dizzy.
Now watching shrek with snotty toddler on sofa, dh is going to make mushroom risotto.

I have loads of stuff I should have done, but will have to wait until we are feeling better now

lightflighn · 01/10/2023 16:30

Never seen Sundays as for relaxing. We use our weekend days to get out and see and do the things we don't have a chance to during the week. With dcs now we do a family swim, a sports class and one other activity every Sunday - a playground if it's dry, or museum or gallery in wet weather. Sometimes have birthday party invites.
We try to fit in chores in the evening while dc are in bed, or while dc1 is at achool/dc2 is napping during the week. DH is at work Mon-Fri so I like to keep weekends as leisure time and spent together.

NonMiDispiace · 01/10/2023 16:31

That is gorgeous @MyOtherCarIsAPorsche 😍 I cannot get the hang of using more than one colour at a time.
My Sunday’s been good; DH took DDog out for a long walk (both now asleep and snoring 😴). While they were gone I did the ironing, changed the bed, got two loads of washing done and dried outside, cooked a curry for lunch and did an hour’s gardening (mainly weeding and cutting back)
I’ve spent the last two hours faffing on MN 😊
I will probably have a long bath and read my book in a bit.

Shoxfordian · 01/10/2023 16:54

Out in London, had an amazing lunch at gunpowder and going to Ronnie Scott’s tonight so not really relaxing but fun

DatingDinosaur · 01/10/2023 16:56

Sorry to rub salt in the wounds OP but my Sunday has been lovely and relaxing.

Got most of my housework/chores done yesterday and anything not done can wait until tomorrow. Spent today doing some yoga, reading, eating, a quick afternoon nap, dyed my hair and I'm just waiting for my friend to pop round to take the dog for a walk and have a natter. By then my slow cookered beef stew and dumpling should be ready.

If it's any consolation, Sundays like these are a Rare Thing for me and I have the attitude "anything non-urgent can wait a day".

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/10/2023 17:00

Not very. Went running and wanted to chill as been going to my mums most Sundays as she has arthritis and now can't move off the sofa. My brother lives there but I've been trying to help and deal with the clutter. Anyway- week off but had to take DD out to get a birthday present so trailing round the shopping centre. Then we decided to get a couple of Halloween decs which turned into a trip to hobbycraft to buy stuff to make our own wreath and other bits. Got home and I e got the worst headache so now she's annoyed we're not doing the crafting now and I'm stressing I've spent £50! Still got the bathroom to clean as well.

pastypirate · 01/10/2023 17:02

Currently stealing a few minutes alone with a chai latte and mn in the empty living room which is filled with the scent of sugar apple from a candle dd1 chose in aldi. It's amazing!
Dp is asleep after a night shift. Dd1 is making bracelets in the kitchen singing along to a female singer she likes it's very cute.
I think dd2 is pottering in her room.

I did all the roast prep earlier when we had family over for a gas.
I'm about to have a shower the then dinner goes in. While it's cooking I'll do the lunches for tomorrow.

I wouldn't say relaxed but I am organised
