I’m leaning towards David Suchets Poirot 🤔 but we don’t have Amazon here (well we do but the German one and more limited choice!) and not sure where I’d get the stuff from!

also, while I’ve got you, what detective/crime themed food would you serve?

Vera...i wouldn't need to dress up either.

BerfyTigot · 14/09/2023 21:22

@EducatingArti got there first! I'll second Harriet Vane, though I don't really have the physique to carry off 1920's clothes.

Would probably do better as Jessica Fletcher 🤣

Meowandthen · 14/09/2023 21:56

Great question.

Probable Jessica Jones. She’s very cool.

Oioicaptain · 14/09/2023 21:57

The pink panther.

Oioicaptain · 14/09/2023 21:58

Or the policeman from Allo Allo!
I was just pissing by...

KohlaParasaurus · 14/09/2023 22:07

Kojak. I'd love to shave my head. Or Lincoln Rhyme, though the props might be difficult to arrange. Realistically, Vera.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 14/09/2023 22:14

My god there’s some good ideas here!

And some I’ve never heard of so I need to google to see if I have anything resembling them then feign an in depth knowledge of them 😂

Jane Tennison from the Prime Suspect series? Clothes were fairly simple as I recall.

PeacheyPeach · 14/09/2023 22:27

Oh I'm loving this thread, it's making me want to have a " dress as a detective party" 😂

Think I'd go as one half of Cagney and lacey!

Mogloveseggs · 14/09/2023 22:32

Agatha Raisin then I could serve the quiche of death!

MachineBee · 14/09/2023 22:32

Christine Cagney (if I can get into my black leather trousers and fluffy polo neck), Mary Beth Lacey (anything in my day to day wardrobe would work), Jessica Fletcher (might have to put on smart clothes) or Miss Marple (sensible shoes, tweed suit and a hat) - love em all!

Yyfandes · 14/09/2023 22:37

Tuppence, as in Tommy and Tuppence from Agatha Christie.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/09/2023 22:40

Peter Whimsey

Mojodojocasahaus · 14/09/2023 22:41

Inspector gadget!!

WetBandits · 14/09/2023 22:46

I went to a fancy dress party as Sherlock Holmes when I was 17 Grin I’d absolutely go for his rodent counterpart, Basil the Great Mouse Detective, if I went to another fancy dress party with a detective theme, though!

UkuleleRose · 14/09/2023 22:57

Stephanie Plum (I used a LOT of blue eyeliner in the '80s). Or Nora Charles.

EnthENd · 14/09/2023 22:59

+1 for Inspector Gadget. Loved that cartoon as a kid.

PerkingFaintly · 14/09/2023 23:04

Brother William of Baskerville. I've already got the voluminous grey cowl (oodie), though in rather fluffier fabric.

PerkingFaintly · 14/09/2023 23:05

And I would definitely rescue the books if the building were on fire.

TheBewilderedGoblin · 14/09/2023 23:06

Vera

Positive41 · 15/09/2023 08:45

Don Johnson or columbo

VesperLynne · 15/09/2023 08:49

Sally Lockhart : love Victorian fashion.

PeacheyPeach · 16/09/2023 20:53

Op can I ask if you're having a detective party, are you having games or anything else? I really want to do this now but not sure what else to do other than people dress up!!

CrispyTofu · 16/09/2023 21:41

Makepeace!

Hawkins0009 · 16/09/2023 21:54

columbo
