Lucy Letby appeal

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 16/09/2023 07:33

Sorry if not allowed to discuss here but just seem that this vile creature plans to appeal against her original sentence as per yesterday’s news. Her defence team is leading this potential appeal.

WTAF?!

They haven’t reached a verdict on is it 6 or 7 poor other little babies who died and she’s suspected, I thought?

So sad for the poor parents and babies still.

Apparently it is normal to take handover notes home and some nurses have apparently been advised to do it in case they are ever accused of anything

No it’s not normal - and if notes are taken home by accident a half decent nurse destroys them, they don’t stash them under their bed

As a former NHS worker I NEVER heard of anyone being advised to takes notes home to protect themselves when they’d be readily available. What total nonsense

itsgettingweird · 24/09/2023 06:33

"That is their truth" is no different to saying they are lying.

That was the truth.

978q · 24/09/2023 09:25

Note that of the 7 consultants in the unit, only one was expert in neonatology. Proposals were underway to appoint 2 additional consultants, one with expertise in neonatology and another in diabetes. Note also that there is no nationally agreed template on conducting morbidity reviews in neonatology.

TomPinch · 24/09/2023 09:39

I have no idea what that link is about. You don't have the good manners to explain it. You don't even have the good manners to bring a mind of your own to the discussion.

Just link-bombing and insults.

978q · 24/09/2023 09:42

"I have no idea"

No disagreement from me on that point.

"I have no idea"

Which sums up your entire contribution at all this, right from the start. Quoting partially and selectively.

Lucy Letby may be innocent for all I know but you've done precisely nothing to convince me because you don't know that you're talking about. You need a real life hobby.

978q · 24/09/2023 09:49

I wouldn't dream of insulting you, you would think it a compliment.

Why do you think your posts keep being deleted?

ItstimeToMoveagain · 24/09/2023 09:53

Why do you keep banging on about what they specialised in like it matters

978q · 24/09/2023 09:56

Why do you keep banging on about what they specialised in like it matters

You obviously think it doesn't, your prerogative.

ZadocPDederick · 24/09/2023 09:56

I see that Professor Moss, the author of that article, is a Professor of Management and Marketing. So of course we should accept her view over that of, um, medical experts.

The article makes it clear that the author wasn't at court and therefore did not see and hear all the evidence, nor by definition has she seen the written evidence. If I were advocating the use of Critical Thinking, I'd use some critical thought to ponder the wisdom of criticising a decision based on that evidence.

However, what really damns Professor Moss is that she relies on information on the Science on Trial website. No-one capable of critical thought could fail to see the flaws there.

Plenty of people end up working in fields they didn't specialise in it's a good thing. They all had training in neonates

ZadocPDederick · 24/09/2023 10:01

Here's a classic indicator of the stupidity of that article (and I'm using the word "stupidity" charitably):

"Child L
Was born to a mother who was seriously unwell and had a diagnosis of gestational diabetes. This would produce non-immunoglobulin transfer of maternal insulin into foetal circulation, increasing at delivery, and yet Professor Hindmarsh asserted that the insulin must have been delivered via dextrose/ TPN solutions. Yet, studies demonstrate that 50% of infants born to mothers with gestational diabetes have maternal insulin autoantibodies (MIAAs) in their circulation at birth (Ronkainen et al, 2008). Prof Hindmarsh is Emeritus Professor from UCL."

If the author had just read the account of the evidence she would know perfectly well that Professor Hindmarsh had explained why this could not be due to naturally produced insulin, and indeed that the defence did not contest this.

You’ve said exactly what I wanted to say!

I hope the British tax payer isn’t expected to fund her appeal.

She was/is a nurse, presumably in a union. Her union legal cover probably covered the legal fees.

gloria1980 · 24/09/2023 10:05

Thank you, many good links in the article, gives one reasons to think.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 24/09/2023 10:10

I have no issue with her being allowed to appeal everyone else is allowed to so why not her.

Shes as guilty as fuck and knows she is so it’s not like it’s likely to change anything for her. She’s a vile evil baby murderer and she’s where she belongs and will be until the day she dies

TooOldForThisNonsense · 24/09/2023 10:12

thedancingbear · 16/09/2023 07:49

I agree. Monsters like Letby shouldn’t be allowed appeals.

I think they should’ve chucked away the key as soon as they found out she did it. This would have saved the cost of the first trial too.

the lawyers who defended her should be struck off. How could they?

Grow up

move to North Korea or Afghanistan or somewhere if that’s the kind of justice system you want.

No they didn't, it was paid by legal aid

you’re good @thedancingbear ! My apologies :)

"That is their truth" is no different to saying they are lying.

That was the truth.

Yes agreed.

Letby was obtuse, vague and emotionless in this way throughout the WHOLE trial.

Lots of
”I don’t recall”
”I cannot answer that”
”No”
Re the hundreds of notes: “I collect paper”
Re the Facebook searches: “I was thinking of them”

I suspected she thought I’d she was vague and non-commital the jury would think ‘we have nothing on her’

MartinChuzzlewit · 24/09/2023 10:28

Here’s a lesson in life @978q - having the ability to create a WordPress website and maintain it doesn’t not a credible source make.

MartinChuzzlewit · 24/09/2023 10:30

I’ll ask again - the unit had 7 paediatric consultants, 1 with a sub speciality in neonatology. What do you think this means? That six of them were cardboard cutouts?
