I've never eaten a Weetabix

We have them in the house, I make them for my kids. But I just can't bring myself to actually put it in my own mouth and eat it. It just looks so grim. I know they're really good for you but I've never been able to get past the look of it to try one.

Anyone else got anything similar??

I’ve never eaten a prawn.

DappledThings · 15/09/2023 07:12

Weetabix look absolutely revolting. DC have them every day. I've never tried even a mouthful.

FrenchandSaunders · 15/09/2023 07:12

You haven’t missed much!

Moonsoup · 15/09/2023 07:13

I must have eaten thousands of weetabix, probably tens of thousands. Delicious.

Oblomov23 · 15/09/2023 07:19

You aren't missing much! they taste like straw/sawdust. Both my ds's have eaten them for years, but realistically they taste of not very much and quite an odd texture.

OKbutwhyplease · 15/09/2023 07:24

Yeah I couldn't bring myself to eat one either.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 15/09/2023 07:32

Maybe it's having scraped rock hard Weetabix off too many surfaces in the house that doesn't help - like how can that be doing your insides any good when you could literally cement a house with it?

They're not really good for you...

They're just not as bad as some of the other shittier cereals.

SwedishEdith · 15/09/2023 07:35

You need to have them with warm milk, all mixed up. Comforting.

kezzygrey · 15/09/2023 07:37

I quite like them but they have to be with a lot of milk. Don't think they are that healthy though so don't feel guilty!!

LastHives · 15/09/2023 07:38

Try oatibix. I love them!

Gurthnamuckla · 15/09/2023 07:43

Neither have I, though I once helped toddler DS design a face made out of fruit and Weetabix that won a prize.

They aren’t ‘good for you’, though.

DynamicK · 15/09/2023 07:49

I used to eat weetabix for dinner when I was in my 20's, living on my own and working (I'd eat proper lunches)
Great filling cheap easy food.

RedVanYellowVan · 15/09/2023 07:53

I love them, I have them nearly every day.

My top parenting tip, however, is always wipe Weetabix off a toddler's face before it sets. Otherwise she will need plastic surgery to remove it.

I have never eaten a sausage.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/09/2023 07:54

There is a sweet spot of 7 seconds between solid blocks of sawdust and a gag-reaction triggering gloop. It's then game over on actually being able to force them in.

In terms of health, they're good for fibre and are less processed and sugary than most other cereals. There's worse ways to start the day, but I tend to go for more savory foods.

sorrynotathome · 15/09/2023 07:56

What on earth gives you the the idea that they’re “really good for you”?! For a start there’s virtually no calories in them so don’t even think that two will keep you going for more than a hour or two. Breakfast cereals are the original processed shit.

InBedByTen · 15/09/2023 07:57

They’re not really good for you, they’re just not as bad as a bowl of sugar puffs.

hdbs17 · 15/09/2023 07:58

Also never eaten Weetabix. DS (6) has been eating them for his breakfast since 7 months old, I make them everyday. They don't smell too bad when warm.

Could I eat it? Absolutely not.

00100001 · 15/09/2023 07:58

We only have cereals as a snack/treat, ABIT like you might have a cookie or something.

Certainly not as a basis for a meal!

Closest we get to cereals is a bowl of porridge!

AuntieMarys · 15/09/2023 08:01

I'm in my 60s and have never eaten weetabix. Ds used to eat 7 at a time and it was a bowl of slop.

Because for over a century the likes of Kellogg's have been telling all and sundry it's a "healthy breakfast".

I have never eaten a sausage.

It's known as biscuit cement in our house.

I've never eaten one either.

DH likes to tip his dregs into the sink before he goes to work and then chose it off when he gets home.

Fleur405 · 15/09/2023 08:04

Either have I. And I’m not at all sure they are really good for you (they’re just less bad than some other breakfast cereals)

ApolloandDaphne · 15/09/2023 08:05

I love them topped with loads of berries and very cold milk.

Bananas1350 · 15/09/2023 08:05

Saw on one of those weight loss programs someone put butter on theirs before adding milk. Ugh. I actually like them.
