A white poodle. I got a nightdress case one

tobee · 26/09/2023 15:41

Train set.

scalextric

My sister was into Barbie and girly stuff. So I had to share that I think.

When I got together with Dh he bought me a scalextric. It was brilliant!

Mummyme87 · 26/09/2023 15:49

A doll that had roller blades. Never got it. Every year I asked for it

bemorebernard · 26/09/2023 15:49

Never got the al a carte kitchen, but my sister did 😕

I always wanted a pair of green frog wellies that were popular in the 80s, never got those either 😢

Edited

DS2, now 41, had the green frog wellies around 1986?

Just remembered the name 'Wellipets'

People on the tube used to look and admire Grin

Firkinhavinalaugh · 26/09/2023 15:59

Mr Frosty
Operation
mouse trap
cabbage patch doll
that domino run thing

to be fair I was the baby by a long way so got very indulged (I did have the Cadbury mini bar and a speak and spell AND strawberry shortcake - I don’t think I wanted her though)

my dad used to come home with a ballerina Sindy if I was ill to cheer me up (although I wasn’t a huge fan but her feet moved) he also bought me a coveted My Little Pony in a stable for a swimming race win.

OldTinHat · 26/09/2023 16:02

A scooter and a pogo stick.

I still berate my DM about my disappointment and I'm 52! She claims she had no idea I wanted either (I suspect she did but probably thought they were too dangerous!).

Coyoacan · 26/09/2023 16:03

Not a toy but I wanted an elephant and as I couldn't have one, I didn't want anything else

mrssanchez · 26/09/2023 16:11

My Pet Monster!

mrssanchez · 26/09/2023 16:15

A toy gremlin that they had in the toy shop which was cute, fluffy Gizmo but turned inside out to become a bad gremlin.

And the Fisher Price Record Player when I was little, I wanted that so badly.

Staggersaurus · 26/09/2023 16:15

Another Mr Frosty here! Both me and DH always wanted one so when we got together we bought ourselves one. I can confirm it is shit.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 26/09/2023 16:17

Mr Frosty! DD2 has one and it's rubbish. I did have the mini Cadburys vending machine though.

43ontherocksporfavor · 26/09/2023 16:18

Mr Frosty. Mum said it was full of rubbish coloured syrup. She was right of course.

wildwestpioneer · 26/09/2023 16:19

A Live Aid T-shirt. Not quite the same as a gift but I saved up my pocket money, gave it to my parents, we sent a cheque off and the T-shirt never arrived

43ontherocksporfavor · 26/09/2023 16:19

Ahhh @wildwestpioneer 🥲

bellsbuss · 26/09/2023 16:20

Mr Frosty

I had the record player and I'm sorry to say it was awesome.

Did you know you can buy an old-style but hi-fi turntable that will play actual vinyls now though? Lots of places sell them. If I was you I'd be dropping hints for Xmas or just getting one for myself.

GrimGrinningGhosts · 26/09/2023 16:26

An AT-AT and Star Wars figures. I was told 'Girls didn't have Star Wars'. Must have traumatised me because as an adult I collect Star Wars stuff.... the only stipulation being they are life size. So all those little figures I wanted are now full costumes.
DH blames my Mother 😂

GrimGrinningGhosts · 26/09/2023 16:27

Slightly baffled as to why an innocuous reply about Star Wars has been hidden immediately after posting @MNHQ ?

Edit
And now its back. Must have been a weird glitch.

TootenCarMoon · 26/09/2023 16:29

I always wanted a Screwball Scramble, never got one.

One year I got a Major Morgan and loved it, one my siblings dropped it in the bath- devastated.

I had the Petite Typewriter, it was awesome. Used to love buying fancy paper for it.

Dominoeffecter · 26/09/2023 16:30

I got a Mr Frosty and the Cadbury dispenser

AbsolCatly · 26/09/2023 16:33

I had a Mr Frosty and loved it!

Always wanted a train set but got told no as your dad has one in the attic (it's still there today and mum has threatened to give it to 40 year old me now if I keep on about it Grin)

And a Lego pirate ship - out of my parents budget but would still love one now Smile may buy it for myself this year and label love from DH!

Strugglingtodomybest · 26/09/2023 16:33

theculture · 26/09/2023 15:30

One of those big plastic dolls heads that you could cut and style hair and do makeup

Too stereotypically girly for my right on parents in the 80's

We should have swapped parents! I asked for LEGO every year and never got it but I did get the girls world head, that I didn't ask for and didn't particularly want. I presume I didn't get Lego because I'm not a boy, because my brother got it.

jellycat · 26/09/2023 16:34

Girls World. They never said why they wouldn’t give me one. We didn’t have much money though, so I suppose it was deemed too expensive.

I did have one of those mini vending machines with the little chocolate bars, but I only got an initial supply of chocolate and it never got refilled because the choc bars were too expensive 🙄

(I wasn’t generally deprived but there really wasn’t much spare money around!).

cptartapp · 26/09/2023 16:39

Yep, Mr Frosty.
In a similar vein as an adult I refused to buy my DC the chocolate coin maker as I thought it looked shite.
