… what?

What can you blame MN for recently?
Have you bought anything totally unnecessary, something which never would’ve never been on your radar until you saw it here?
Have you read a book due to someone mentioning it on MN?
Maybe even named your child a name which had never crossed your mind before? 😁

Thanks to MN, I have gone and … booked a holiday to Seville!
It has always been on the cards, but reading all about the current love for the city gave me the impetus to go ahead with it.
So actually I can also blame MN for being skint now 😆

Got divorced. Grin

PinkMoscatoLover · 27/09/2023 12:20

Threatened to report a company I worked for to HMRC because they were unlawfully not paying me SMP. Thanks MN!

ODFOx · 27/09/2023 12:30

Bought an instant pot.
It sat alone in its box in the corner of the kitchen as I didn't have time to read the instructions.
Eventually I put it up on EBay, fortunately at a time when the instant pot was out of stock everywhere else. Made a 30% profit. Thanks MN .

Got a list of 20+ dystopian novels to add to my “want to read” list on Goodreads. DH says that’s birthdays and Christmas sorted for a decade 😁

Also bought myself (and MIL for Christmas) a automatic egg boiler. We all eat Keto so this is a great addition!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 27/09/2023 12:40

Spoke to my nasty neighbours

and they have packed up and left!! Mn advice for the win. Very happy days.

Tarkan · 27/09/2023 12:43

I onde bought a more expensive butter because many people raved about it. I found it way too salty for me and struggled to use it.

However I also bought a Lantana can opener thanks to MN and I absolutely love it. No more sharp edges. 😁

Thecomfortador · 27/09/2023 12:52

Bought an Oodie. Hopefully will be recouping the cost this winter, maybe we did last winter, I'm not sure! But certainly wore it lots while working in the kitchen. My mum thought it was hilarious.

Wasted time

Bought some bulbs in Lidl - same daffodils were way cheaper than Farmer Gracy online... I had bought from there years ago, and they were always good, but I'd forgotten, so thanks for recommending!

Hah! Me too Blush

Thanks to MN I realised my D'H was abusing me. Have now started the divorce process.

Tadpolle · 27/09/2023 13:00

I realised my ex wasn't just horrible, he was a coercive control abuser. I wish I'd had mumsnet in my life before I met him.

countvoncount · 27/09/2023 13:00

Updated my car music playlist with long forgotten 90's smashers

VeronicaBeccabunga · 27/09/2023 13:03

Bought some Boots No 7 foundation that turned out to be just what I wanted.
It's the Essentially Natural one, it's lightweight and moisturising with SPF 15 and doesn't settle on my wrinkly dry old skin. The No 7 ladies are very helpful with colour matching, too.

And now I've gone and ordered a Lantana can opener. This is going very meta, ordering something off a 'what has MN made you buy?' thread 😂

jazzhands84 · 27/09/2023 13:23

Become a trustee of my local women's refuge. It's only been a couple of years but I'm learning a lot. The many, many accounts on here of abuse gave me the impetus.

Was in Seville yesterday. Can I suggest a night time walk to the plaza d'españa citymapper.com/go/26ezkjt2i6

Really impressive and empty at night.

fiddlesticksandotherwords · 27/09/2023 13:58

Went to a couple of brilliant restaurants in Whitby thanks to recommendations on MN.

Butterkist8 · 27/09/2023 14:55

Erborian BB and CC cream.

Heated throw for my elderly mum.

Panasonic bread maker.

I feel rather proud that I've influenced the first of these on this thread. 😁

You've got me tempted to travel to the bigger Boots in the city to get colour matched for that foundation now too. 😁

RedLem0nade · 27/09/2023 15:54

Discovered Persephone Books,
Bought a Breville deep pan sandwich maker,
Stockpiled zoflora,
Bought a sling (back in the day),
Given the advice “no is a complete sentence”,
Made purchases from Boden, Seasalt, Sézane and, thanks to the Dark Academia thread, a bunch of additional places which will now become the new sources of my wallet angina.

That’s just off the top of my head🤗

Topseyt123 · 27/09/2023 15:54

I did once buy a Lakeland heated airer after seeing it raved about on here. To be fair, it did sound like a good idea at the time.

Useless, and the cost of leaving it on overnight to dry the washing was much the same as running the tumble dryer for a couple of hours. So it went to the dump.

Rivendellcarrot · 27/09/2023 16:03

@Cazzovuoi would you mind sharing the books?

Tarkan · 27/09/2023 16:03

Oh how could I forget Zoflora. I have so much in a box under the kitchen sink that I haven't needed to buy them for years and could probably still last another couple.

DH worked for Scotrail during lockdown and at first they weren't given ANYTHING to clean down stuff that people were touching. So if anyone happened to notice Dundee railway station smelling remarkably lovely at the start of lockdown, that was due to my personal Zoflora stash that DH raided to take in. BlushGrin

LadyMargaretDevereux · 27/09/2023 16:10

I bought a squirty mop!
