Apparently the biggest news story of the year is going to break over the weekend

It’s all overTwitter, or X as it’s now called. One of the Sunday papers is working on a massive story and all staff weekend leave has been cancelled. Channel 4 is showing an episode of ‘Dispatches’ tomorrow night at 9pm but haven’t said what it’s about and lots of people are putting two and two together and saying it’s in conjunction with the following days papers.

If the Times are dropping the story it will be either Political or Royal figure. My money would be on fresh dirt on Prince Andrew .

Hi ho hi hi it’s off to tattle I go…

😆😆😆 I'll be there shortly!

IClaudine · 15/09/2023 15:19

RoseAndRose it is linked to #metoo, apparantly.

meatyryvita · 15/09/2023 15:20

Thinking about Popbitch's wording, they said, 'will open a whole new front' - I wonder if that's a hint about it being something to do with someone in the military? Popbitch often uses wordplay to hint at things.

OneMoreCookieMonster · 15/09/2023 15:20

It's 100% royal. A massive story was suppose to break this time last year but they've kept it quiet out of respect for a grieving royal family. Been waiting and looking pur for it since. I'm guessing there's been new developments.

Redebs · 15/09/2023 15:22

A celebrity sex scandal isn't going to be the story of the year though is it?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 15/09/2023 15:22

My first guess is a comedian turned author and presenter which I've had a creepy feeling about for ages
Second guess Another politician up to no good
Dispatches is a serious programme so it could be a general topic perhaps NHS killer Doctors for example

Yalta · 15/09/2023 15:22

Anyone not care

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 15/09/2023 15:22

I’m guessing Andrew.
Parentage?

TokyoSushi · 15/09/2023 15:22

Even Tattle doesn't know, and they know everything...

It was me who said about Beth Rigby. I don't think it's anything to do with her, but just musing that sometimes they take people off air to prepare/work on 'a big story' and of course she's very political...

Pretty certain that she's alive and well and she Tweets/Insta lighthearted benign photos every now and again.

This is what I have been expecting too.

placemats · 15/09/2023 15:22

An hour and a half of a special Dispatches programme revolving around me too - it has to be a big name.

Within political circles I can't imagine it would be either Captain Fantastic or Inaction Man. Can't imagine it would be a British actor or celebrity either.

That leaves the Royal Family. Is it more revelations about Andrew? (know some details never released to the public about him and the press never would either). Or is it another royal member.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 15/09/2023 15:23

I think this might be Kincora and a certain Lord M.

IcedPurple · 15/09/2023 15:23

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 15/09/2023 15:22

I’m guessing Andrew.
Parentage?

But isn't the Dispatches programme supposedly related to #metoo?

RoseAndRose · 15/09/2023 15:24

blankittyblank · 15/09/2023 15:08

It's about MeToo, so wouldn't have though so!

"Channel 4 announces Saturday night special amid MeToo rumours"
https://bnonews.com/index.php/2023/09/channel-4-saturday-night-special-metoo/

For a #MeToo to be "explosive" I don't think it can be entertainment - sadly it's all too common there.

So unless it's a National Treasure type of figure, then it must be reaching in to a sector that's not already been discussed in these terms (which, depressingly, rules out an awful lot). What's left that's still seen as largely above reproach? I'm struggling to come up with anything. Which is quite an indictment in itself

LOL. It's the police that cancel leave, not the papers!

Would a paper really cancel all leave for a story about an ex morning TV presenter, or a comedian?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 15/09/2023 15:26

MidgesGirdle · 15/09/2023 14:09

My guess is aliens.

Please not aliens in the context of MeToo.

A bit too much even for me, and I'm quite unflappable.

placemats · 15/09/2023 15:26

Even Tattle doesn't know, and they know everything...

You can be absolutely sure they do. @TokyoSushi

I knew someone who worked in The Times - in the 1990s - and they had information on a Royal family member even then.

Oh boo, I maybe just can't find it then! They've never let me down before!

I'll believe it when I see it
Biggest news of 2023 turning into some sex scandal would be pretty shameful when the world is burning around us and should be what we focused on more

Oh fuck the fuck right off! What do you want us all to do? Sit here every minute if our lives with a giant eco friendly egg timer wringing our hands and shitting our pants and waiting to either burn to death or die of guilt? Are you not able to focus on 2 tings at the same time? I’ve had the same fucking carrier bag for about ten years. I’ve not been on a plane since 2017. I live alone, I don’t drive, I hate avocados, I live in Scotland where it’s fucking freezing most of the time so seriously, you can piss right off! I’ll care about what I like thanks very much!

Whilst Charles is King? Gosh that would be shocking. Everyone knows about it though.

ZadocPDederick · 15/09/2023 15:28

hotteabag · 15/09/2023 15:08

I wondered if it was about a certain downing street employee given a controversial peerage?

Now, the background to that one certainly seems well worth knowing about.

TokyoSushi · 15/09/2023 15:27

There'll be a press embargo on it.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 15/09/2023 15:23

I think this might be Kincora and a certain Lord M.

That occurred to me too, but isn't that kind of old news? Even if they've found hard evidence rather than just more rumours, would it really be such a huge story now?

RoseAndRose · 15/09/2023 15:29

OneMoreCookieMonster · 15/09/2023 15:20

I was beginning to wonder along those lines.

#MeToo is about the vulnerable getting a voice against the powerful. Usually women, but there's no reason it could not extend to boys, is there?
