Anything similar to anchor butter and the anchor spread?

Are you doing a feature?

Mum2jenny · 26/09/2023 22:20

Never, I hate Anchor butter and will never buy it. However you cannot beat a bit of good UK butter

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 26/09/2023 22:21

I buy Aldi butter. It's not a downgrade- that's what I always buy.

Playingintheshadow · 26/09/2023 22:22

Hate Anchor. Buy Tesco own brand.

Barleysugar86 · 26/09/2023 22:22

We haven't.

Can't beat Lurpak, and I could tell the difference (yes even the Nordpak).

I just get on offer now where I can.

Pleaseme · 26/09/2023 22:22

I've always bought whatever Scottish salted butter is cheapesat in the supermarket I'm in. Markies surprisingly is often really good value for milk/ butter. Not a fan of anchor / lurpak/ branded butter.

SuperfluousToRequirements · 26/09/2023 22:23

Country life from Lurpak.
Its cheaper and it’s British.

heartbroken22 · 26/09/2023 22:24

@Darkbountyismissing naah I need to start saving more money. Can't be paying close to a fiver each for tea and spread.

AuroraForever · 26/09/2023 22:25

Tesco or Aldi own butter. Won’t touch any spread with a barge pole.

heartbroken22 · 26/09/2023 22:25

I switch between the Aldi butter and the Irish butter forgot what it's called...it's just the anchor spread my kids love.

Started making my own so quick and so much cheaper.

orchardsquare · 26/09/2023 22:25

For proper butter, we just get whatever's on offer. I've never been able to find a spreadable butter (in a tub, for when it's too cold for proper butter to spread) that's as good as Lurpak though.

Crikeyalmighty · 26/09/2023 22:26

I buy M&S

RufustheFactualReindeer · 26/09/2023 22:28

the own brand of wherever we are shopping, I can’t really tell the difference between that and the anchor I used to buy

Sherrystrull · 26/09/2023 22:29

We love Countrylife. I've converted many people to it!

MariePaperRoses · 26/09/2023 22:29

What has happened with butter? Why does it need to be downgraded?

I usually buy M&S salted butter or occasionally another brand as long as it's salted.

They also do a softer butter which is a butter mixture which is ok for sandwiches with lots of fillings but I prefer salted butter for cheese sandwiches.

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 26/09/2023 22:29

We’ve downgraded to Flora plant butter

allhellcantstopusnow · 26/09/2023 22:31

Salted proper butter. I'm unwilling to compromise.

TGGreen · 26/09/2023 22:31

Some things I'll never substitute and real butter is one of them.

BotterMon · 26/09/2023 22:31

M&S Unsalted. We don't use much butter at all so it lasts for around 3 weeks!

M and S spreadable butter and president spreadable are quite good.

They are no soft like spreads but softer than butter. m and s is just whipped butter, the president I think has some cream added.

theduchessofspork · 26/09/2023 22:32

@MariePaperRoses

Erm the cost has gone up

Vettrianofan · 26/09/2023 22:32

Lidl lightly salted spreadable butter. Have always bought this.

APurpleSquirrel · 26/09/2023 22:33

DH & the kids have Countrylife Spreadable Butter; I have Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Farmhouse Butter.
