I'm not having a funeral- just a direct cremation. No funeral, no memorial. No fuss.

hopelessbusiness · 27/09/2023 21:06

I've only got 2 so far...
Bruce Springsteen - I'll see you in my dreams
Simple Minds - the long black train.
Hope I have a long time to think about the third!

banggoestheweasel · 27/09/2023 21:07

On a more serious note... I'll be seeing you - Billie Holiday

Phos · 27/09/2023 21:09

Red Light Spells Danger - Billy Ocean

Only You - Yazoo

Smooth - Santana

How fucking morbid...

@OneMoreCookieMonster

Not at all.

Back in March this year, my younger brother died very suddenly and unexpectedly. Not knowing what his wishes were (as he was only 62 and thought he had many years left) created a lot of unnecessary stress for my SIL, who was - as you can imagine - grieving.

It taught me that it's important to have your plans in place, so that those left behind know what you want, and you don't add to their burden.

hopelessbusiness · 27/09/2023 22:07

I was in exactly the same position with my brother who received a horrible diagnosis and faced a very short life expectancy. He was 55 so hadn't thought about his own demise. Having to discuss his funeral with him is up there as one of the hardest things I've ever done, but I had to to make sure it was what he wanted.

hopelessbusiness · 27/09/2023 22:08

That was meant to be in response to BIWI...

Furryrug · 27/09/2023 22:09

@BIWI I agree , we lost my dear dad a few weeks ago and suddenly all these seemingly small decisions what music , religious/non religious ceremony, even whether to dress him in a suit or more comfortable clothes , became quite difficult for us at one of the worse times ever.
Im sorry you lost your brother xx
