I’m leaning towards David Suchets Poirot 🤔 but we don’t have Amazon here (well we do but the German one and more limited choice!) and not sure where I’d get the stuff from!

also, while I’ve got you, what detective/crime themed food would you serve?

Falco in a toga? Might be a bit chilly, though. Miss Marple would be easy enough with charity shop finds - sensible blouse, skirt and cardigan or jacket. Phryne if you want glam (and have some stuff from previous 1920s fancy dress parties).

Alighttouchonthetiller · 14/09/2023 19:32

Vera - we already have the same wardrobe.

Poirot - as a perimenopausal woman, I have a luxuriant moustache so look the part even without donning a dapper little suit.

I'm on drugs! I meant Harriet Makepeace!

WaitingForSunnyDays · 14/09/2023 19:35

I thought of Kinsey Milhone as well. She alway seems to be going for a run in the books, so if you don't have the wonderful black dress I reckon your lycra gym gear would do!

DanielsDancingMonkey · 14/09/2023 19:39

Depends on the weather.
Warm sunshine: Phryne Fisher (I have a suitable dress but it doesn’t cover much.)
Chilly autumn: Miss Marple.
Pouring with rain: Columbo.
Snow: Annika Strandhed.

Only if you have Sauconys Grin

IHeartGeneHunt · 14/09/2023 19:42

Miss Marple. I've already got the white hair and the knitting.

NotReallySureWhatToThink · 14/09/2023 19:42

Saga Noren in her leather trousers.

(I don't have the figure but I am blonde 🤣)

anunlikelyseahorse · 14/09/2023 19:43

Danger mouse!
Sherlock Holmes's....although i suspect quite a few might do that.
Agatha raisin (but not many people might have come across her)
Or strike or strike's partner Robyn.

HermioneWeasley · 14/09/2023 19:47

I’d go as Saga Noren because I love her

Tlolljs · 14/09/2023 19:47

Miss Marple I wouldn’t have to change much

Maraudingmarauders · 14/09/2023 19:49

Does Carmen Sandiego count...?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 14/09/2023 19:50

Inspector Clouseau!

And when DD2 was little she used to come running in in the mornings and dive on the bed so enthusiastically that DH used to shout out Not Now Kato! So she could come with me 😂

Papillon23 · 14/09/2023 19:59

Nancy Drew maybe?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2023 20:04

Philip Marlowe - suit and a fedora.

TroysMammy · 14/09/2023 20:12

Being 5ft I'd go as Inch High Private Eye.

LutherRalph1 · 14/09/2023 20:13

Luther

KnickerlessParsons · 14/09/2023 20:14

Starsky. Or Kokack.

TroysMammy · 14/09/2023 20:15

Undercover Elephant 😂

CheersToMe · 14/09/2023 20:15

Dangermouse and Penfold (couples costume)

KnickerlessParsons · 14/09/2023 20:16

Kojak

Or Cagney or Lacey

BigFatLiar · 14/09/2023 20:21

I'd like to say as Miss Fisher but realistically it would probably be Miss Marple. ( OH says I could go as Rex from Hudson and Rex 😕)
