Comedians being sexist, racist, homophobic, taking drugs and using prostitutes.

Deary me, who'd have thought it?

My thoughts exactly.

the money laundering through movies is a bit more unexpected. Why would someone need to launder money, what are they doing where they’re illegally getting money they need to launder?

IClaudine · 16/09/2023 06:50

How dull. I was really hoping for something political that might finally bring this government down.

If a certain person is included it might be interesting, though. I know that there are people in the children's book industry who have been trying to shout about him for years, but been ignored. Money is more important than morals, even in that industry.

Again from Deux Moi - DW & NF? (or maybe ML which would surprise me more)

When is this supposed to actually break?

@LondonMummer I agree too. I'm hoping it is. Social media is great, and it is horrible. Jonathan Haidt is worth reading for the impact it is having on us, and especially our children. If we can't use it responsibly as adults, what chance do they have?

It's Russel brand! It's already on sky news

Not Patrick Kielty… my childhood crush!

Pompoms88 · 16/09/2023 07:02

Paddy is trending because he has the first ep of his new show last night.

AutumnalEquinox · 16/09/2023 07:02

Russell Brand has made a video disputing any news that is going to come out about him.

What if it is not about him, and he's stitched himself up a kipper.

Makeanoise · 16/09/2023 07:02

What if…..THIS story is the dead cat and they’re burying something else?

Highandlows · 16/09/2023 07:03

I want it to be a self righteous, sanctimonious lefty. That would be fun.

What if…..THIS story is the dead cat and they’re burying something else?

That’s some conspiracy thinking! I don’t think the Sunday Times and Dispatches would spend a year of time and money working on a story just to distract the public on behalf on the Govt…

TroglodytesTroglodytes · 16/09/2023 07:05

If this is on a par with Jimmy Saville it would be massive. Yes, there were rumours about Saville but no-one knew the horrific extent of his crimes. If Brand has been using his celebrity status to access children from TV/children’s homes to rape, vulnerable adults in hospital/dead bodies to abuse, been perpetrating on BBC property etc it potentially could be one of the biggest news stories of the year.

C4tastrophe · 16/09/2023 07:06

Someone famous taking advantage of their popularity to bang (legal) teenage girls/boys is not a news story.
What about all the pop stars? The Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Oasis? Even Chas and fucking Dave probably got some action!

Inkpotlover · 16/09/2023 07:07

Brand’s received legal letters/emails putting the allegations to him, hence his video. He mentions consent, which clearly means he’s being accused of acting without it. Really serious criminal implications here.

Were they all rapists?

C4tastrophe · 16/09/2023 07:08

Russel Brand denies it anyway.

Maybe Dispatches were waiting for Mike Yarwood to die?

There’s taking advantage and then there’s rape. Brand mentions in vid he always had consensual sex, which suggests he’s being accused of ignoring consent at times.

Inkpotlover · 16/09/2023 07:10

It sounds like it’s not just Brand being exposed though.

Rape is a serious allegation. What is your evidence? What do you know?

Not David tenant?

whosaidtha · 16/09/2023 07:10

But if he hasn't been formally charged with anything surely they can't do a whole programme accusing him? It would massively impact a jury if anything went to trial, not to mention the huge lawsuit if he was found not guilty.

newnamethanks · 16/09/2023 07:15

Some showbiz folk shag anything that moves, and some that don't. That isn't a news story, it's an everyday story of lookatme folk. We know how obnoxious they can be. Slow news day or what?
