Are you using the "THANKS" feature?

TheShellBeach · 29/09/2023 12:58

I've had a few "thanks" for my posts, and have also thanked other posters.

I'm not sure it's being used much though. It's hard to tell.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the thanks to be visible to everyone?

But it tells the poster that someone has liked their post, or wants to give them thanks. That's more important than everyone else seeing it, surely?

It's almost impossible for a poster to know they've been thanked though.
So it's kind of pointless.

You're right, it's pointless. It should be taken away and put the quote button back in that bit

No it isn't 'almost impossible'

  1. You get a notification saying you have been thanked for a post on a thread. You can leave it at that with a slight warm glow, or you can do
  2. Click on the notification and it takes you to the post. You can then feel, oh I'm glad the time I spent writing that was appreciated by someone. You can leave it there, or you can do
  3. Click on the thanks and see which user has thanked you.
tuvamoodyson · 29/09/2023 16:22

I use it as a ‘like’

dutysuite · 29/09/2023 16:39

I’ve only just noticed it because of your post. I’d prefer a like button or the quote back.

BIWI · 29/09/2023 16:55

The quote button hasn't disappeared! If you click on the three buttons at the top right of the box it's the first option there

BIWI · 29/09/2023 16:55

@TheShellBeach it isn't 'almost impossible'! You get a notification to tell you that someone has thanked you, and the notification tells you which thread/post.

InterFactual · 29/09/2023 17:03

I'm a redditor so I use it in the same way as the upvote button on Reddit. If you say the thing I wanted to come into the thread and say then I thank you and usually add my two cents in my own comment. I figured that's how everyone was using it? Just a tip of the hat to support people who you agree with.

The quote button is still in situ.

It's hard to find your thanks among a bazillion notifications.

How many notifications do you get?? I only get them if tagged or thanked.

DinosaurOfFire · 29/09/2023 17:41

I havent, because it sends your username to the person you are thanking and I'd rather it was anonymous. If it was anonymous I'd use it a lot, much like others are saying- as an upvote/ like kind of button.

Ah.
Maybe I need to figure out which notifications to receive. Grin

I've been using it as a like button too.

I also think it should be made public because it would be interesting on a lot of threads, to see how many people agree/disagree with some of the posts.

Yes I know they can post to say so, but often people are just lurking or they're not in the mood right at that moment to engage in the conversation they're following.

Am similarly app-restricted.

So am saying 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 to you all in advance of any need Grin.

PatsWoggle · 29/09/2023 17:50

No because like the stupid voting feature it's not on the app. I don't really see the point of it anyway it seems a bit childish and am glad to read it's not visible.

Ffsjustltb · 29/09/2023 18:20

I just recently got a thanks on a thread that is months old. Obviously someone reading it who wouldn't want to add a comment and un zombie the thread 🙂
I really don't think public likes would be a good idea. We have enough attention seekers posting awful things already, without encouraging them.
Fwiw, I always think you post kind and helpful words, op.

That certainly deserves thanks!

I know that. It was moved for that thanks button. Just get rid of that and put it back.

But then nobody would see the thanks button.
