Mine are Turn To Stone, Oh Well (part one) and Over You.

Not easy to pick just one, given their respective considerable back catalogues.

Tusk. My mate was a huge FM fan in the 70s, heard Rumours every day, multiple times, I didn’t love. But now it takes me back to long evenings hanging out in her garage.
ELO meh.
Roxy though. The Strand. Pyjamarama, Dream Home etc. Thought they’d run out of stream, then Avalon.
My (well not my) BF story. My sister was an art school kid early 70s, wore a Pixie outfit, purple hair(before it was a thing). In a pub in her home town, two blokes chatted her and mate up. “We’re in a band” yeah right. “No we’re playing tonight. Have some tickets, we can go out after” Sis and mate had other plans. It was BF and Eno.
Has anyone seen BF in Babylon Berlin? His voice is shot, but I’d still go and see him.

ELO: Roll over Beethoven/Overture 10352/Mr Blue Sky/Sweet talking woman

RM: In every dreamhome a heartache/Pyjamarama/Over you/Remake Remodel/Take a chance on me

Not really a fan of Fleetwood Mac

Does anyone else like the ELO song “diary of Horace whimp”. Brings back amazing memories but no one has ever heard it 😂

Not many ELO songs I don't like, and love Horace Wimp. I thought this was a fairly mainstream record in its time, not unusual to hear it.

I had it in my head that The Diary of Horace Wimp was a double A side single with Last Train to London, but Wikipedia tells me that my memory is wrong. I didn't like it. I was a charmless lump of a teenager when it came out, and the girl being "small and verrrrrrrrrrry pretty" set my teeth on edge.

billy - I was at that concert! The first one I ever went to and up to that point only knew a few of their singles. They played the entire concerto for a rainy day and I was hooked forever! It's impossible to choose a favourite track. I was also at the Wembley 'Time ' concert which was fantastic. I love all their music but at a push I'd go with Is This The Way Life's Meant To Be?
FM - I'd go with Don't Stop.
Never a RM fan at all.
10cc it would be The Dean and I.
Saw Graham Gouldman on stage a few years ago and he was great. Another, like Jeff Lynne, with a truly fantastic back catalogue.

This has made me chuckle. The only tape my dad had in his car was an ELO one so 6-7 year old me knew all their songs in the late 90’s. I thought the veerrry prettyyyy part was so funny, plus my dad would sing that part to me because he obvs thought I was very pretty 😂. Good memories 😂☺️.

greengreengrass25 · 16/09/2023 20:21

Horace Wimp is brilliant with electronic voice saying each day

Last train to London is good as well

TheTecknician · 16/09/2023 21:39

I think Last Train To London was a double A-side with Confusion.
