Anyone met a celebrity and they haven’t been how you expected?

I guess from all the RB threads…a lot of people saying that they are appalled but not exactly surprised.

so I wondered - anybody met anyone well known and they were NOT how you expected? For good or bad?

I had a very strange and brief encounter with one of my favourite actresses a couple of years ago and it was not what I expected at all! Made me realise of course we don’t know these people at all. Any other stories?

I would hope he was the most loveliest man ever so this makes me happy! 🤣

McSteamyorMcdreamy · 03/10/2023 12:35

@CwmYoy that was to you...!

@CwmYoy that was to you...!

He is lovely. Funny, kind, generous and a loyal friend.

Katie Price gave me her packet of baby wipes and refused any money to replace them.
James Martin is lovely despite what I've read.

Fwendi · 03/10/2023 13:33

Ulrika Johnson was very polite and grateful when I held a door open for in the gp's surgery.

Tim Wonnacott (ex bargain hunt host) stopped me in the street to tell me I had a beautiful baby :). Chatted for about 20 mins - he told me he came back once a week to help his elderly parents.

Not me but someone I know works on one of the royal estates. On my friend's birthday Charles gave him a miniature pill box, on the lid of which he'd painted a picture.

Bette milder—reserved, serious, muted colored clothes

The Greg Davies and Russell Tovey makes me so happy. I used to come across a lot of famous people in my old line of work.

off the top of my head, Andy Murray, Angela Scanlon, jamilia jameel, Chris Martin, Chris Ramsey David O’Doherty and Brad Pitt all very respectful.

Morvan Christie sent someone over to tell them not to look at her and Phil Wang was a prick.

im lucky to live in a city where I get to bump into a lot of famous people across the year (and at one time in particular) and I’m always amazed and more often than not fortunately pleasantly surprised.

I once heard the Fonze whining about the amount of people that wanted to stop and chat. He had a face like a slapped arse.
Caught him on a bad day, I think.

Worst was andrew Maxwell. Which checked out when he was on I'm a celeb. So incredibly rude!!!

I've met a lot of politicians and regardless of politics they've all been lovely. Michael Gove was a bit socially awkward, but otherwise very polite etc.

Also met a few footballers, and again all been fairly nice people.

TheShellBeach · 03/10/2023 13:54

I met Simon Callow and he was a absolutely charming.

Katrinawaves · 03/10/2023 13:55

Amanda Holden despite her bad press is very gracious and humble in real life and lovely with the crew on the shows she works on.

TheShellBeach · 03/10/2023 13:55

And Howard Goodall. He was also charming and amusing.

One of the Hairy Bikers screamed at me

CwmYoy · 03/10/2023 12:32

Greg Davies is all you hope he would be.

That's me happy for the day thanks 😊

CakeInAJar · 03/10/2023 13:58

Oh and India Willoughby told me to fuck off 🤣

aprilshowers2015 · 03/10/2023 14:08

I've met Ronan Keating twice in "official" settings (meet & greet type things) and he made it very obvious he didn't want to be there either time, was so rude, ignored the fans and just spoke to the other band members. The 2nd time he was refusing to do photos and some of the younger fans were so disappointed.
The rest of Boyzone are all lovely though 😂

Screaming Lord Such, he was the head of the monster raving loony party back in the day. He was absolutely nothing like his public persona . An absolute gem of a man that used to stay with us every summer. He was T total at the time and loved nothing more than reading the paper with a brew and watching our pet rabbits bounce around the garden. When we got new hutches for them he sent "welcome to your new home" cards to Bunny towers. He was just lovely, internet, friendly and down to earth.

LakeTiticaca · 03/10/2023 14:32

My neices partner is a sound engineer and has worked in showbiz/TV for donkeys years. He doesn't often name names but (he says) the general consensus among those work in the business that the lower down the list "celebs" are, the more unpleasant they are. He says most A-listers he has met are charm personified, while the Z list wannabes are far more demanding!!

WearyAuldWumman · 03/10/2023 15:41

Can't say that I'm surprised - some of India's tweets are rather venomous.

AmIAutumnalNow · 03/10/2023 15:52

I could have guessed Andrew
castle although he is well kown for being a knob

For the pp Andy Murray
Is absolutely lovely.

I have met loads. The most notable was Madonna was incredibly kind and lovely to me, I was utterly star stuck aged 10.

The worst? Steve Coogan, just a nasty, rude, horrid man - I loved him and was gutted. Oh and Peter Hook, but he's not really famous other than for being a knob head is he?

Sad to hear about Steve Coogan. He seems like he'd be lovely, but impressions can be very misleading.

TheShellBeach · 03/10/2023 15:58

Jennie Bond is really lovely.

Sophie Thompson is also a delight, as is Richard Lumsden (who was her husband when I met them).

TheShellBeach · 03/10/2023 15:59

Linda Robson is very pleasant.

I briefly met Janine Duvitski who was very nice too.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 03/10/2023 16:01

@hdbs17 - I just knew you meant Andrew Castle.

@CakeInAJar - what did you do to them?!

LowbrowVictoriana · 03/10/2023 16:01

Michael Sheen was very low key, pleasant and kind when DD and I met him.

Ray Winstone - very gentlemanly.
