Ours is w/c 30th so is actually mostly November!

OP posts:

The week before here

BoobsOnTheMoon · 26/09/2023 07:04

DS has got 2 weeks off, last week of October and first week of November. Independent specialist school though so always has longer holidays!

CyberCritical · 26/09/2023 07:05

WC 16th October, so 2 weeks before yours. Earlier than usual this year, it was 22nd last year I think.

My DS is the same and is also at an independent specialist. They claim to have the same term length as state schools but they don't.

daffodilandtulip · 26/09/2023 07:07

Same as yours OP, it's a bit odd isn't it?

Exasperatednow · 26/09/2023 07:08

Last week of October.

Cupofteaandcrackers · 26/09/2023 07:09

Same as you op and its been like this for a few years now (since before covid).

Whinge · 26/09/2023 07:09

2 weeks here as well, although we're not an independent school.

23rd October - 3rd November.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 26/09/2023 07:10

Two weeks from the 23rd. State school but they use all the inset days in one go to make a two week half term.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 26/09/2023 07:10

23rd October - 3 November. All schools get 2 weeks in October half term round here. Which will be needed as they don't break up for Christmas until the 22nd of December

avocadotofu · 26/09/2023 07:10

DS has two weeks, last week October and first week November. I'm also a teacher and I'm off the last week of October.

Paddingtonthebear · 26/09/2023 07:10

One week here, 23rd to 27th

Same. Are you Leicestershire?

EnchantedCastle · 26/09/2023 07:12

6th to 23rd.

BendingSpoons · 26/09/2023 07:15

7yo w/c 16th and 23rd
4yo w/c 23rd
Both state schools. The difference is annoying!

CyberCritical · 26/09/2023 07:42

Yes @KenAdams, benefit to always having earlier holidays is if you go to an attraction outside our city it's dead quiet. We often head to Birmingham or Nottingham or to a theme park knowing the local kids will all still be at school.

RightOnTheEdge · 26/09/2023 07:46

Ours break up 27th October, so really it's the first week of November which is a week later than normal.

My daughter is very happy though because her birthday will be in the holidays this time.

reluctantbrit · 26/09/2023 07:52

16-27.10.

It's now the norm in our borough to have 2 weeks half-term after more and more schools/trusts started it a couple of years ago.

I like it as it means we can go away when it's still warm but not hot as we like sightseeing, that's also the reason they do it mid-October instead of going into November.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 26/09/2023 08:01

Just moved to secondary. At this school they have 2 weeks off starting 16 October, but only 5 weeks at xmas. I think it's better.

MrsAmaretto · 26/09/2023 08:03

6th-24th October

Jagley · 26/09/2023 08:05

Same as you op, first week of November, seems odd!

Phos · 26/09/2023 08:07

Break up on 13th and go back on 30th. Rest of schools in authority finish as we go back. Wish I’d known we were so out of sync, I’d have booked a holiday! As it is it’s a massive pain because all the holiday activities she usually likes to do are in the week she’s back.

Pleaseme · 26/09/2023 08:08

Scotland 6th - 24th. Our school is off on strike for next three days as well. It feels like they are never there.

Do you mean 5 weeks in the summer? I would love 5 weeks at Christmas but unfortunately no school is giving that as a present. Grin

Icequeen01 · 26/09/2023 08:09

Ours is the last two weeks of October (so go back on 30th). Bit annoying as last year it was last week of October and first week of November which is what DH has so this means we only have a week together.

I will be forced to fill my first week with shopping trips and meeting friends for days out and DH will have to fill his week with golf. On second thoughts I like this holiday 🤣
