Ours is w/c 30th so is actually mostly November!

2 weeks in October starting 9th

DinnaeFashYersel · 26/09/2023 08:10

Plus 3 strike days this week

ilikeeggs · 26/09/2023 08:10

16th - 20th

ghostbusters · 26/09/2023 08:17

Scotland too. We're off for the last 2 weeks of October for the tatties holidays. Seems late again this year.
I've got 1 child at home because of strikes and the other has gone to school as their school is open.

RainyJuly23 · 26/09/2023 08:21

I work with schools (not education as such) and have to know when each school that I'm working with is having their half term as they generally want our services within the half term, and this year it's all over! Helps us massively though as we can get more schools in during the half term. I'm based in Leicestershire and we are very early compared to most other schools starting 16th October.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 26/09/2023 08:27

DD has two weeks from the 16th but DS only has the second week off.

mynameiscalypso · 26/09/2023 08:29

W/c 23rd here which seems about usual. We have an inset day on the 20th and planning to go to a theme park so glad to hear that it might not be too busy!

Madcats · 26/09/2023 08:31

DD gets a week and 2 days, so we break up on 19th, back on 30th.

Those of you with earlier holidays; the half term up to Christmas must feel as if it goes on forever?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/09/2023 08:33

One dc is wc 23rd and the other dc is wc 30th Hmm

It does and then they don’t break up to the 22nd. I’d much rather have a bit of time pre Christmas than in January when everything is a bit depressing.

BelindaBears · 26/09/2023 08:39

The week before that. The run up to Christmas is going to be loooonnng.

We only break at the 20th December and then back at the 4th. I would prefer more time before Christmas as we could then visit family as I never can take time off between Christmas and New Year.

Our school puts lots of assessments in and actively encourages revision during October half term, her old secondary (moved for 6th form) tried to put up mocks in half term but the parents revolted.

Pleaseme · 26/09/2023 08:50

@BelindaBears so very long. I’m always exhausted by the time Christmas rolls around. All the Christmas fun stuff is squeezed in around school. Then we are off and there is nothing / hardly anything to do.

BelindaBears · 26/09/2023 08:52

@Pleaseme she won’t be going back to school until 8th January 😒

Whinge · 26/09/2023 08:53

Like others on the thread we break up on the 22nd. I hate breaking up so late as there's no time at all to wind down before Christmas.

wellthatslovely · 26/09/2023 08:58

My two are at two different state secondaries in the same LA - both break up on 20th,one for a fortnight one for 1.5 weeks.

Coral569 · 26/09/2023 09:17

One week, w/c 23rd. All the kids halloween events are happening pretty early this year where we are! We've then got a long slog to Christmas as they're breaking up later than usual.

KeepNameChanging81 · 26/09/2023 09:22

All over the place then I was hoping there might be some consistency, just feels late.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/09/2023 09:24

Same! It's so late. We've no inset before or after either so a full 8 weeks for my younger dc & 8 w +2 days for me. My older 2 didn't go back until the Thursday & have an inset on the last Friday so slightly less of a slog.

I don't mind finishing on 22/12 for Christmas, less time to kill before the day then a good chunk to enjoy their new things after. I'm back in on 8/1 the dc 9/1 which is much nicer than last year when it was 3/1 & 4/1.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 26/09/2023 09:24

Sorry, yes summer not Xmas 🙃

medianewbie · 26/09/2023 09:28

1 week, w/c 11th Oct. Our local council usually sets it a week later (& it ties in with local Colleges & Unis). This time, they moved it, fairly last min. I know a family who just found out & are struggling to move their holiday dates.
