Also on X there are many accounts posting their suppose if RB and #istandwithrussellbrand. Bit premature given that the programme hasn't been shown yet. Funny how these conspiracy truther types will have people defending them in the face of clear evidence, like Andrew Tate.

To be fair, that's exactly what Channel 4 usually fills a lot of their schedules with.

C4 used to be a bizarre mixture of quality high-brow content and prurient barrel-scrapings to get the ratings, but now they've dropped most of the former.

If it's about sleazy behaviour is it a big story? I expect comedians to entertain me. Just as I expect someone in a shop to serve me or my doctor to give me an appointment and medical advice. Their private lives are not my concern. If what they have done is against any code of conduct with their employer that's between them or if illegal it's for the police to deal with. If they are accused of a crime then the police should be involved, it's not for a tv show which ultimately is all about getting viewers.

Different story if someone from government or politics who have influence over us and are spending taxpayers money.

If he's really thought to have done something illegal but, so far I assume, nobody has made those allegations against him, is it right that it happens via a TV programme? Shouldn't the police be the first to see the evidence?

Agreed.

Why make this into a big expose rather than the women go to the police and present a united case together?

If this is what this is, then in my mind it's reducing serious allegations which should be approached professionally, to sensation making.

I have to say that I'm surprised people on the comedy circuit who knew this was happening haven't spoken out before. This isn't the 70s and you'd hope that comedians are aware that this sort of shit happens and women should be supported. Does RB really have that much power that they were scared to say anything? Or is this a case that there wasn't sufficient evidence until now?

Not to be insensitive as assaults etc are awful but it would need to be very, very serious for it to be the "biggest story this year" than just another celebrity nonce.

It wouldn't surprise me if RB had something like HIV from years of drug abuse and promiscuity and had knowingly infected others with this, for example.

I would be very surprised if it was just about noncy encounters considering the news we've already had around PS and HE

JR? The person with a speech impediment and their own chat show? Really?

I am wondering if the expose isn't so much that these people have had allegations made about them, than the possibility that the police/TV companies etc have refused to listen and tried to cover it up.
