I've never eaten a Weetabix

We have them in the house, I make them for my kids. But I just can't bring myself to actually put it in my own mouth and eat it. It just looks so grim. I know they're really good for you but I've never been able to get past the look of it to try one.

Anyone else got anything similar??

80 year old FiL has them every morning!

When MiL broke her foot and couldn't get upstairs (where their kitchen is) he had them for lunch too!

Alternatively you can make the easiest fruit loaf ever with a couple of weetabix, sultanas, sugar, milk, egg and flour. I added a small-diced Granny Smith apple.

I like weetabix for an easy breakfast.there’s so many chocolate cereals these days which I have never eaten.

I remember an impromptu lunch with a friend when our DC were toddlers & I dished up baked beans, I was surprised as her and her DC had never eaten them (& nor did they want to!)

Saw on one of those weight loss programs someone put butter on theirs before adding milk. Ugh. I actually like them.

Yuk. A work colleague disgusted us all by saying she puts butter on hers but would then eat it like a cracker. It must just crumble everywhere Confused

travelogue · 15/09/2023 09:09

They aren't particularly good for you - plenty of less revolting ways to get enough dietary fiber - put them in the bin. Wink

Devilsmommy · 15/09/2023 09:17

My little one won't eat the plain ones but loves the banana flavour ones, I used to eat them but not anymore. Oatibix are much nicer as a pp said

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 15/09/2023 09:36

I used to eat them with butter and honey on top as a child .

Have them now sometimes with cold milk and fruit .

My body really doesn't do savoury stuff or eggs in the morning . Thought of it makes me feel quite sick .

Weirdly it doesn't, and it's actually really nice!

My son is allergic to egg and dairy, I can't bring myself to let a dairy free or egg free version of anything pass my lips. But we still have them all in the fridge.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 15/09/2023 12:17

Ha I'm an advertisers dream as I just assumed that they look so grim and health-foody they must be good for you!

Me neither . They make me heave .

I think it stems from when I first started my career of working with children. I was placed in day nurseries and would be with the small children at breakfast time.

Try oatibix. I love them!

WARNING

Oatibix may cause gastrointestinal distress and dangerous levels of flatulence. I actually thought I was going to die and take the earth with me in a methane fuelled maelstrom.

Tiredmumno1 · 15/09/2023 12:23

Weetabix is disgusting, as soon as you put the milk in it's a soggy mess. I'd pick shredded wheat before weetabix, at least it doesn't suddenly end up like slop.

Although I prefer Special K nowadays.

BarryK3nt · 15/09/2023 12:25

I’ve never eaten one either, just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve also never tried marmite or peanut butter for the same reason.

Caterina99 · 15/09/2023 12:28

DS has them every day. swimming in milk. Urgh.

I have eaten them so I know what they taste like. Which is not much. I have no intention of ever eating them again.

I do like the mini ones with chocolate though.

My nan puts jam on them and eats them the same way!

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 15/09/2023 12:37

My eldest eats them dry. Grim.

I'm in my 60s and have never eaten weetabix. Ds used to eat 7 at a time and it was a bowl of slop.

Jesus. How were his bowels?

xogossipgirlxo · 15/09/2023 12:50

I never had them too, they don’t look like something I’d want to eat.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 15/09/2023 12:53

I'm pretty sure the formulation has changed the last few years because as a child I LOVED Weetabix. Now it's a lot drier and crumblier.

Had a schoolfriend who had them with butter. Freak.

I love them dry! (Hated milk as a kid)

piscofrisco · 15/09/2023 19:08

I congratulate you. I ate one once and that was enough.

Lagershandy · 15/09/2023 19:11

DH eats Weetabix spread with jam.

On the other hand, I have never ever eaten chicken.

strubidooo · 15/09/2023 19:18

You need to cover the weetabix in hot water, mush it all up then a splash of milk and a bit of sugar. Cold milk straight on the weetabix is like eating sawdust

Teddleshon · 15/09/2023 19:20

Never eaten weetabix or indeed any breakfast cereal of any type and have never tasted baked beans!
