Anything similar to anchor butter and the anchor spread?

I’m trying to reduce UPF so have gone back to real butter.

MintJulia · 26/09/2023 22:34

I haven't changed. Tesco's English salted & unsalted butters.

Peaceandquietfinally · 26/09/2023 22:37

I buy proper butter so whatever is cheaper in the supermarket. Anchor spreadable is awful!>

orchardsquare · 26/09/2023 22:37

@theduchessofspork thanks, I might give the M&S one a go as don't think we've tried that yet

Jojoanna · 26/09/2023 22:37

I buy the Aldi country butter spread for sandwiches but nothing beats real butter -

mynumber · 26/09/2023 22:39

I'm new to butter. Just bought done unsalted Tesco own brand.
Reading the posts on here I'm wondering if I should have bought salted?

elizabethdraper · 26/09/2023 22:43

It's real Irish butter or nothing

lapochette · 26/09/2023 22:43

M&S salted butter but only because that's where I happened to pick up butter when we've ran out the last few times. My favourite is President spreadable butter - it's mixed with double cream - what's not to like but I've not had any for ages.

I like salted butter I think it tastes nicer on toast. Some posh butters have outrageous amounts of delicious salt flakes and taste amazing on everything but my poor arteries couldn't take it!

Unsalted butter I buy for baking but it's very much a personal preference. I had a german friend come to stay and she was appalled that I gave her salted butter for something sweet.

err dude, did you miss the thread OK making butter? we are all making our own now... some mumsnetters even have 'housecows' - not entirely sure of the arrangements there.... many also make their own mozzarella, yoghurt and of course foccaccia

Wish I had the time and the inclination to bother!!

OMGI loved that thread! Can't be arsed to make butter, but I want a housecow!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 26/09/2023 23:00

I don't eat butter or spread, except on baked potatoes.

giraffes2021 · 26/09/2023 23:02

Where's the tea bag thread?? Haha my tea bags getting pricey now on Yorkshire tea
I get flora tends to be on offer Tesco £1.75

Xmasbaby11 · 26/09/2023 23:03

We still buy unsalted butter, supermarket own brand. We also still buy Bonne Maman jam. We have cut back in other ways though.

gogomoto · 26/09/2023 23:03

Lidl own, have used for 10+ years.

PrinceHaz · 26/09/2023 23:04

I wouldn’t downgrade on butter. It’s such a delicious thing, I buy the best I can get from wherever I’m shopping whether it the West Country one from Lidl or the Jersey one from M and S.

New to butter?! Confused

GrimGrinningGhosts · 26/09/2023 23:13

You will not part me from my President. Nope. No way.

Phos · 26/09/2023 23:16

I've always bought the supermarket own brand that's similar to lurpak.

rugbymumm · 26/09/2023 23:17

Always and forever Lurpak.

Hermittrismegistus · 26/09/2023 23:22

I haven’t downgraded as I can’t find a butter as tasty as President spreadable. I was hoping the M&S one would be a good substitute but it’s completely tasteless.

Nepmarthiturn · 26/09/2023 23:23

These are the best butters, really:

VeronicaFranklin · 26/09/2023 23:23

Lidl do a west country butter that's affordable and tastes as good as lurpak! I tried flora the other day and it tasted like margarine...😷

vlo · 26/09/2023 23:24

Kerrygold, always and forever
