How relaxing is your Sunday?

Mine isn't at all. Sad
Nothing major, thankfully but I just can't seem to get all the housework and laundry sorted to have one of those lovely chilled Sundays I keep aiming for.
So much mess all around me and I'd love to have one of those homes that's pretty tidy (I'm not looking for perfection) where I have time to go for a walk, put dinner on and read a book. Sigh.

Well, not sure if relaxed is the actual word. I normally do my big clean on a Friday, but Monday I crashed out of civilization with Covid. Today there was a related "health incident", I had taken myself off to the spare room, ended up having to strip the whole bed and wash it. Luckily, the weather was on my side, SE UK, fairly near the sea,it was 24c with a breeze. Have done a lot of sitting around,a little reading.

Very relaxing day today unlike a lot of Sundays.

I went to the gym this morning. Then home to do a bit of baking, food prep for the freezer and have lunch. Then to bed with DH.

MIL here for dinner tonight so we'll have wine shortly.

It’s about to get a whole lot more relaxing! Sundays are traditionally my favourite day of the week, it usually involves a walk and stopping off at a pub for a pint before coming home for a roast.
I did some chores this morning and then took the dc for a walk with family, lovely 6 mile walk through woodland and fields with some good tree climbing opportunities with cousins, then pub for crisps and drinks.
Home now. Other than sorting a bit of washing out and changing my bedding, all that’s required of me will be to eat a roast dinner later on.

I love a Sunday- my fav day. Lie in, breakfast in bed watching a series then dh and I spend a few hours cleaning/ gardening (I find cleaning therapeutic). I take dc to their sport club and whilst they're there take dog for a walk with my parents. Then dh, dc and I always go for a walk into the village and have Sunday dinner and a glass or two of wine and a few card games.

This is our first free Sunday in months so spent it doing awful jobs we've been avoiding such as sorting out the understairs cupboard and decluttering the spare bedroom.

Also made the Christmas cake 😄

I have: had lie-in with a cuppa, book & fun with DH 😉, laundry, dishwasher, more reading, been out conker-collecting then made an autumn display in a vase, done homework with DS2 & painted a craft model with DS3. Now making roast dinner & crumble. But feel like I would have liked to have done more! I don't really do relaxing 😬🤣

I brought ds for a driving lesson and did the grocery shopping this morning. Then came home and had lunch, then took 2nd ds to the secondary school open day while dd has gone swimming with her friend. I'm relaxing on the couch now but will have to make dinner and supervise dd's piano practice and banana bread making later on.

Hmmm I was going to say quite relaxed as I am in bed on MN at 5pm…… but no our house is not tidy and things are not ready for the new week. DH even had a strop about the house mess at lunchtime 😄 (he did his best to help but currently physically incapacitated and we’re in the middle of a build).

Today was parent jiu jitsu session with dc1, litter picking as a homework task with dc2, have made a soup from scratch, loads of telly. I like a mix like that. Easy dinner of HelloFresh (made by dc1 and dh). 🤷🏻‍♀️

See here. This is my aspirational Sunday.
Long woodland walk. Time with family. Nice food at the end of an active day.
Sounds wonderful.

I do a load of laundry Friday night. All school uniform, Dh's work trousers etc. We do all jobs first thing on a Saturday morning. I do ironing Saturday morning. This all takes an hour or so. I then have all day Saturday and all day Sunday to relax. The trick is to do it all first thing, then you have the rest of the weekend free.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 01/10/2023 17:25

Had a lie in until just after 9am and then lazed around. Popped into town as there’s a street market on every Sunday until Christmas so that was nice. Came home and had a late lunch of stuff bought at the market. Felt tired (have the start do a cold - thanks DD) so after watching a bit of TV came up to bed. Ddog has just joined me but I have to get up and do school marking and prep for tomorrow.

DP is cooking dinner (pork normande) and I’ll have to help get DD ready for bed later.

The house is a tip but it can wait a bit longer.

Oblomov23 · 01/10/2023 17:34

I did jobs yesterday, went into London to watch football match - spurs v Liverpool. Very exciting. This morning went for flu jab, took ds2 to football match, cooked curry. Been sat down watching tv and mn'ing for the afternoon.

ShortColdandGrey · 01/10/2023 17:46

Ours has been very chill today, but that is due to my daughter being up all night throwing up. So we are all very tired. Thankfully, she hasn't been sick since 8/9 am.

Purplerain0505 · 01/10/2023 17:59

Really relaxing, but it takes a bit of planning.

I try to get some housework done Friday after work, then do some more Saturday morning and I’ll purposely leave only one or two easier jobs for the Sunday so it never takes long. Usually just another load of laundry done in the morning.

If we need to go anywhere we’ll do it in the morning and we might go for a walk or something as well. We always try to make sure we’re in the house from 1pm onwards (this rule really changed our Sundays).

I sort out school bags, work bags, uniform, etc early in the day so it’s done. DH cooks a roast dinner while I potter around. We’ll have the radio on, nice smelly candles lit, I’ll take a nap or read a book, DS will play or watch a film, we’ll have a bottle of red wine open. It’s my favourite day of the week.

TheChosenTwo · 01/10/2023 19:13

@TheHighQueenOfTheFarRealm yep, autumnal/wintry Sundays are some of my all time favourite days. I like to get the jobs done early, dh cooks the roast in the evening and other than that it’s a walk and chilling. Sundays when I was a child were filled with trepidation, we never did anything and all I could think about was having to go back to school the next day! Now my dc all enjoy a Sunday because we make the most of it, sometimes heading off to the coast for some arcades and crazy golf and chips along the beach but we are really lucky to have our family close and we all get on so usually will holler on the group chat a time and a place to walk. There’s anything from 5-18 of us that turn up! The only thing that will make it better will be when the weather turns and we can have a fire when we get home!

sprigatito · 01/10/2023 19:18

I'm on a very crowded train which is absolutely baking hot and the air quality is awful. I have a splitting headache and there is a family of six braying, shrieking and laughing at the tops of their voices right in front of me. They've been at it for hours. Pig ignorant arseholes.

Goldencup · 01/10/2023 19:50

Day of chores here.
Clearing out DS's room (gone to Uni), then deep cleaning kitchen and bathrooms. Load of laundry and a quick run. Also teenage meltdown.

nearlywinteragain · 01/10/2023 20:14

I work on a Sunday so it isn't particularly relaxing.
The rest of the family tend to do chores and housework.
