..and had to keep it in your house for a week and you didn't my have a safe, where would you put it? Hypothetically.....

@CurlewKate Is this dilemma yours to hide OP, or are you trying to think of a place someone else might have hidden it?

BasiliskStare · 12/09/2023 19:06

My neighbours were burgled and their laptops etc were stolen. One split his money ( £200 - maybe not what you would call substantial , but still , not something you want to lose ) and put £50 each in some books between the pages. The burglars moved the books to get at the laptop but none of the money went. That is the extent of my hiding cash knowledge :) and it is vicarious.

MintJulia · 12/09/2023 19:06

In the summer - only for a week - inside the chimney hood of the cast iron fireplace in ds' bedroom.

greatly80 · 12/09/2023 19:06

In the bread bin if you have one, but only if you live alone so other people won't be opening it up all the time. Otherwise in a box behind the sofa (ours is one with a frame, so you can hide stuff behind the back cover iyswim and no-one could see unless they deliberately go looking into the sofa)

nc14 · 12/09/2023 19:09

Tape it under the dining table.

illiterato · 12/09/2023 19:10

Inside jacket pocket of my ski jacket
Back of the fridge in an empty butter container
inside a tennis ball tin
inside a loo roll and put it at the bottom row of the packet ( one of those 9 roll packs with 3 rows of three
In the bird seed container

NuffSaidSam · 12/09/2023 19:11

In something fire proof. I think there's equal chance of it going up in flames as being stolen.

Milomonster · 12/09/2023 19:11

I put my valuables at the bottom of the laundry basket when I travel. I’ve also hidden them
in stuffed toys.

queenofthewild · 12/09/2023 19:12

In the freezer probably. In a fish finger box.

DisforDarkChocolate · 12/09/2023 19:12

Inside the boxed up food warmers I have in my cupboard and under a bed.

I probably could hide it in my office it's such a bloody mess at the moment.

Jeannie88 · 12/09/2023 19:12

Have to spread it out, different places, especially smelly places!

MintyCedric · 12/09/2023 19:14

I have a Henry hoover.

I’d put in in a clean bag inside the hoover.

tigpig · 12/09/2023 19:15

Do what my grandmother did and put it in my bra . Now that was a surprise when she had a fall and ended up in hospital.

fiddlesticksandotherwords · 12/09/2023 19:16

Taped to the underside of divan drawers.

Wrapped in black plastic and hidden in a bag of compost in the shed.

Stuffed into the inner cardboard tubes of rolls of Christmas wrapping paper.

In a carrier bag hanging on a hook underneath coats in the hallway.

Inside an empty paint tin at the back of the cupboard under the stairs.

Rantypanties · 12/09/2023 19:18

Spread it out but I’d put some in my curtain linings!

Staggersaurus · 12/09/2023 19:18

In a carrier bag in the carrier bag bag underneath lots of other carrier bags.

MissingMoominMamma · 12/09/2023 19:20

At the bottom of the box of scarves in my wardrobe.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/09/2023 19:22

I think I'd take it to work and leave it there.

At home, I'd be too worried about a house fire or burglary.

At work we have sprinklers, shutters, alarms and fireproof document safes that only I and two other people have access to and they would never go in the safes unless something happened to me.

AuroraForever · 12/09/2023 19:22

In the freezer in a bag of peas or in a box of yorkie puds.

Or rolled up in a bag of flour in the cupboard.

Or under the carpet under the sofa.

Or behind a plug socket.

lljkk · 12/09/2023 19:23

I'd divide it up

BarbaraofSeville · 12/09/2023 19:24

But if @CurlewKate is planning a new career as a house breaker, she has a decent list of hiding places to start with.

evtheria · 12/09/2023 19:25

In sandwich ziploc bags, neatly folded over, then tucked into the pockets the spare jackets/coats hanging in the closet. Not the coat I use out everyday, mind. Also rolled up and tucked into the toes of spare shoes/boots.

Winter2020 · 12/09/2023 19:25

Under a fitted carpet (assuming it's not too thick and can be spread out).

Ohthatsabitshit · 12/09/2023 19:26

Are you hiding it from an intruder or someone you live with?
When was the last time money was stolen from your home?

evtheria · 12/09/2023 19:27

OH and you know in suitcases how most have that liner that unzips? Spread out and taped to the inside of the case under that liner!
